I bought ARX a few months ago, ready for the Py2 release, I was thinking paint jobs and ship kits. This is before FDEV announced the "before update 19" early access charges.
Prices have gone up in the ARX store: not great, but I'm not going to boycott the store because of it. I do think FDEV's idea of prices is absurd, especially for the onfoot items, and that was before the price increases. They would have also done better if they had incrementally upped the prices over the years and split the gamestore between live and legacy.
Py2 is only available early access for ARX: not great, but I do have enough ARX to buy it, and I'm happy to support FDEV.
Py2 has access to Class A SCO drives, other ships won't "until later": That's the line for me personally. If the CG or Galnet article or whatever releases those drives for use with all ships rather than them being behind a (hopefully temporary) paywall, then I will spend my existing ARX buying early access to the Py2, and assuming I like the ship, I'll spend more on ARX for a paint job*. Unless of course that's after August 7th, in which case I'll buy it with ingame credits instead and spend my existing ARX on ship kits/paint jobs as I originally intended, just not as many and likely for the lower priced items because I can't justify spending that much at the new prices. Maybe there will be a sale ...
*That's how I spend my ARX. I build a ship for a specific role; if it works/I like it, the ship gets a name and a paint job. If I don't have the ARX, I buy them.
