Ships Python Owners' Thread

I like it so much, I bought 3 skins for it; pirate (slick), vibrant (meh), and tactical (slick). Still trying to find it's role, but generally, it's a heavily armed trader.

My Asp is the only other ship with paint; white Apollo.

Hmmm, attachments are still down?

Python role? undefined. Its a perfect miner, armed trader or Tank in the res sites if you can afford to A spec it.

Traded my Python in for a Type 9, I love the Type 9 but I wish I had money for both, saving up for the Anaconda but getting impatient. I will most likely switch back to the Python and res hunt my way to an Anaconda. The ship is just more enjoyable.

How did you spec out your T-9? I heard that you really need to upgrade the thrusters?

Yeah.....I went for the military paint job with the Python and a tactical with the Vulture. Paint jobs do look very nice.

Yes you need at least C thrusters in the Type9 but even then its sluggish. I ran D everything A FSD and C thrusters no weapons 1 chaff launcher, I did end up selling it after I made 30 mil in a few hours. I could have easily saved for the conda but it was just too boring. She was fun to fly but the actual trading was too much for me, I mine and res hunt. Now i'm back in an A rated Python and after flying the T9 I feel like I'm in a vulture with the python.

Just run the lowest shields possible so you can tap 500 tons of cargo.

Thank you OP for this thread and everyone's contributions. I will be picking up my Python tomorrow after the CGs payout.....OOOOH!!!

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy it. Pro tip:You might want to upgrade the thrusters first to A grade, they really do make a world of difference. :)

My beautiful girl, "Defiant Slave". Just got her a few days ago. :D

I've recently rediscovered my love for the Python.

Flying in HazRes with 3 large fixed burst lasers and 2 medium gimballed cannons.
It rips so much it's amazing! Can destroy anything in about no time and has the power management to support it.

Will be doing this for a while!

Python has become a mission ship now for me. Trying to get my rank up slowly for the feds and it's the only ship that handles big cargo missions, lands on outposts and makes a somewhat decent profit.

I sold my Fer De Lance for the Python and have to admit I absolutely love it. The FDL was a little bit more nimble but the Python is great at everything and more fun to fly imo. I am still fairly new to the game but I reckon I will be using the Python for a long while to come. I have 3 fixed beams and 2 gimballed multicannons on mine and its great for high res sites. It also has a pirate skin on it so will upload a pic later :)

Just joined the club yesterday and came across this thread today, is that an omen or what :D. I like mining and had an Asp Explorer fitted out for that. I also love exploration but it is kinda hard mixing those two as there is a high metal ring 1.8ls from my home base. As a pre orderer I qualified for the Cobra MkIV which I found out was an extremely good ship to fit out as a planetary lander/explorer. What I needed was a ship that had enough bays that could handle mining, exploration and prospecting all at the same time and found that the Python was the best available in my projected price range.

Yesterday I had amassed current assets of approx 63mcr so took the plunge and sold my Cobra at Ising Dock in 109 Piscium, bought a sidewinder and a big FSD to fly back home, sell it and take the Asp back to Ising Dock. I bought the Python and some upgrades but had to jump the 18.6ly to Lembava for a second 64 ton cargo rack and have a look for a better shield generator of which there was nothing at Ising Dock. Anyway flew this one home http://coriolis.io/outfit/python/07...9C001.Iw18eQ==.Aw18eQ==?bn=Basic Python Miner and will begin mining with it today upgrading as I can to at basic this http://coriolis.io/outfit/python/06....Aw18eQ==?bn=Python Explorer%2FMiner%2FLander although that will likely change depending on input etc. Here's a photo I took on the way home.

Welcome to the club mate! a few changes I recommend would be, get the best power dist a 7A, a cheaper power plant, swop the burst for a pulse and make sure you have enough for insurance!

The only slight downside is cargo space 64T will limit your mining endurance, personally I don't use prospectors so that'd free up another slot allowing you to move some modules and gain 32T of cargo space.

It is an amazing ship for many activities. I remember i also sold i think 2 ships to be able to buy it, because i couldn't wait more. Sad thing is that i was using it for over a month for trading only, until able to put all the best modules, have enough more credits for insurance/repairs and buy again vulture and AspX . Once you have lots of credits it becomes a really all around nice ship. Just remember that it really shines with A rated modules. If only it had some more LY jump range.

Congratulations! I would say that it would be wise to A-Grade the thrusters first, everything else can come after, but A-thrusters made a world of difference for me. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy your new Python! Here is my PvP/PvE build : http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=705,4z...Nm1LU4zM05U9qS , granted it takes some power management, and things be switched off until they are needed, also I discovered the Python handles just fine on planets.

The cargo space is not a problem for me at all. When I eventually set off on a long haul exploration gig I don't intend to do the circle the bubble or visit Sag A, maybe I will kit out a full time explorer sometime in the future for that but for now I will keep mining, maiden voyage today gave 3.37mcr for approx 3hrs work, so as I thought yesterday I will gain credits much faster now and when I get a few upgrades onto her and am ready to go on this voyage, I intend to take a 750 - 1000ly trek in a line from my home station then turn 60 degrees and do the same then turn another 60 degrees back towards home. An isosceles triangle type of route up to approx 3000ly. I am not interested so much in maximum jump range as I intend to go slowly, visiting and exploring as many systems as I can. If I find some unexplored pristine metallic rings I will mine them a bit but only keep eg maybe painite and log them for future reference. When I get back I should have a fair whack of data to sell plus 74 ton of painite and hopefully by then FD will have come up with a way we are allowed to sell or swap the various prospecting materials we find while landing on moons, planets etc. :D
