Ships Python Owners' Thread

Whats that paint job called and what did you do to qualify for it?. I bought a paint job for my Python but none of the 6 colours cover the whole ship like yours does, the nose cone and some other parts stay the default grey colour. I thought the only complete colour was the black one given to beta buyers.
It's pirate skin. Available on the store.

Wanted to share what I call my Frustration Python. It is my brute-force answer to heavily armored conflict zone hulls.

Before arriving at this build, I tried powerplant-sniping with a 'conda laserboat. It just took too long. I'm impatient. I want stuff dead today, thanks.
Then I tried the FdL dakadakadaka. Big ships still weren't dying fast enough for me and to add insult to injury, now I had to go buy more bullets at least once an hour.

The Python is almost unique in that it can fit a bunch of PAs, turn quickly enough to use them, and carry a distributor big enough to support them. The way I'm using it, it's basically a mini-Corvette. It's overkill for RES and probably a liability in PvP, but that's not what I built it for.

I built it to BOIL UP THOSE DAMN CZ ANACONDAS SOONER RATHER THAN LATER.

Just entered the Python Owners Club last night.

Feels sluggish compared to my A-rated FAS. But I know that will change with time.

You guys have some pretty interesting/focus'd builds.

Anyone have a Python build for doing just a little bit of everything?

requires prismatic, but: http://coriolis.io/outfit/python/06...582f24.Iw18eQ==.IwBhCYzYd2VMc5TiA===?bn=pythy

been using that build for a while, works everywhere. cheap-ish. PVE of course. you can swap out some lower components for a FSD if you need it, but i kept it light and capable(full speed/boost). the prismatic shields in a 5 slot seem to be an anomaly on the python, but ill take it. i like the cargo space, and keeping it light helped the laden jump range above 14. still capable in a CZ or haz res, no issues in PVE combat ever for me. the MC's are great for tearing hull while your recharge your cap (7A PD is just a beast on the python). killing powerplants is quick and dirty, constant fire.

it does ok, and not excellent. but i hate swapping ships. i like this one cause i can land anywhere, if i see a CZ, i can drop off my cargo, jump in earn another mil in credits, and than keep trading. as i do, honk the horn for some discovery..so on. surface exploration as well, i use the two bay as a placeholder for bigger SRV's (i hope), and to swap if i burn one out making Doritos commercials on the surface. makes for a rather pleasurable multi-use flying experience. power management is almost not necessary in a fight. also being interdicted full of cargo, if you manage to succumb, nothing will survive you one-v-one.

That's quite the armed cargo ship. If I get a second Python (trade focussed) I think this is what I'll go with:

New member of the Python Owner's Club reporting! O7

Just bought mine tonight with an awesome 15% discount in Ray Gateway (Diaguandri) and bought a full-options package with it. Ray Gateway had all the upgrades I wanted, except A6 thrusters and A6 shields. Got B6 as a placeholder for both until I find better.

So far, I'm impressed. Yes it turns rather slowly. But not as glacial as I had expected. Tried some combat in it and it works fine for me.

Oh, and the Black Friday skin looks sweeeeet on it.

Long serving member of the Python club checking in, and reporting that for the first time I'm properly digging it.

As a player of the original game, the Python was a bit of a 'must have' ship for me. But it didn't quite do it for me at first, as I do very little straight trading, and would usually get better use from an Asp. In fact when I got the Python, I also had a Cobra, Courier, DBS, Vulture, FAS and Clipper; I struggled to find a rôle for it.

Now I am back doing missions, to gain rep with a couple of minor factions, and the Python is just kicking it. It is A-rated, barring sensors and life support, 170+ tonnes of cargo, A5 SCB, Large Beam, twin Multis, twin large PA's: this thing rocks. Heat sink to go with the SCB, and all is well.

I've been getting quite a few 1,000,000+ short haul smuggling jobs along the way, which is nice, requiring 140+ cargo and outpost facility. After learning to fly the Cutter effectively, the Python now feels great.

And yes, Midnight Black looks very good, but sometimes I go polar and dress her in white.

I am now a member of the Python Owners Club. My Dropship served me well but I finally succumbed to the upgrade to a Python a few days ago as funds were in the right ballpark.

Greatly enjoying the experience, and very happy with my ship. A smooth flight model, and great cargo opportunities for myself at present. Eventually once funds allow I will tone down the racks and go a little more general purpose I suspect.

For now though, I present my ship, Stheno.

Nice build though for the sake of only 4mcr extra for 5A shields you would have 402MJ instead of 318MJ for any sort of combat, just my opinion like.

412, according to coriolis. Advice still holds though. Unless you are running a hull tank (or SCBs), the biweave won't be your best choice on the Python.

Just recently got the Python and I love her like mad. Only wish the jump range was higher, but I suspect the Asp spoiled me ;)

Here is my current build for her. I made her as tightly efficient as possible, and equipped her entirely with discounted equipment to keep costs down. My insurance sits around 3.8m, which is beautiful for what she can do. I've taken her into high RES and she destroys anything she sets her sights on. Only time I felt in trouble was when I was attacking a wing ... and they were shooting me with railguns.

EDIT: Actually, I could drop one of the shield boosters to a 0B and upgrade to 6A thrusters and still be okay. Only thing I set on priority 2 are the fuel scoop, SRV bay, and cargo hatch. FSD is still online, so no problems breaking out of a fight quickly. Hmmm ... I think I'll do just that. My insurance will go up to 4.5m, but that's still pretty damn reasonable for Python.

P.S: Yeah, the Black Friday paint job looks awesome on this ship! I picked up the vibrant color pack for her ... and still keep reverting her to all black. :)

I run a very similar build to yours. I know it's expensive, but I think you'll find the military bulkheads to be quite worthwhile when in combat. It won't bother you half as much to have the shields go down when facing the rasps.

Hi,
Last november I sold my python in exchange for a trading Anconda and a bounty hunting Vulture.
Vulture is amazing but after I got more money exchanged it for the Fer De Lance. That is another amazing ship that forces you to manage the power wisely in combat. But its travel range is really poor, and some power play undermining operations are far away from home, that's the reason why last week did it with and ASP, and had to go to repair once (thanks god you are not scanned in planetary stations).
So now that I am rich enough I am again in a Python, but now everything A rated. 3 L pulse lasers and 2 Imperial Hammers for those big ships that don't want to die fast:

http://coriolis.io/outfit/python/27...8eQ==.IwBj4ytMg===?bn=Python Bi-Weave Shields

But I think there is too much armour for PvE and I am loosing too much jump range. I was thinking to remove the two class 3 Hull Reinforcement Packages but then i found that if I remove the military bulkheads I end with a 0.8 Ly longer jump range and a higher armour value.

My question is: Do Hull Reinforcement Packages protect the same as military armour?

Thank you in advance.

When are we going to get some nice skins? Surely this is one of the more popular ships for the committed players who would fork out for them. Give us the sexy skins!

I'm most of the way to getting A rated, but by God it's a slog to that power plant!

I love my Python.
I call him "Siphon".
He's purple.

I'm looking forward to being interdicted by a genuine pirate.
"Hi! I'm Siphon the purple Python. Can I interest you in a friendship drive charge?":D
