Quality of Life Improvement: Input LAT/LON Co-ords and have a Surface Waypoint appear, similar to the surface scan mission Waypoint.

I feel like I am the only nerd in the room who enjoys finding locations with lat/long...

No, others have also said they enjoy it. And that's fine. Because you wouldn't have to use a bearing calculator if you didn't want to - you could do it manually still.

I like knowing how to. But just as I know how to read a map, it's much more convenient to use GPS. Sometimes I do still look at a map as it gives me a better idea of the area. But if I just want to get somewhere, I put the postcode into the GPS...

Maybe I am just a masochist :D :p

Seriously though, I have wanted the ability to enter/target lat/longs directly for a while; it would be a nice option to have.

In an age of faster than light travel....

using lat/long to navigate...

<devs> crickets .. .. ..

Reminds me of the trading interface. Our ship computer can't remember the prices from the last board it visited..

The ultimate question. How much do you automate before the game plays itself?

You could argue that people in that era would never have to bother travelling at all, which defeats the whole point of the game.

The game itself does not have many areas into which you can enter things. Like all the stuff that the third party apps do. :)

If there can be bookmarks on the galaxy map and waypoints to settlements on the system map then TWO THINGS:

1. Put the damn coordinates on the planet map instead of those stupid blue rings.
2. Let us open menu, choose bookmark.

That's it. Or just input coords manualy. TL;DR - bump.

The docking tunnel type rings from Elite 2 would be great for approach and landing at a POI/ co-ords that you could input.

I personally don't like the docking rings. All we need is to be able to manually create a PoI, just for ourselves, based on co-ordinates. I'd be more than happy with the ability to create just one (that I can change as needed, obviously :) ).

A thousand reps, OP.

This time-wasting mechanic (or lack thereof) needs an overhaul, ASAP.

When you over or under-shoot, then sigh, and have to jump back into cruise, only to do the opposite, or come off either your latitude or longitude, whichever one you're not shooting for.

Who designs this stuff? Obviously not someone with the player in mind.

Looks like Dual Universe has managed to put together a planetary map on their Pre-Alpha Build. Really hoping FD gets this in as well. Check at 3:25 mark below

At the absolute minimum we need to be able to bookmark surface co-ordinates we have been too. But there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to bookmark any given lat/long on any planet.

I agree with the OP. In the year the game takes place not to be able to enter coordinates to aim for makes no sense. You should be able to enter the numbers in and it will appear on the hud just like any planetary scan missions, except we enter then numbers manually instead.

They'll get round to it, for sure. Maybe on the same day we can zoom right in on the SRV, Google Earth style. After all, we got bookmarks didn't we?

It's slightly concerning for this thread to be ignored by Frontier though. Maybe they have read it but just simply not responded. Who knows?
