General Remove private Lobby and single Player

Given that the "new" starter systems are permit locked such that players who have achieved the first step towards any Elite rank can no longer return to the systems, maybe a permit lock could be applied to a small, previously uninhabited, volume of the galaxy - and only players in Open could enter the volume to affect the Factions, Powers, etc. seeded there.

A few hundred systems might be enough to start with - with room for growth provided by the new volume being a short (on the galactic scale) distance from the nearest system in the bubble.

Infact, as I've said... this is the "original sin" basically a game flaw as what could have driven players to confront has indeed sent most of them to another bungie-like grind (more missions, more forts, more of this... etc. etc. wasting way much more of their limited game play time). Bringing experience of my BGS wars (I don't remember how many I've done, but quite enough) when we went kaboom or kaboomed the enemy -> war ended in may be a couple of weeks (grind wars required up to 10x time).
The optionality of PvP in this game may be an issue for some players however all players bought the game on the same terms.

And that is the "original sin" of the game: BGS is all too finicky. It is absurd that players can wage such BGS wars at all. PP should of been the venue for that kind of gameplay.

A bunch of G5 engineered Plasma FDLs flying about in a small arena? That would make sense?
It would be fun to spectate...
Would also make the 2 minute CQC session a thing of the past.

5 vs 5 in a restricted area? With heal beams, focus shield/torps etc.? With a system that helps organizing, that makes it easy to spectate. It would be not only fun, it would be spectacular. Exactly.

But I would prefer somthing which is really integrated in ED in the economy. Which you can play all along.

Every, and I am sure of it can put both my hands on the fire, every powerplayer in Elite will bless the day FDEVs remove any linkage that makes BGS (government type) affecting superpowers.

She can do what she wants. The game is like it is.

But ... the feeling when you manage something which you failed before is so much nicer! From my point of view, all the solo-no shield players are missing the best experience that you can hjave in ED! And you CAN master open play, it´s not that hard.

There's a challenge for you then, fly around the galaxy 130,000ly+, paper Conda, no shields, no AFMU, no weapons.

Surely if you are challenging us to do something we have never done before, take on a bit of a challenge, the same applies to you?

You can master exploration, there's no doubt about it, challenge accepted?

Nah. No fraggs involved.

So you demand we take part in your PvP game play challenge but refuse to take part in our PvE game play challenge, I guess that ends the discussion right there then!
Just want that we all play together.

I believe "exploration" has overall limited impact to BGS/powerplay (selling explo data does have some impact, but the one-off type of the transaction makes it different from the core grind-ish BGS/powerplay activities) so that's something I'd leave out from the table...

Given we all have a choice of which game mode to play in on a session by session basis, each player's choice of which game mode to play in precedes and may over-ride any desire that others may have to play with them. Put another way, players who want all players to play together don't have a say in the matter, other than their own choice to play among other players.

I have to say that when I started playing Elite, I watched some videos about the engineering and most of them say that with non-engineered ship you don't have a chance vs an engineered one so I didn't want risk losing my ship and played in solo for about 3 months. I found a nice system under the influence of Felicia Winters and did all sorts of things from there. Then one day I just logged into Open, I went really carefully, watching my radar for indication of players, I was really on high alert all the time and then it happened - I played in Open every day for a week and hadn't met a single other player. I always play in Open now and after my 1000+ hours I have randomly encountered about 30 players out of whom only 1 attacked me. I am now in a Squadron, I keep flying in "our" space on Open and unless we wing together, I don't encounter players very often...or actually, I think I haven't encounter any player outside of a wing.

The thing is that once you leave the bunch of systems you start in, you can just find some system at the edge of the Bubble and your chances that you bump into a player is close to 0, eve less so into someone who will try to kill you. Obviously, there are places where you are almost certain to encounter other players such as Engineer bases, Community Goal sites and those stations that offer all modules for sale but you can avoid those places if you don't wanna interact with players. The only place where I got attacked and destroyed was actually an Engineer base where some jackass waited in upgraded ship and kept shooting down players who got there but once I got destroyed in my un-upgraded ship I went to a station, picked up my upgraded combat ship and went back - I only found another commander who was looking for that jackass too, so we kept patrolling there for about 15 minutes, had a cool chat together and then we left. So the problem sort of solved itself.

I understand that people don't wanna risk getting back from several thousand LY long expedition just to get blown up in the bubble and lose all the credits - I was really nervous about this very thing when I first went on a 10K LY expedition but I encountered noone on my way back. If you wanna avoid other players, then, unless someone is looking for you and knows exactly where you are, the chance you run into a player is really extremely low.

Kudos. You play the game for real.

Why leave it to chance when one can be certain?

I'm certain that I won't engage another player in PvP and certain that I don't enjoy being attacked by those who do enjoy PvP - so I don't bother with it.

Getting gud ... is fun.

Forced PvP kills this game. That is why we have private groups, Mobius and Solo.
There's no intention to force anyone into PvP, we're just discussing about linking certain activities to open-play... at least there's a general stance that powerplay could be eligible for such status if module shopping goes to the tech brokers. BGS remains on the bordeline as of course many groups mind their business within solo/PG modes... again solution may be scrap BGS from superpowers.

Many seal clubbers use power play as an excuse to demand open only. Also, read the thread title. The OP wants to abolish solo and group gated play.
