Roccat Power Grid

Just downloaded it and am trying it out - inital observations:
  • I never got the confirmation email, so I can't sign into the "store" and download grids - I can only make my own.
  • No native support for landscape - a real pain if you need to power your phone during play if the USB socket is on the bottom of the hamdset
  • It looks like there should be a "multi mode" for buttons - for example tap for supercruise, hold for hyperspace, but it's not obvious how to set that up. It looks like each button can only be activated using one of the available methods to do one function.
  • The "tabbed" panels have a memory in the game, so when you go back to the nav panel (for example) whichever tab was being viewed on your last visit is still active. This means that programming a "docking request" is difficult as you can't quarantee a macro sequence that will put the neccesry keystrokes in to get there from the current position.
.
Having said all that, it shows distinct promise for a game like E:D with complex controls...

All I do is target the station immediately I come out of SC this then orders the panels correctly so a macro will always work.

Hey Gorf, I'll try and help you with some of your questions

  • I never got the confirmation email, so I can't sign into the "store" and download grids - I can only make my own.

Try talking to our support support@roccat.org and they can reset your email for you. Make sure you check your junk folder :)
  • No native support for landscape - a real pain if you need to power your phone during play if the USB socket is on the bottom of the hamdset

No native support (The tab-bar and icons won't spin) But You can make your own landscape grids and people have been, here's a video covering how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoqjNx5PNqg
  • It looks like there should be a "multi mode" for buttons - for example tap for supercruise, hold for hyperspace, but it's not obvious how to set that up. It looks like each button can only be activated using one of the available methods to do one function.

You can bind many functions to one control, this however means creating a Plug in control or editing our control templates which is a bit more advanced. We go over this in our toggle button tutorial: https://youtu.be/hSf279Fc_tQ
  • The "tabbed" panels have a memory in the game, so when you go back to the nav panel (for example) whichever tab was being viewed on your last visit is still active. This means that programming a "docking request" is difficult as you can't guarantee a macro sequence that will put the necessary keystrokes in to get there from the current position.

If a menu has a locked position where you can't move a cursor or selection any further if you keep pressing the button in the same direction (i.e. top left) you can kind of use this this a workaround in the macro, basically resetting the position of the highlighted function or sub menu. This is a bit more complex of a macro and I'm not sure if that would apply here.

I hope this helps :)

Cheers Vulcan24v and CptMunta.

I had a think about the docking issue, and realised it's very rare that I do anything in front of the station - it's almost always drop from SC then dock. I may occasionally mess up by departing the station without cashing in bounties or similar, but the normal course of play should mean that the left panel is in a "predictable" state.

I'll contact support about the email - it's not in spam (I checked both - for some reason, Gmail has two).

I'm already designing a landscape grid. It looks terrible compared to the stock layout, but that's just down to my poor design skills, so I'll soon be rotating a copy of the supplied PNGs.

I saw the video about toggle buttons, but I'm not yet experienced enough with the basics to be delving into that, yet. With that sort of thing, it helps to know that an advanced feature is there so it can be used if needed - I never thought it could be used to provide a dual function for the same button though (depending on press or hold). Will use two buttons for now, and come back to it eventually.

Thanks for a very useful tool at obviously the best ever price point. ;)

There must have been something wrong with an email server somewhere. It arrived last night one minute after midnight BST, but the date stamp was exactly right for when I created the account.

Hi Gorf, just checking in. So can you log in ok now? Or did the request expire by then?

Super amazing

Recently discovered this program whilst reading a review on the Internet. It seemed to be pretty Impressive. So I hit the App Store and downloaded onto my iPad. And downloaded onto my PC also and began to assign keys.
Then decided to search the forum here for any added info, chuckled to myself as of course lots of people are using this and have designed their own grids.
Really really impressed ! It's so much easier to use this interface instead of navigating the control panels of your ship. Included my effort for marks out of ten. Lol.

Having difficulty in finding the right way to assign the macro code for 'request docking'. It's a tricky one.

Thanks for looking. I am Flimley.

Roccat Power Grid really needs a easy landscape mode with *.rpgp packages that allow Tablet to flip landscape, so power connecter can be either left/right........... if only Turner had developed Power Grid , and not the portrait thinking

Is there a curated list of recommended grids? I'm not about to test the 40+ grids on the store, and there's no way to filter by rating - and only a few of them are rated, anyway.

It's not supported officially by the software but is possible and very easy:

We ran a competition in the forums a while back where Elite Dangerous community members voted on the grids that might be a good place to start:

Found a grid I liked , tried to edit move stuff around , mix and match with other Landscape grid icons , got some working ( noidea how !) others in same grid no luck , just wouldn't let me edit or delete that 1 space/grid, and add the one I wanted, is there a example some where of how to EDIT an existing GRID ? !

For those that don't have android or ios tablets but have windows based tablet or lappy. You can use that too. I have a surface tablet and I run Blustacks on it (which turns it into an Android device ) and then then run roccat on that.

Can you tell me mate how you upload them to the store, the process seems broken to me. Theres nothing after stage 2.0 which is the description sectopm, no option to upload.

For the record I use a modified version of you original one, was really helpful.

Guys, need help. Installed the Power Grid. Created custom grid to complement my X-55 setup. The problem I have - Elite doesn't register the commands from Power Grid. Any other software shows corresponding keystrokes, Elite doesn't. Anyone ran into this?

RESOLVED: need to run host software as administrator.
