Roccat Power Grid

I have made a few, this is my latest one, it is horizontal and has two pages designed for use on my Nexus 7. It has sounds attached to the buttons but I'm not sure if they are in the download pack as I couldn't quite figure out if I had packaged them with the upload.

As with all of these packages if you decide to try it please ensure the buttons are set to the same as you use in game, I will not be held responsible for you ejecting 50 tons of cargo when you try to set silent running... :):):):)

For the request docking to work you need to do two things..
First set up your left side panels to the keys I use in the macro which are:
UI panel left - numpad 1
UI panel down- numpad 3
UI panel select- numpad 4
Next panel- numpad 2
Prev panel- numpad 5

Secondly in game when you are approaching a station target it so it's image shows on your left hand hud.

The Tracker button just re-centres my EDTracker device.

A quick trip to the local megamarket and five minutes later I have two RCA 7" quadcore tablets for well under $200 - which I should have just done in the first place.

Just be careful with those RCA's. They're notorious for having bad batteries that swell up and split the case open.

That's probably why they are under $100 each :D

One has already developed a dodgy micro-SD connection - it's been used exactly twice. Also - the screens in portrait view have atrocious shimmer, but they are fine in landscape. I actually think they have a polarizing filter the wrong way round inside. Got to love cheap consumer electronics :D

It's even funnier when you find out that RCA doesn't have anything to do with them. Other than selling the rights to their name to several Asian fly by night el-cheapo electronics vendors. :D

Hi,

Just downloaded and having a play with it, however I'm unable to see how to create a "Toggle" button.

I'd like to change either the button Text, Colour, Graphic upon having pressed the button.

Has anyone managed to work out how this can be done?

I'm presuming it can as on two of their default grids "Sound Control" & "TALK FX Settings" they have buttons that do change once pressed.

Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

Hey guys we’ve been making some headway and I wanted to update you on what’s going on with Roccat and Power-grid

Its also amazing for those who have built mini cockpits. Routing controls to alternate display devices is nearly impossible with most games. This kind of stuff makes it fun.

Cheers this is always nice to here :) Kudos to the grid developers though

Do you have an Ipad version so we can have larger grids ?

This looks great! And it's free? How are they making money?
Would love an iPad version.

A fix for iPad not in the works at this time sorry. Our upcoming software will work with iPad though. If you want to support Power-Grid you can purchase a Tab slot :)

Through making official 'grids' for their store. I am guessing this is why they are more focused lately on this, which has a side effect of slowing down the app clients and host development. I'm guessing of course. But there has been a lack of major patching and updates for the host and apps (android for me). When most if not all of us are now using tablets ranging in sixes up to 10inch, and the apps don't really support them that well. The grids and apps were meant for mobile phones and maybe small tablets at most. So the graphics look too odd, and there are way too few tablet options.

The grids we make for the store aren't taking away from the software development side at Roccat. We are creating something bigger and better that Power-Grid and that’s why updates have been so slow. This is something rebuilt from the ground up and is our Swarm Software.

Swarm will support
  • Landscape and Portrait
  • Windows Phone!
  • Tablet support
  • More display resolutions

We’ve learned a lot from Power-Grid and you’ll see it live on in the Swarm software with many of the things you guys have been asking for.

Powergrid has some fantastic potential and I fully support the devs, I just wish we'd see more core host and client forward development.
Thanks heaps Johnny, you are one of the guys that have been singing the praises of Power-Grid from the start. We have not and will not abandon Power-Grid and its community. While a new version of Power-Grid as you know it now, is not in the works, We will continue to roll out bug fixes as they pop up as we have been. We have a control set coming out to you guys with Toggle buttons and levers and a bunch of other fun stuff.
Not only that, were going to crack open the Power-Grid SDK in a Video Tutorial Series and show you guys how we make Plug In grids that go beyond the Power-Grid editors limitations

I’m excited what you guys will come up with once these advanced controls and once you guys have dabbled with the SDK.

A toggle button with the editor isn't possible, but we'll be have some Advanced controls in the works which you'll be able to download soon. The graphics of these can be easily edited with the software development kit, we have a tutorial coming up to show you how. :)

This is the first I am reading about 'Swarm'. Ok so you've been busy on something new to replace powergrid, this sounds great and I'm pleasantly surprised with this. I look forward to trying it.

Thanks for taking the time to bring us up to date. And keep up the great work :)

I'm so confused with the power-grid! I downloaded a panel, unzipped it but have no idea how to import it into Roccat Power-Grid. Unzipped, it's just a bunch of .json files (controls.json, grids.json and info.json) with a folder containing mp3, png and wav files.
What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help please?

Don't unzip the file. Right click it and select "Open With" Then select Power-Grid from your programs list.
Sometimes file compression programs associate our .rpgp extension with them and unzip the package.
You can also open power-grid and just drag and drop the file in that way. Make sure you tick both the controls and grid boxes when you import

Hope this helps

I really dont understand why this thing has to log in to an external server or at least let you still connect when their end fails. I guess knowing what key i'm pressing is more important to them than actually owning a worthwhile application!

Can confirm its back on line now. I really like RPG, its become a mainstay in how I game but I hate that it has to call home and when it cant it fails. CprMunta, is there no way they can have a fall back solution so that it will at least run and let you connect to it locally if it cant "phone home"?

another user linked this in another thread ,, so I had ago at it

Here for more info

I have not found any issues as of yet ,, making a standard grid is very very easy ,, I have it working off my phone and my 2 tablets ,
the response is just the same as using VA ....

hope it helps others , I will be uploading my templates when I finally finish them

Enjoy Cmdr's

Oh the hours im going to waste playing around with that lol, it'll work nicely alongside the new Tyon R3 I ordered yesterday :)

Hey Guys here's our first part in the Power-Grid Power User video series.

This video is about landscape mode as well as button sizes and directories.

http://youtu.be/CoqjNx5PNqg

We are going to diving into the Plug-in files in the next video, this is a primer really to get people started.

Next video we will be releasing a advanced controls grid with toggle buttons, rotatory knobs, levers etc. These plug in controls can be used by you guys in custom grids with your own graphics, you will just have to point the grid to the graphics in the JSON files (But I'm getting ahead of myself)

Anyways I hope you guys enjoy the video. :)

An offline mode would be great for when we have server issues, this however is very rare. It's not something we can see changing in the near future. We will be looking into this for Swarm though.

Oh man, nice purchase!

Using the SDK and Talk FX you could even get the Ryos to perform lighting effects when you push button specific buttons on your grid. If you guys are interested we could have a look at this for those of you with ROCCAT Talk FX products.

Big sloppy wet thank you Telnets and Moody for outstanding work! I went out and bought two extra cheap tablets specifically for these grids so I could have 3 working MFDs.

Thumbs up fellas! A big thank you to everyone else that shared their work as well! :)
