Sidechat

So i got a call today from a friend because there was an adder in his moms kitchen, and since im the animal guy in my friend group and keep reptiles he asked if i could safely remove it.
Said sure and grabed some thick gloves, a net and a box and go over there. The snake was hiding in a corner under a little shelf, probably just as scared as my friend and his mom :D.
Well turns out it wasnt an adder, not even a snake lol. It was just a slowworm, or a legless lizard for anyone not familiar, completely harmless.
Got a quick laugh out of my friend and his mom freaking out when i just picked the little guy up with my bare hands and put it in a box and let him go near a little creek on the way home afterwards.
Its kinda crazy to me how there are just 2 venomous snakes living over here that are potentially dangerous and people can even identify them, or tell them apart from legless lizards :D
Ah that reminds me of a local community scare with the same mixup of 'snakes', the local school panicked and called pest control thinking a venomous snake was on school grounds but no just a harmless slowworm. Most people here have never seen an adder as they are so rare to find unless you know exactly where to look (in my case often deep in the moorlands where average people don't go).

I saw adders just a couple of times, Although i can imagine i probably walked by dozens of them because when they sit ontop of leaflitter and such the basicly turn invisible with their patterning. Grass snakes you see decently often around me, walk around a pond or creek in the summer and you will probably see one eventually, probably because they arent as crypticly colored, diurnal and pretty active when the weather is nice.
And slowworms i find chilling in our compost every now and again :D

When we were in lockdown and the wildlife started to get more active without humans my town was really worried about coyotes. There was allegedly one that was walking around with a bloody face that people were getting paranoid about. One actually attacked my friend’s dog. He was okay, just some minor scratches. But that sure was a time.

It's just real expensive, now. It's a shame, too...

But that won't stop me🤣
I have my eye on the Mos Eisley Cantina, and we plan to get it before the year ends...

Also, why are red Clone Captains and blue Clone Lieutenants expensive? I have 1 of each, but they are a lot of money now

Yeah just saw the new barad dur this morning at its insane. Dont wanna choose between paying rent and buying a lego set tho 😂

Lego is cool. I like helping my friend's kid build his sets. I say "helping", really he flashes through the instructions on his ipad and slaps up a jet plane before I can finish saying "what shall we build? A house?" It is so expensive now, it's a shame in a way but then again, if it wasn't I expect Dave would've covered every surface in our house with it long ago. We already have a whole wall devoted to board games, and then there are the drawers of console stuff

I mean it was always expensive, but in recent years it got kinda ridiculous

I saw an adder just once, walking in the woods with my dad when I was about 6. It slid across the floor right in front of us and I literally peed my pants. Like soaked them. Haha. Core memory.

I love snakes though. It was just the surprise that scared me. London Zoo did open nights for members and I remember them bringing out a big snake so we could touch it and learn that it was really smooth and soft, not slimy. I loved them ever since then and have gotten to hold cool snakes and have them on my shoulders. Shows how important zoos are for educating kids.

Sold my star wars and castle sets last year and got a pretty decent amount for it, basicly payed for my vacation that year lol.
But it still got quite a bit of lego from my childhood somewhere. Pretty much the entire waves of the vikings, aqua raiders and spongebob themes, anyone knows if those are sought after these days and go for something?

Yeah i love snakes aswell. Would already have one if my mom would allow me to put frozen mice in the freezer lol, maybe i set up one of those mini ones for myself :D. But until that i gotta stick to lizards.
Jungle carpet python is an absolute dream species for and definetly on my bucket list

The SpongeBob ones, depending on the set, can go for some serious cash, even used. People love that stuff. I have a random squidward torso in my collection I got in an eBay haul as well as a clone wars Ahsoka torso and legs, I really wish the head was in there too but oh well. Anyways yeah the SpongeBob stuff is valuable!

I have recently just added myself to the forums and am making this my first post! This is my list of animals I have seen in zoos/aquariums. It may not be entirely accurate as it has been a number of years since I have been to some of the zoos but I think it is the best I can do right now.

Here is a list of the places I have seen them:
. Franklin Park Zoo, Boston MA
. Stone Zoo, Stoneham MA
. Southwick’s Zoo, Southwick MA
. Capron Park Zoo, Attleboro MA
. Roger Williams Park Zoo, Providence RI
. New England Aquarium, Boston MA
. National Zoo, Washington D.C
. Maine Wildlife Park, Gray ME
. Mystic Aquarium, Mystic CN
. Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Orlando FL
. The Seas with Nemo and friends, Orlando FL
. Sea World, Orlando FL
. My real life backyard, MA
. Other places I’ve randomly seen animals
My first post, definitely come a long way lol
