So............have you died yet?

Took on an expert Cobra in a resource extraction site, he left me with a gaping hole in my windscreen, I got back to the station but died just outside the entrance.

Noooooooooo!

I was barged out of the way by a Federal Dropship while exiting a station. Didn't indicate or anything. :S After getting stuck in a wall and then managing to put myself free with much damage, the station then kindly opened up on me for trespassing and blew my ship to bits that I had carefully looked after since gamma. In fact I had just spent a fortune repairing it beforehand. Oh well, Happy Christmas from Elite Dangerous :D

Mining away, on to the next rock - Quite a long gap to the next rock.
Look round at the TV for a few secs - Boom! Faceplant straight into an asteroid, dead.
Cost me about 300k that did.

Ok this this next one didn't kill me, but I think it will kill a few of you..
Taking on an assassination mission to kill an Anaconda. Before the fight started it was a face off, I was trying to get behind him by thrusting up and around, but he was turning as quick as I was moving..
It spat out a blue bolt (Plasma Accelerator!) - BAM, 51% hull in 1 shot.
Bearing in mind I had full shields (Upgraded to B rated shields at that!) and I'm in a Cobra and I almost got 1 shot!

I boosted away and survived with many turrets shooting me.

DO NOT get hit by a plasma accelerator hehe

Jumped on unidentified signal on anarchy system with basic freewinder. Random NPC on some fancy looking ship started shooting at me with a barrage of missiles. Barely evaded/jumped out.

I died twice and both times were because of my own stupidty. The first time was in a brand new Viper, which I bought after I had a fully kitted Cobra, because I wanted to try it out as a pure fighter-ship. So the first time I undocked, I retracted my landing gear, put full pips in engines and tried to fly out at full throttle, like I used to do with my Cobra. Well, I should have calculated, that t Viper handles a little diffrently. I crashed in to the station wall a few meters above the slot.

The second time was only yesterday, when I was really tired and I just wanted to dock and go to bed and I already had taken off my headphones, which was part of my mistake. I approached the station as usual went through the slot and was looking for my docking bay. By the time I realized that there was no docking bay assigned to me, because I forgot to request docking, it was already too late: The "leave station now" timer was at 0:04 and about six seconds later I was space dust. Had I worn my headphones, I'd have heard the warning immediately and could have reacted. But meh.. these things happen.

The funny thing is, that I always manage to escape combat barely alive, but stations kill me. Shortly before the Viper incident, I was fighting 3 wanted ASPs with my Cobra, and they even managed to almost take out my thrusters, before I dusted the last of them and I was at 7% hull, but I made it. And a few hours later I just fly into a wall.

5 insurance claims here, but none since gamma ended so far, though had a close call getting 'trapped' in a brown dwarf on entering a new system (not sure if this is a bug or not?) - I was seemingly trapped by its gravitational pull as soon as I entered and had to take the ship to around 180 degrees to FSD out of there alive. 1st death ran out of fuel and had to auto-destruct, 2nd exiting a station into the rear-end of a type-9 which I completely failed to see despite the enormous size of the thing. The other 3 have been to NPCs (not met anyone online yet in my meanderings).

i've died twice: once boosting an un-shielded hauler out of the docking bay and directly into the front of a Type 9 on approach. The second time, after getting cocky by killing several NPCs by ramming with my Viper and new A class shields, I rammed directly into the front of a cobra I was fighting. Apparently the game take relative motion into account and ramming from behind is not the same as a head on collision :p

DEATH BY CUTENESS:

exiting station : Speed good - check, Gear up- Check , In the slot - check ..... $400 Cr. fine WTH? Attacking station WTH? using joystick-keyboard, Did not fire???? WTH? BOOOOOOOSSSTTTT - Look to right. New kitten, got 2wks ago - 4mo.old, has paw on mouse button and holding down. Look back - dead......

LOL, my own dam fault , should have been paying attention to the kitten (I HAVE BEEN THUS WARNED).. :)

I finally got my sol permit and decided to take my unshielded hauler there. Upon arriving I was greeted by a player interdiction which I lost. The player demanded that I drop my cargo or die. I told him I didn't have any cargo (I didnt) and even offered to stop and let him scan me for cargo. He immediately proceeded to blow my fragile hauler to pieces.
10/10 will continue to play

And my first death was in a combat zone, my side had just finished off all the opponents. So I slowed down, and started to reallocate power to recharge shields and weapons, next thing I know an allied sidewinder went full bore through the middle of my ship (top to bottom). The prox warning was too little, too late.

I've just died because of autodocking, with full gold cargo (and all my money). My ship gone on another ship, lost docking access for some reason, and got shots inside station... I've ticket it but not sure how long support will respond...

I also died last time with full cargo (104t) of gold. But it was my fault as I forgot to ask for docking permission, went in and was killed by station defences... ;-) It is a bit too harsh panaulty for traspassing... I lost ca. 1kk of credits. :-(

Not been killed since release but died during testing.I think I was down to ten pet cent hull the other day managed to limp back to a station though.

Oh, the number of times I've seen that insurance screen...

Memorable:

- Early Beta, had me a couple of billion cr due to exploit in bounty system. Practised Type-9 docking at high speed. Crashed pretty hard.

- Early Beta in a conflict zone. Engaging another CMDR, I backed my Anaconda full speed right into a capital ship. If that was an intentional maneuver from my adversary, then cudos and hats off.

- Late Beta, no more billions, had just worked up to a Viper, got into a mess with some Security Eagles when bounty hunting AND carrying illegal cargo... Couldn't affort insurance. Stopped playing for a while.

Gamma phase was pretty calm. No deaths. Didn't play much though.

2 deaths since launch. Both in the imperial Bounty Eagle, both in the intense conflict zones around Sorbago. Both very quick kills from turret fire, probably critical hits to power plant right after shield failure. Them Pythons are pretty tough.

I was at a nav beacon and before I could say "that's an interesting maneuver" an anaconda somehow boosted upwards and slammed into my asp. I went from full hull and shields to none at all instantly.
