Spring dlc Speculation 2023

Using twilight as an example , a petting zoo would be a very mixed response leaning on negative. A bunch of lackluster animals like goat and cows would make the twilight roster seem a wonderfully diverse pack. There was heavy disagreement that skunk and racoon should of even been considered especially when public voices make a full on nocturnal pack heavily anticipated. Now what about some random cows, chicken, and goat?

The Tasmanian devil, fossa, primates and even sloth are still at the forefront of wishlists with little to no love for domesticated animals even for a spring themed pack. We can't say exactly if frontier is considering a petting zoo or not but given the current trend of animals I highly doubt it
Then trash panda rebellion pressed f to doubt and in the end we won
Do i need to go around and spread donkey dominaton and the goat goat to ne able to build my petting zoos?

Please don't. These "crusades" to get specific species are tiresome, at least to me. I'd really like to be able to just discuss the gsme without people randomly shouting animal nsmes and slogans as part of a bandwagon.

Not everyone wanted the raccoon, not everyone wants the wolverine, and so on. No need to shout about them at every turn.

What a domestic animal pack can do that a wild based animal pack can't do to the same degree is a lot of color morphs.

For that alone I think it could become quite popular among the average player.
This could honestly be really cool.
Imagine we get something like 4 different patterns, lets say one unicolored, one with spots, one thats one color on the front and one on the back and one thats a mix with 3 different colors and then also lets say 5 different colors that based on genetics could fill the different color "zones", for example white, black, light brown, dark brown and a redish brown.
Overall a bit more randomised coats would be really nice and domestic animals would be a great testing ground

I'm wondering if Frontier will switch the DLC list again with a scenery pack to start with this time. Think about it,

2021
1. Animal Pack
2. Scenery Pack
3. Animal Pack
4. Scenery Pack

2022
1. Animal Pack
2. Scenery Pack
3. Scenery Pack
4. Animal Pack

2023
1. Scenery Pack
2. Animal Pack
3. Animal Pack
4. Scenery Pack

I could be wrong, but with how many times Frontier has surprised us with this year, I won't be surprised to be surprised if they did it next year.

Again, I think it's pretty obvious the order was only switched up to market the Halloween Pack during Halloween. Whether they revert back to a normal order of business in March or switch to a new order with a scenery pack obviously remains to be seen, but I think expecting this to be indicative of a 'new pattern' is really jumping the gun.

Also interesting about a petting zoo pack would be, that most people cant agree on what should actually be in it, as most categorys of animals have atleast 2 great choices and sometimes even 2 more in breeds.

For example we got goat vs sheep, with the again the kamerun sheep vs the ouessant sheep for the sheep breed.
African pigmy goat or blasphemie i say though.

Similar its donkey vs shetland pony, kuneku vs potbellied pig while also versing all kinds of birds like ducks, goose and chickens and their variants.

Even the one animal that most people can agree on, a breed of cattle, is in a constant state of battle royale for what cattle?
Milk cattle, scottish highland, watussi, texas longhorn, etc.

And this doesnt even include rodents like bunnys and guineapigs or other weirder inclusions like a dromedary.

It feels like both the if and then the quision of whos included are among the most divise of all pack idears

I guess there's quite a divided line on the understanding what a standard petting zoo should include rather looking at oh my zoo has this so this must in in a petting zoo pack.
However how does one define a 'standard' petting zoo considering each and every country will probably show a different selection of domesticated animals. If people can't agree on rather straightforward packs how on earth would one decide this

Really? I can't say I've really noticed any real discord around domestic animals, except for the obvious "I want it/I don't want it" debate.
Its pretty much most people agreeing that it should be a scenery pack and that we propaply will only get exotic domesticated animals like the dromedary or the yak from other packs.
Most go for a pack like 1 equid, 1 caprine, 1 cow, 1 wild card but most often its either a pig, a duck, a goose, a chicken or some kind of rodent or something exotic.
The problem is that more then any other pack while pretty much everyone agrees that its a much better fit for a scenery pack youve got like 10 animals that can be considerd essential to the theme, that all got many different breeds and variations + weirdo picks.
For example id want budgies or zebra finches as the exhibit animals, while others go to common pet reptiles like the bearded dragon or even fish and mammals like the koi or mice.
The completle lack of domestics was compareable to the allmost animal less continents at the start of the game, but while all of them allready got their packs with no brainer picks, we only really got the lama and the water buffalo if you want to use it that way, with the reindeer, fallow deer and bactrian camel fitting aswell if you stretch enough.
Its really this lack of basics for whats easily the most common zoo area and the sheer number of animals that can be considerd to be a baseline pick are what makes it atleadt imo so much harder to nail down.
Id personally make a pack of the domestic donkey, african pygmy goat, mallard duck and propaply one exotic with something like the yak, watussi cattle or dromedary + either the budgie or zebra finch for the WE.
But i also totally understand the approach of shetland pony, a larger bunny breed, the kuneku pig and a domestic goose with something like the mice as exhibit or having the scottish highland cattle, guinea pig, chicken and ouessant sheep with pidgeons for the WE.
All 3 of these packs and propapply many more are all appealing and all add 5 complete no brainers for a domestics pack, but none of them had overlap in even one animal.
And thats something that cant really be said about most other packs, no matter how wild the idear their are allways atleast 1 or 2 animals people agree on as musts.

Finally someone who gets it. Hearing the people go about the wolverine, fossa, Tasmanian devil, and kiwi incessantly is very annoying and I feel like it could end up being harassing the staff and devs.

It’s literally just for fun I personally haven’t seen anyone on these “crusades” be rude or overly annoying. @KönigDerKaffeebohnen would post here and there about raccoons it wasn’t spammy or crazy. Now with the Wolverine one we “started” we just post when it’s relevant with the hashtag #GuloGuloGormets it’s not spammy or anything and if there has been a spammy one then please show me cause I’ve just seen fun little movements for a part of the community to rally behind

Fun little comments, that come in randomly in unrelated threads and often derail the conversation. Can you not see how it can be annoying?

I kind of doubt the raccoon was chosen because of the posts anyway honestly. I think frontier sat down and needed a pack idea and thought of the theme being Halloween and the animals chosen happened to be crepuscular and the raccoon fit the bill. I’ve just always thought whatever animals best fit the pack theme got the best chance of being chosen.

Well assuming that i am the main reason we got the racoon obviously, while flattering, propaply is very much untrue, but its more fun to think that they saw my posts and were like "huh, lets gift this guys in particular a very special happy surprise".
The fact that the twillight oack came out close to my birthday also ofcourse doesnt mean anything, but no one can stop me from seeing this little man as my very own special birthday present.
Its just nice :)

But at the same time yoav isnt wrong.
While i personally do think that i didnt spam the trash panda rebellion, as it mostly was just an endline for a post defending the racoon (because for some reason people really regulary were trashing the racoon i particular), but i totally understand that talking to much about specific animals can be annoying and just disruptive of the discussion sometimes.
For a recent example, the spain pack and the iberian pig were simply spammed no matter the context with low effort posts, but even when they are of higher effort they sometimes are just in the wrong place like all the advertisement in the meta wishlist.

Writing slogans is fun, but they only stay charming aslong as we dont disrubt discussions with them

I agree with the Iberia one but for the most part they have come up only in relevant conversation and when it isn’t it’s rightfully called out. Idk I just think as long as it remains that way, which it has for the most part, then there’s no reason to regulate some forum users’ fun. I’m never really bothered by them so maybe I’m just biased/ immune to it.

We're at the point (and have been for a while) that a crusade for certain animals is going to get a smaller number of joiners than animals in the past. That doesn't mean that certain animals won't get brought up repeatedly, especially those near the top of the meta-list. Which makes sense, more people want them, thus more people to talk about them. But there's nothing going on like what was happening with the Capybara prior to wetlands, which was probably deserved at that point. Most people "knew" or accepted that it almost certainly was coming, it just took time..it was practically a guarantee at that point.

There are no guarantees left. Just animals that are "more likely" or "less likely" to make it in. Even with that though, the more likely ones still have more than half the community not considering them essential - and I'm going by the meta-list and the acknowledgement that not everyone would have cast a vote surely. Species like the Tasmanian Devil, an Old World Porcupine, a Gibbon (I still maintain it's not really as popularly wanted now but I understand why it remains so high on the list), the Red River Hog, the Secretary Bird and a Sloth, and finally the Wolverine (if for no other reason than that's it's the only "colder weather" animal in the list's top 10) are the core animals that people have been talking about for some time now. And will continue to do so. If it's a Crusade, it's not a new one. Also keeping in mind that oftentimes, the push for animals may seem stronger than it is, because a few people may discuss them often. I'm guilty of that myself, hello Meerkat/Capybara/Wombat posts lol. 10 people each mentioning them 10 times a day skews the idea of how badly they're wanted, versus 100 people mentioning them once.

Sometimes it's good to just take a step back and see what else may actually be going on. Is it what it appears to be, or just a few voices speaking up often? Not that there's anything wrong with that either, I just don't see it as being a crusade.
