That as well. They were in Brookfield zoo though for a couple yearsI think it's more along the lines of hard to capture animals from such an isolated location and possibly ethical/legal issues with the Ecuador government

I'm not knowledgeable in this, but if the specific diet is studied enough, can't zoos kinda re-create it? Sorta?I think it's more along the lines of hard to capture animals from such an isolated location and possibly ethical/legal issues with the Ecuador government. Same issues with Galapagos penguins and fur seals that needed like a very specific diet like the proboscis monkey has to survive on the correct food
Well take giant pandas for example, some zoos can actually grow fresh bamboo while other zoos have to import the bamboo directly from China considering how picky giant panda are on the quality and types of bamboo. The main reason of course is money, can the zoo afford to import fresh food in large quantities every single month? Another reason is the animal has evolved with such a certain kind of food that only that specific region has, feeding the animal a substitution food that may be similar can still be fatal for some like proboscis monkeysI'm not knowledgeable in this, but if the specific diet is studied enough, can't zoos kinda re-create it? Actually no.They are hard to keep them in captivity?
I still think an island pack needs to focus on endemics, which rules out many marine animals.Still disappoints me marine animals are never suggested for island packs
Hawaiian monk seal, anyone? I think it'd be a solid choice for a warm climate seal. Then we could use a cold climate seal lion (or the walrus, because they seem to be basically sea lions with tusks)I still think an island pack needs to focus on endemics, which rules out many marine animals.
I totally agree with this. I know that hawksbill sea turtles and green sea turtles have been in captivity. Any other species of sea turtle?I’d much rather have a sea turtle as a “island hopper” coastal animal. People always seem to forget that a sea turtle is completely possible with the current mechanics. I understand they’re in the water 99.9 % of time but for the game they’d totally work as is. Just go on land for reproduction. I just want a sea turtle so badly at this point
loggerhead is the other common sea turtle , leatherback is not in captivity. Also the critically endangered kemp's ridley sea turtle are found in some aquariumsI totally agree with this. I know that hawksbill sea turtles and green sea turtles have been in captivity. Any other species of sea turtle?
My personal favorite is the leatherback, but I'm not sure if they're found in captivity at all
Well darn. Ok fine, any sea turtle thenloggerhead is the other common sea turtle , leatherback is not in captivity
Leatherbacks are pelagic animals, compared tk the other sea turtles which tend to be coastal. My personal favorite is the leatherback, but I'm not sure if they're found in captivity at all
Yeah, I thought so, but there are always surprises, so I was kinda hopingLeatherbacks are pelagic animals, compared tk the other sea turtles which tend to be coastal.
As such the leatherback fare very badly in captivity
The (short beaked) echidna doesn’t belong in an island pack which, IMO, should consist of animals found primarily on islands rather than continents. A tree kangaroo would be better or, to give some love to other parts of the world, a Hawaiian monk seal, nene, or the Scottish wild cat (my preference would be the tree kangaroo though).Echidna would be agreat addition for an island dlc. But I have a feeling most of the choices I see for island dlcs are around australia.
- Echidna
- Tasmanian Devil
- Kiwi
- Fossa
Outside of Fossa, most of these are ocenian creatures. Tasmanian Devil would work in a woodland pack or an endangered species pack (yeah we have conservation, but one focused in most endangered species without a theme building)
The aquarium I used to work in had a flat-backed sea turtle - all the marine turtles there were rescues and he was released after a couple of years as far as I can remember.I totally agree with this. I know that hawksbill sea turtles and green sea turtles have been in captivity. Any other species of sea turtle?
My personal favorite is the leatherback, but I'm not sure if they're found in captivity at all
I could see one of them getting swapped out if Frontier doesn't want to make four unique rigs in one, e.g. moving the tree kangaroo to a rainforest pack and having a Caribbean Flamingo in its stead.Honestly, we've discussed the specific lineup of Tasmanian devil, tree kangaroo, kiwi, and fossa so much that at this point it would feel a bit jarring if we got a non-animal Islands Pack with any other roster. Buuuut for that same reason, I totally expect at least one substitution. Ideally, though, I'm going to keep hoping for any Islands pack we get to be an Animal Pack, because that's the most obvious way for the tanuki to get in imo.
