Spring dlc Speculation 2023

Ok y'all, for a tropical and/or treetops pack, what monkey would y'all choose (this is assuming we get only 1 primate)

The problem for me is that there are too many great choices, especially for New World monkeys:
  1. Black howler monkey
  2. Bald uakari
  3. Geoffrey's spider monkey
  4. White-faced saki
In my opinion, having a DLC with all 4 species would be wonderful, but if I had to choose:

I'd take them all🤪
Well one could EASILY fill a whole animal pack with monkey but yeah that probably not gonna happen. Tho i think a tropical and a treetops pack specificly would include more than one monkey, as animal pack anyways.
For a Rainforest animal pack i think i would be cool to include a SA species and one from afrika. Id choose White faced sakis for SA because they are the most common NW monkey species in zoos to my knowledge and would be easier to animate than something like spidermonkeys, which i think would be a factor for a pack that potentionally could include sloths and co. My second pick would be either the de brazza monkey or diana monkey, i chose them over the highly requested manteled guereza since they are more visually distinct ( Sakis and guerezas both being more stocky mostly black monkeys with bushy tails and white faces)

I don't know that i can even pick out one dream pack. Rainforests? Avian? Islands and Highlands skew a bit lower for me, and Drylands and Farmlands skew even lower than that - but they'd all potentially have animals I'd like to see to varying degrees. It's so hard to choose...especially between the first two, so I'm going to choose both.

Rainforests:

Brown Throated Three Toed Sloth - this is my ideal Sloth choice even though I'd be happy with any and I realize the two toed sloths are probably more likely and popularly requested.
Red River Hog
Howler Monkey
Lar Gibbon
Squirrel Monkey
Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo (If there's an island pack later, the Little Blue Penguin could take a spot)
Shoebill Stork
Macaws 4/5 different WTE or non-WTE - at very least, Scarlet, Hyacinth, Blue and Yellow and Military(Green)

Avians:
Shoebill Stork - Habitat
Northern Brown Kiwi - Habitat
Scarlet Ibis - Habitat (I know many say it should be an exhibit bird, dont' care, this is my dream pack.)
Secretary Bird - Habitat
Macaws - Scarlet and Hyacinth - non-WTE
Eagles - Golden and Bald non-WTE
Toucans - Toco and Keel-Billed non-WTE
Hornbills - Rhinoceros and Yellow-Casqued - non-WTE though I'm not picky on the second species, I really want the Rhinoceros since that's what my local zoo has.

For the Avian pack I felt like it would be too much to ask for 4 of each Exhibit bird, even though it's my dream pack. Since there's 4 different types of birds, 2 each felt right to me. Even then, it was hard to not choose other bird groups like Owls, Kingfishers, Woodpeckers and Cockatoos. Maybe those could show up in some other pack, or at least most of them.

If arboreal pack the spider monkey, if rainforest then howler.

At the very least, I would certainly like to see:

1) a tamarin - preferably Golden Lion Tamarin

2) Squirrel Monkey - very common, basic species. As a bonus they can be combined with Capybaras!

3) Some unique looking species - Howler Monkey or White-Faced Saki.

4) some kind of African Tropical Monkey - De Brazza Monkey looks unique

Hey i got fun idea for everyone. In contrast to the nightmare ideas yoav_r brought up, what would be your absolute dream. You don't have to worry about how long things would take to develop or what the community would like. Just strictly what would be the perfect pack for you?
Dream pack.... Miscellaneous Animal Pack :ROFLMAO:

Sulawesi Crested Black Macaque
Red River Hog
Ring tailed Coati
Crested Porcupine
Spectacled Bear
Grey Crowned Crane
E: Panther Chameleon, Thorny Devil, Malagasy Big headed River Turtle, Mountain Chicken, Burmese Python
E: Golden Eagle, Scarlet Macaw, Northern Bald Ibis, Bali Myna and Kookaburra

#2- that's great stuff! I feel like the developers should make the Capybara an easter egg animal as an inside joke, that it could live with all animals with no issues like predator/prey etc. Obviously, not realistic at all and there's like zero chance they'd do that.

Also point 2. This is just IMO of course but I'd much prefer the Squirrel Monkey to the Spider Monkey.

I would say black howler, but Geoffrey's spider monkey is very close behind. I honestly like the spider monkey more, but I think the black howler is more important to have.

Squirrel monkey, mantled guereza/colobus, and some kind of baboon are my current 1st tier must have monkeys.

2nd tier are spider, howler, tamarin, a second African monkey, a more common Asian monkey, and (not a monkey but still wanted) Lar Gibbon.

Primates IMO are the mammal family that is most needing additional bolstering, even if I'm not I'm personally wanting them intensely, it's fairly obvious to me this is the one mammal family where Frontier is lacking the most.

Howler Monkey
Lar Gibbon
Squirrel Monkey
Baboon (Olive or Hamadryas preferred)
Spider Monkey
Tamarin (Golden Lion or Emperor preferred)
Aye Aye
(Not sure on the exhibit)

I'd buy it for sure. I think Frontier could possibly get away with doing a primate oriented DLC, out of any mammal family.

Essential Tier:
  1. Howler Monkey: Most popular new world monkey
  2. Geoffroy's Spider Monkey: also popular SA monkey, common in zoos, comes in many colors
  3. Squirrel Monkey: very basic zoo animal that is easy to make from capuchin
  4. Golden Lion Tamarin: If it's in an exhibit, I also expect other species of tamarin. Tamarins are very common in zoos
  5. Hamadryas Baboon: Cool Middle East Baboon
  6. Colobus Monkey: very popular African Monkey
  7. Langur: I have a slight preference for the Grey, but the javan has a cool golden morph. The main color of the Javan is black, so I would definitely take the grey langur if we get the lion tailed macaque
  8. Guenon: De Brazza's for me, but Diana/Roloway are also possible, Wolf's guenon is also very colorful, the related grivet is very common in zoos
  9. Golden Snub Nosed Monkey: very iconic and famous within China for conservation reasons, central Asian alpine monkey with striking golden coat and blue face
  10. Lar Gibbon: We need a normal gibbon, some other species would work
Close to Essential Tier
  1. Saki or Uakari: really nice for SA variety
  2. Emperor and Cotton Top Tamarins: also popular and would be great
  3. Barbary macaque: generic monkey with European Rep, and desert biome
  4. Marmosets: similar to tamarins and common in zoos
  5. Lion Tailed Macaque: conservation species for India, which really needs a monkey
  6. Nocturnal monkey: Aye Aye, tarsiers, galagoes, loris
  7. Second guenon
REALLY nice to have
  1. Red Shanked Douc: my favorite old world monkey, absolutely stunning,
  2. Pick the other one: saki or uakari
  3. Patas monkey: common in captivity, more of a ground monkey
  4. Gelada: popular mountain baboon-like
  5. Sifaka: popular lemur-like
  6. Mangabey: another major type of African monkey
  7. Second langur

I'll just say birds. For me, several components would be consistent that it is coming. The previous dlc, the season, the break again and the element of surprise that comes with it and I think it would give a lot of impetus for the whole year

otherwise i also see a rainforest package as the most likely in terms of ranking. Perhaps also in combination with the island idea and thus completing grassland and wetlands

For me is 100% the aviary pack. 25 new birds, habitat and aviary ones, with macaws, toucans, hornbills, owls, eagles, falcons, puffins, turacos, etc...
They are the last keystone for the game, at least for me. Imagine a stream like a continuation of Lumi's story, everything's alright but at the final of the tale a "Large blue-and-golden feather" falls from a tree, and nex day the "Feathers of the world expansion pack" is announced, including new aviaries with macaws, toucans, etc. and habitat birds like rheas, kiwis, ducks, swans and pelicans. That would be the best morning of my life for sure 😄
it's not unlikely that they'll take the Aviary DLC as a basis for the last one with the 5 butterflies and turn it into a deluxe pack. for me it's actually a sign that the previous 7 plus 1 grid will be broken, especially if you have a bird dlc in the pipeline.... obviously they also know how popular the idea is

Specifically for a treetops I go with the spider monkey. Though I want the howler more the big new feature could be the monkey crazy brachiation with its tail.
