Spring dlc Speculation 2023

I honestly don't think deluxe is that bad considering it's half the price of the other ones (in my currency at least). And it has komodo dragon which is best boy.
I mean yeah I got the deluxe for like 75 percent off on one of the steam sales so I can't actually argue about the value for money as the Komodo dragon alone is worth that but more of as a content pack against the rest it falls short

I really think that the only reason that the SEA Animal Pack is bad is the animal models an inclusion of the proboscis monkey. (I either the dhole was the winter coat variant, and i dont think I need to even mention the other animal...) If we got a langur or gibbon instead, and the models were as high quality as Frontier's are now, it would be an S tier pack for me. I think it gets more shade than it deserves, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Even though I personally am not a fan of the Twilight Pack and don't use any of the animal except the fruit bat, I think it also got more shade that it deserved. I will admit part of my dissapointment with the pack, was that it was an scenery pack and the long awaited animal pack I was hoping for.

I personally don't remember to much controversy over the Wetlands or Conservation Packs. I mean they both had some when they were announced about their rosters, which happens with every pack. I mean people dont like the caiman, buffalo, and lechwe, and the leopards face exsists but it was nowhere near Twilight or even Europe.

Realizing this post is incredibly off topic....

Uhhh, Frontier since you have admitted that publicly, multiple times that you read the forums, here are ten animals that you need to add in 2023 of I'll be sad:
1. Red River Hog
2. Fossa
3. Northern Plains Grey Langur (I saw these add ZSL London Zoo last spring, and they have invaded every aspect of my brain. I mean there tail alone is a meter, they are cute, and they are from South Asia I think. These reasons alone should be enough for them to be added.)
4. Pacific Walrus (why not? 😏)
5. Spectacled Bear
6. Golden/Sichaun Takin
7. Geoffrey's Spider Monkey
8. Linneaus's Two-Toed Sloth
9. African Crested/Cape Porcupine
10. Matschie's Tree Kangaroo
And 11. Blackbuck (an extra antelope wouldn't be that hard, right?)

Perfect lineup of animals for me. I would add there a chameleon or a cobra, but for me, is just perfection

Throw in the Tasmanian Devil, Wolverine, a second New World Monkey and a number of terrestrial oriented habitat birds and I’d be quite happy

I'd say that generally speaking, most of these "controversies" were pretty small and contained within the online community, especially these forums. Really the only one that received a decent amount of attention was the Binturong issue. And compared to plenty of other games, these "controversies" are pretty puny.
Yes.

Add 2 African monkeys and another south American and that's a great list

Well, let me continue my list then!
12. Hamandrayas Baboon
13. Golden Lion Tamarin
14. Little Blue Penguin
15. South American (Brown-Nosed) Coati
16. Colobus Monkey
17. Black Howler/Bolivian Gray Titi Monkey
18. Gray-Crowned Crane
19. Radiated Tortoise
20. Another Primate lol

One of my biggest hopes for 2023 is more primates. Hopefully, we'll get more than one this year...

I would think, meta list aside, the highest profile and priority mammal to get in this year is likely a sloth. We're past the point where there are animals that are practically required, but they're now almost at that level. I suspect we'll get a rainforest-tropical-something similar type of pack sometime this year that they'll be the headliner for, but I am thinking it'll likely be in the summer.

Still thinking islands, which the points being brought up for a farm/petting zoo type of pack that is pretty convincing as well.

What we need are

1. Habitat birds
2. More monkey
3. Various small "Filler" animals - Porcupine, sloth, Pallas cat, tree kangaroo, fossa etc.
4. Expanded ungulate diversity - Red River Hog, muskox, Takin, blackbuck etc.
5. Walrus

What my heart wants... well, it's ungulate diversity right? I just learned that a zoo had it in their masterplan to start a saiga breeding herd, but there's been no word on whether or not that still in the works.

Great list 🤩

About the controversy, I’ve said it a million times here but here we go again.
For me bad models is a real example of controversy:
  • Malayan tapir ugly made reskin that is still unfixed
  • Binturong bad model
  • Striped hyena bad model
  • Clouded leopard glitches and requirements
  • American buffalo wrong size
And so on…..

I feel quite offended listening again about the proboscis monkey all over again:
  • it’s a fantastic model,
  • wetlands swimming monkey,
  • one of the most unique primates
  • great SEA representation
  • very recognizable by wider audience
  • was highly requested but not on this forum
  • quite popular in zoos at it’s natural range - people keep complaing that this species is not existent in zoos in the western hemisphere but at the same time they highly request a Tassie which is kept in less zoos that proboscis monkeys all together
  • my personal favorite and reading all the disrespect against this species just got boring
  • this species is already in the game and they won’t gonna exchange it for anything else so if you don’t like it - just don’t use it! The simplest thing in the world.

IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT JUST DON’T USE IT!

Many of those arguments also counts for:
  • Wild water buffalo - in my opinion beautiful model and great addition and SEA representation - thanks 🙏🏽 God it’s not a domestic version
  • Spectacled caiman - I was not that happy to get it but it’s actually great when you start to get to know this species better - it’s the most used crocodilian by me
  • Nile lechwe - why not?! Endangered and beautiful species. Who are we to decide what is best for the game 🙄🤷🏽 I agree that Wetlands pack was kind of peculiar but in the end I am happy with it.
  • All the Twilight roster - the animals in this pack are just exquisite and really usable I was just a little bit shocked that it didn’t contained any more requested and at the same time recognizable species like porcupine or tassie but does it really have to? I am really happy, both with the roster and spooky castle theme. Highly themed pieces like benches or evil eyes are not for me but I love the spooky town vibe and the castle on the hill.
  • The Europe pack all over again - European species are boring for the wider audience and would never act the same purpose as lions and tigers and bears but take in to the account how well they were made, how many possiblities the theme gave and how many people finally felt recognized because their beloved species found It’s way into the game.

We can always discuss and say: I don’t like it because… but can we please don’t assume and stop using this condescending language like we were speaking for the whole community?

I was thinking about it again and i decided I would not want to change anything in the roster in the matter of exchanging anything for something else.

The only thing that I would do is add the new species to places that I think could be improved:

Deluxe - I understand that it gave the opportunity to play beta but it doesn’t mean anything for the players now. I think it should be constructed as the regular pack but with the soundtrack instad of the theme. So 1 additional habitat animal plus one exhibit would enchance this pack amazingly.

Arctic - there are many species that could inhabit the exibit so I see it as neglection and I don’t understand that it was omitted.

Year 1 Anniversary animal - that fun day at the social media was an huge disappointment 🙈 Anything would be great, even a simple reskin but I believe it was caused by Covid situation.

4th pack of 2020 - I know it’s quite controversial because we have absolutely no proof that it was even planned or not but I believe that in perfect world free of Covid and it’s disturbances we could count on the 4th pack in Autumn 2020. What could it be… it’s hard because many animals were introduced in the later packs an that ruined the idea of any continental idea but maybe those could work (4 habitat animals plus scenery):
  • Central American pack with Sloth
  • Ground birds pack with Secretary bird + theme
  • Monkey pack with baboon

I agree with these!
1. As long as we get the Gray or Black Crowned Crane, another Flamingo, and Secretary Bird at least, I'd be content
2. I can go all day with this one. I think Marmosets (or any other tiny primates like Aye-Aye) would be cool in the walk-through exhibits
3. Yes Please
4. I would expand on your idea with small antelopes and deer like the Kirk's Dik Dik and Pudu
5. I wouldn't be completely surprised if we got one more pinniped, the walrus would be the best bet.

We actuslly have some "proof", in that we know from the leaked rosdmap that the plan was 4 packs every year.

Also, my theory is that it would've been the Africa pack, as year 1 was the year where they filled all the very blatantly deliberste missing spots in the roster, and by the end of it only the african rhino and meerkat were missing.

But that leads to the question of whar would've been the pack of summer 2021 in that case?

I'd say a baboon fits here, but I generally agree with this post-wallaby/emu
I honestly felt that way after the conservation pack, but the Emu/Wallaby were what I'd consider very highly wanted and logical choices, but absolutely required? I feel the Amur Leopard and P. Horse were the last two mammals to hit that spot. Moot point over the Emu/Wallaby anyways since they're in the game (which I'm glad for).

Sloth, Porcupine, Walrus - recognizable to casual players and good representatives for their respective general biomes - Hot/Wet, Dry/Hot, Cold/Wet. These three, along with the Tasmanian Devil, are the perfect four pack-leading mammals. Baboons, Wolverine, Red River Hog and Fossa probably next tier.
