Backers: "Tyler, had you had a chance to taste that beer?"The actual glass
A news about a something unbalanced in the PTU that is already corrected in the PTU... Great journalism. A full article just for the pleasure to trash SC.

Filled with Kwak beer.
The glass as proposed by others space games :
Also - Summit playing SC.
Bwahahaha.
Carry on.
One of the bigger twitch streamers, was in the top 10 for number of subs, just checked currently has 30k subscribers. Doesn't really matter what he plays, gets huge audience for some reason, I know he plays a lot of GTA and used to play Tarkov a lot.No idea who the guy is. What is he known for?
It's the PTU, not PU. The role of the PTU is to test and detect what must be changed before sending the patch to PU.As for the article, it is great journalism. There was something that caused controversy, upset, and laughter among a gaming community with a game that is advertised/marketed as being playable. That's the sort of thing such sites tend to report on. Or they should limit themselves to only reporting positive things?
It's only a joke like the other ones.Ah, we doing whataboutism again?
Falling victim to stream snipers? No idea who the guy is. What is he known for?
The other jokes? Yeah, they're not so bad. You should try telling those, too - always telling the same one isn't so hot....
It's only a joke like the other ones.
Uh ohDo you agree that to deliver the game as promised, they need a lot of money, and selling ship works well to fund the project ?
The NME article was published more than 24 hours before the latest PTU patch (with medical fix) arrived. Funny news was funny newsA news about a something unbalanced in the PTU that is already corrected in the PTU... Great journalism. A full article just for the pleasure to trash SC.

The unified rig is not the only unusual thing in the shooter. Another pretty big difference is how we spawn the bullets. In a typical shooter they come from the center of the camera and they go to the center of the screen. Which means you are actually shooting with your eyes and the gun in your hands has no practical purpose. But in Star Citizen we spawn the bullets directly from the gun barrel...
SA said:HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. They coded the bullet to trace from the optics. And with detachable optics the start point of that trace can fudge up causing this mess.
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA..
Sorry I can't stop laughing.
Thank you for this.
We’re very proud of what we’ve done, it’s taken a lot of work. Most people don’t try as hard, if we were doing just Squadron 42 we’d probably wouldn't have done it because that’s a single player game, but because Star Citizen is such a multiplayer game, it’s super important
Unified Ramble Incoming...
(Apologies if telling grandma how to suck eggs at any point )
I know Chris has made claims for slicker animations being a side-effect of the unified body model, but I believe he was talking about that fact that all of the 3rd person animations would be seen from a 1st person perspective, instead of using a more basic rig for first person, IE:

Bonus fun one
Bonus fun EDO one

Of course we've since seen all the downsides of that approach. The endless wrangling with headbob. The difficulties getting animations to work satisfactorily when grabbing items, seating, displaying cosmetics etc (all revisited at length with the female avatars, because everything designed to date had been for the male version). All because Chris insists they have to physically tally with the surrounding environment as exactingly as possible. (Whereas the standard system could give that impression a lot more easily via fudges.). And yet for all of his insistence that a hand can reach out and grab a T-shirt off the rack seamlessly and accurately from both perspectives, you still end up with stuff like this

Because duh, 1:1 physical correlation between mocapped animations and the game world is a daftly exacting objective. It really does feel like Chris has sometimes pursued a 'make it real' agenda which is not hugely practical
And then devs essentially end up faking stuff anyway (like the first person shiver when cold), because of the insane amount of work involved no doubt...

Faking first person kinda happens for sensible reasons

They can't even get the shooting right. But make long video wafflers on how bullets will persistently physicalised. They are totally clueless. And that's why they have to contract stuff so it gets done. And then it looks like donkey because noone knows how to run a devteam and production management. But making videos about bogus progress and fantasy features is what they can do very well.Track & Trace...
Hey, remember how CIG's unified model of fidelity meant they spawned the chambered bullet directly from the gun barrel...

Yeah about that...

Yet another aspect of the unified rig / fidelity fetish getting mothballed as reality impinges...
Squatting on Number 42
I'm often baffled by how they're struggling quite so badly with SQ42. But actually this does add another hint as to why...
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7GG0y8Jmcs&t=1425s
They're working with this same daft unified rig. Which has a ton of drawbacks for dev when it comes to introducing new animations and making them fit from a first person perspective while also interacting with the game world around them...
I'm sure they're essentially fudging it wherever possible, as they are now in the PU. But they're still essentially stuck with that base tech, and will be fighting it every step of the way...
And how exactly is he meant to be able to get an artist to change a pixel from blue to green if he is not able to lean over them and point directly at it?For me its just another example of CIG doing things backwards. While most companies are accepting WFH is the future, at least for the forseeable future, as well as seeing the benefits of it (less office space costs, people pay for their own electricity, hardware, no commute so people are happier and fresher for work) CIG are focused on getting people into the office. Same as their development process which was assets first, functionality second.
Like the Honneymoon phase, Ship Interiors will get boring fast.
Also, Flight model something something.
With fully fidelized tracer bullet through the server mess? And how exactly is he meant to be able to get an artist to change a pixel from blue to green if he is not able to lean over them and point directly at it?
2 minutes ago:now that summit has played SC for the past couple days, gonna blow up those twitch numbers.
