The Bubble-Engineers must not be worse than the Colonia-Engineers. Equal but not worse.

So you want to lock me out of engneers because I will never be triple elite, I just can't stand all that kill, kill, kill thousands of times to get elite combat, it's just boring and brainless. Not fair they should make everyone unlockable by exploration data.
We all know there Explorers who don't like Trades or Combat or Combat players who don't want to do Trade or Explore as well as Traders who don't like to fight or Explores. So the Op in that same spot. He should not get an easy mode because he does not like Exploration.

Honestly it makes sense to stick the engineers with mods which benefit a particular playstyle in each of the places where players who engage in that kind of play will have a more fun time getting to them, and with unlock requirements suited to the kind of playstyle of people more likely to visit that engineer. Locking the max available lightweight life support behind a high combat rank just meant I stuck with a lower grade I could get access to through mining. I'm happy however to see an engineer in Colonia get it, where as an explorer looking to unlock an exploration-focused mod, I have to fly halfway across the galaxy to pick it up, because that fits my playstyle just fine. I still have to put in the effort to get there, same as the combat focused player in the bubble does to unlock the engineer with it there, but it pays off in a manner suited to how I play the game, just the same as it does for them.

Now this I take personal. I love exploration. I am Elite at it. And my main ship is an Anaconda suited for Exploration. What I don't like is having to go to Colonia and back just for PvP.
I bet ppl like you even defended the old engineering-system.

Having engineers, unique individuals with particular talents, be easily available to all is not the point. There are good universe-building reasons why they should be different, and not necessarily accessible. There are also gameplay reasons why engineering shouldn't be so trivial.

Colonia is where you have to go if you want to max out your Lightweight-Life-Support

This is a good example of a gameplay justification for disparate engineer ability and availability -- lightweight life support is principally beneficial to explorers, in helping cut weight and add jump range. If you're so serious about exploration that you're trying to shave off those last tons, the trip to Colonia is probably not a big deal, and if you haven't done it yet, I don't mind the game pushing you to.

And what about the shieldcells -.-? Trivial ... it was never trivial.
