The codex screenshot for the The Dark Wheel - Which system is it?

I doubt that. It's almost the best reference point. Either it's by a body really close to its star or its a giant or super giant. Best example I've found so far is tejat posterior (mu geminorum) in the gemini constellation. You can make the planet to star ratio almost perfect. If the picture is legit, then it seriously limits the places it can be. The problem is it may just be a stock image completely unrelated and we'll never get confirmation either way

I think we need to put serious thought into whether Polaris fits with any of the tips and hints we’ve received through the codex and other sources.

Polaris was the prevailing theory prior to 3.3 whereafter everyone began trying to pick apart the astrophel hints.

There has to be something at Polaris. What about Titan? The moon? What hppened to Deimos? The Martian artifact? Is the answer already staring us in the face?
Viewed polaris with cartographic, what was interesting is it had all red fleet carrier symbols so maybe that has been a recent thing, they made sure fleet carriers couldn't dock, so that says its been recently looked at by fdev maybe? Polaris is one of the brightest stars on the map which is amazing

Are we sure about corona scaling? Here's a youtube video about visiting VY Canis Majoris, the biggest Red Supergiant. It looks like you can still see corona features 10k ls out.

I posted to the Raxxla thread assuming the star was a Red Giant or Red super giant.
I flew towards a Red Dwarf, Red Giant and Red Super Giant to try to replicate the picture.

The Red Super Giant stars I checked had textures visible >1000ly but were still a little small on the screen (I know the giants vary in size).
The Red Giant and Red Dwarf stars I flew toward only had visible textures at about 20 ls and they weren't anywhere close to the codex screenshot size until about 10-15 ls.
I personally don't think I've seen a gas giant so close to an M, but apparently it is possible.

Stellar Class M is the coldest (and reddest) of the main-sequence stars. It is broken down into M0 (yellowest) to M9 (reddest, around 2000k temperature). I flew to some M9s and the color seems pretty close to the screenshot. M8 seemed too orange still.

I'm not sure how Tauri stars work.

You can see what classes of stars will be in a system without visiting it; on the galaxy map just look at the info tab with a system selected.

I did a search of EDSM for Red Giants or Red Super Giants with gas giants having at least 8 moons. There were 41 results in the galaxy.
Only one was a Super giant, and none were class M9. I checked the 10 closest, mapped & flew around the 8th moons and didn't find anything.
There is only one M9 super giant within ~5000 ly of sol; HD 25725. I flew out to check but it doesn't have any gas giants.
How do we know its a red super? Is this a in game description?

The Codex says you searching for them is pointless and that they come to you in a disguise to offer you a test of skill.. We wont be able to find them by searching... Some of us think it is the Polaris system which is locked behind a unknown permit.. I suggest accepting and completing all missions offered by people contacting you and checking out all tipoffs, of course after grinding the known Dark Wheel faction repto full... There have been players at this for years lol and nothing yet... A group of us have even read through the novels and everything
I had a look at the polaris cartographic but no stations, the image also doesnt show a planet with no rings as first next to the sun, it has allot of ring planets and two non ringed planets far away from the sun, around 25000ly

Hey all, zombie here so i just visited hell port that has a t tauri star, and its pretty close, it also has a high metal content planet which is in the photo and hell port is extremely close to the planet, i dont think the planet in the codex is a moon, logically a high metal content would be able to exist and survive such close proximity to the sun with its low temp output, i messed around with the filter and this is the result, my thought us the codex image is definitely edited and the sun is either reverse coloured to this t tauri via editing or there is a star type out there similar but with the reverse red to yellow colour, i will keep search but i think seem hell port can't exist here so close, the darkwheel might exist under similar environments, if only hell port wasn't a asteroid base!

I haven't seen anyone mention TDW logo. Their emblem is a dragon with 3 notable circles of descending size. I'm currently looking in Draco constellation, blindly - but maybe that's a way to focus the search?

I haven't found any other explanation as to why it is a dragon.
Disregard it complete, it fan art embraced by the creators, its the Ouroboros, meaning infinite, also know as the orphicus constellation ")

Oh is that where it came from....deletes all Excel sheets based on Pi :)

Darn evidence getting in the way of my conspiracy theories again!

Nice:) well..back to hunting stars lol

Don't feel bad guys for all we knew the famous crop circle could've had some mathematical significance like the golden ratio or w/e else and had been a key part of the Raxxla equation if it hadn't turned out to be player made.

Do you think some crop circles are alien? A bit off topic lol but there's surely life out there, thanks again mick :) just came back from seagull nebula, off to see a green giant near the bubble, maybe find some more good musgravite doubles towards the abyss, any ideas where to go looking next?

Haha im sorry:) i think on another note t tauri stars and red super giants are whats in the darkwheel photo , i have surveyed all the orange types and taken photos and these are my closest match, i also have found some wolf raynets not listed on eddb, they are so hard to find on the galmap!

I think all the man made hoax stuff is inspired by Asgardians.

But I've read a few whitley strieber 'nonfictions' that I thought were pretty good. He's also a good fiction writer I guess

Guess i have to do some reading lol do you think maybe the naval rift is this blank region? Remember the story about the guy who fixed up the ladies ship and she and her family didnt make it across?

Hi, new here and currently reading through all these posts.

Is there still an ongoing search? If so, what are the search parameters? How far away from Sol are people searching?

s there still an ongoing search?
Hello :)

Always ongoing just Cmdrs drop in an out as they do.

If so, what are the search parameters?

Few people on this thread have maybe ID or shortened the star type but cant remember which ones are in or out tbh, I just look everywhere. Asteroid belts and Rings are always a possibility too.

How far away from Sol are people searching?

Lore says shouldn't be too far from Sol due to early foundations and hyperspace functionality at that time but people look everywhere as we dont actually know how reliable that info is or whether its relevant.

Just follow your heart and have fun :)
