General / Off-Topic The Covid vaccine must be mandatory ?

While true I would imagine that the counter to that is that there's no particular reason why any specific virus should be in its ideal state. As you say they don't think or plan, so in theory there's no reason why a virus couldn't exist that would wipe out its host and itself in the process. It's not ideal for the virus, but it doesn't care. In the same way a fire doesn't stop and think "hmm, maybe I shouldn't burn the entire house down to the ground as swiftly as possible, because then I'll run out of fuel and then die".
Yep, this is the thing, there is no intent or direction behind evolution, just which random mutation happens to be convenient right here and now.
Unfortunately, humans evolved over-sensitive pattern seeking mechanisms because that stopped us being eaten more often than it hindered us, and so as a result we tend to anthropomorphise stuff that doesn't actually behave according to the kinds of intent we project onto it.

My kid (13) was tested twice with a lateral flow test and both came back positive so we're waiting to get him a PCR test soon.

He doesn't live with me but I last saw him on Sunday and he tested positive on Tuesday. I and the other two people in my house have all tested negative so far with lateral flow tests.

It's a waiting game now.

Most Predictable News ever:
Brazil’s health minister tested positive for the coronavirus Tuesday, just hours after attending the United Nations General Assembly.

Marcelo Queiroga is the second member of President Jair Bolsonaro’s delegation to the United Nations to test positive.

Spreading it to the entire world leader assembly, folks, that's Bolsonaro's Minister of Health.

@LeoBartlet
Can't like that post, man, but acknowledged. Hope it works out OK.

Today:

We are surrounded by morons.
Contrarywise - I think it’s pretty calculated.

Update: He came back positive for Covid. His mother whom he lives with came back negative.

So yea frack.

President Joe Biden announced Wednesday that the United States is doubling its purchase of Pfizer’s COVID-19 shots to share with the world to 1 billion doses as he embraces the goal of vaccinating 70% of the global population within the next year.

:)
After the FDA decided vs boosters for everyone, the USA found itself sitting on a huge surplus order. This is logical to do.

Well, we have local community spread of Delta now confirmed by the Health Minister:
HEALTH Minister Terrence Deyalsingh has confirmed local community spread of the highly transmissible delta variant in Trinidad and Tobago.
.... but still only 1/3 population coverage with available vaccines.

AND they want to open churches, bars and restaurants next week, while pushing the curfew back an hour to 10 pm.

It seems to be a plan to raise the national IQ above Nikki Minaj levels so that we may compete better. I don't think I want to participate in health care during this plan...

Edit- the method of detection is worth mentioning. Because Delta cases generate many times more virus, the PCR goes positive with less cycles. <19 cycles is suspicious for Delta. A little fact that will become useless in future, as we get out of the Pandemic.

There are STILL locals posting things like "if there really was a pandemic, well everybody would be rushing down to get vaccines, so if they are encouraging you, that proves it's all a hoax!"

These people are going to die of Minaj Syndrome.

Lol, what?! For whataboutery, don't I have to be saying "what about..." and then trying to move the focus onto something else? Whereas I just said that the thing you're complaining about is already illegal and no-one (that I'm aware of) is crying out in support of it. "What about the thing itself" doesn't really qualify surely.

Meanwhile your original point, although I couldn't technically call it whataboutery, was definitely using one thing to focus on something else. There's a bit of a disconnect, both in terms of logic an proportionality, between the two statements in "a man shot another man for being told to wear a mask, therefore nobody should have the right to decide if they want a vaccine."

Here we go again.

He urged people to stop participating in the protests and rallies his group was organizing, including those taking part outside of Hawaii's Lieutenant Governor Josh Green's house, Hawaii News Now reported.

"Before I thought Josh Green was exaggerating the situation and after my experience, he sounds very rational to me," he said, per Hawaii News Now.

Josh Green is a medical doctor.
But no, they have to nearly stifle to death personally, before they can learn.

The joined-at-the-hip connection between racism, self-unaware stupidity and antivax sentiment continues to display itself, as they voluntarily choose to name themselves after the losing side - allegorical fascists out to wipe out the mudbloods, which completely escapes them.

US positivity rates are declining, along with case counts. It might be premature to hope that the wave has crested, and less will die, but despite that, I'm going to do so anyhow as we chug along into our own brand new Delta wave imported from a country awash with vaccines that non-sheep geniuses scorn in favor of horse paste.

We might yet die of their stupid. But mostly it'll be our own Minaj Squad. Or the Minajarie. Or whatever. Cos we got them here too.
