The Galactic Mapping Project & Historical Archive of Exploration

Galactic Meridians:

  • Pernicious (furthest reached directly east of Sol)
I think you've got the wrong system for this. It currently points to Plae Eur DW-E d11-0 which is at co-ords 29961.40625 / -9.15625 / -50.4375. I think it should be Plae Eur IC-D d12-0 at 30017.21875 / -21.0625 / -11.78125. This system is both further east and closer to the axis.

Thanks - will correct that.

If you don´t mind the change, I think we should rename this remarkable system to Baton´s Orchard and come up with something else for your previous submission...

I did PM Heavy Johnson exact same request this morning. Yes that would be great :)

Wonderful - we think alike :)

Ill start looking for brain trees out in the Viatori Patuit region. Will be interesting to see if they can also be found so far from the Guardian region of space...

Splash crater? Is that just a big impact crater, or something else?

My understanding is it's craters that appear to have lines coming from them, like this: http://i.imgur.com/hICyVWv.png

That being said. I'm 0 for 3 on finding anything when the criteria is meet. Assuming I'm looking in the right crater (and it's supposed to be IN the crater). I've checked 3 bodies now between 200 and 490K, with volcanism, and in what I believe to be splash craters and found nothing.

Does it have to be a certain kind of volcanism? All 3 I've checked have been Silicate Vapour Geysers.

Conditions so far are:
If landable and volcanic and temperature between 200K and 490K and splash crater then fungal trees

Splash craters have visible lines coming out of it:

rocky body - look at the bottom part of the crater in the middle:
8zxDjaV.png

or here, big one has very visible splash, but small one has some lines as well, going 135 degrees out of it if you look carefully
09ivtdO.png

ice body much less visible lines, sometimes only inside the crater visible in glide/normal flight, but it has different colour:
ewpk9sz.png

splash better visible on dark side when looking on the system map:
sVP2QEh.png

Or you can compare shape, splash craters have flat bottom, normal ones have bowl shape. I find nothing in bowls :)

Desc: Thanks to F class star this system has lots of volcanic bodies with just right temperature to support life. Fungal trees have been discovered on 8 of it's bodies. On each of them only one location was search for to confirm the existence, but no doubt there are many undiscovered sites waiting to be found.

Not Added:

* 31 Pegasi - we currently have a lot of items near the bubble, and this system seems to only be unique by history. I might be persuaded to add this in later, just playing cautious for the moment.

No problem -- I suspected it might be too close, but I figured there was no harm in doing a quick write-up.

Hi GMP,

I'd like to add the Minerva Centaurus Expedition, to the Expedition Hub. We've reached 20 sign ups now (19+me).
The expedition will start in November 3303, and end in March 3304. The goal is Exploration. I'm the expedition organiser, and the Discord will be the CCN one.
Here is the Expeditions forum link: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/372565-Minerva-Centaurus-Expedition

Many thanks:
Yanick

Added

Good luck with the expedition - send postcards and POIs for the GMP! :)

I found a little mistake

The information on the Formidine Rift Abandoned Settlements
contains a wrong system name for the second entry. The system name should be EAFOTS GL-Y E2 instead of EAFOTS GL-YE2.

I hope I could help.

POI Name: Michell's Legacy Depot
POI Type: Jumponium-Rich System
Galmap Ref: Boewnst XM-C c81

Desc: This is another "gold" system, named due to its closeness (27.81Ly) to Michell's Legacy, the system that contains 6 black holes (Boewnst AA-A h33). It has a scoopable K type star with 15 landable bodies. It contains all mats. Rundown of jumponium mats:

Vanadium (8 total): 1, 2, 5 A, 5 C, 6 B, 9 A, 9 C, and 11 C.
Germanium (7 total): 5 B, 5 C, 6 A, 8 A, 9 A, and 11 B.

Thanks Erimus! We will do :)

PS
Our Discord is the CCN one, Fleetcomm is our PG :)

Traikaae KT-P d6-10 (Cinnabar Moth Nebula) has a typo in it's description:

Bold word should be "resembling"

Fixed. Cheers all [up]

CMDR Ron Jeremy Jr recommended POI/tourist beacon locations:

1.
"Chief's Pride" @ WEPOOE AA-A H509

A system containing SEVEN Black Holes, ONE Neutron Star, a Gas Giant with record breaking sized rings plus more, 39 bodies in total. The majority of the bodies including SIX Brown Dwarves with landable moons are in orbit around four of the Black Holes. The Neutron Star has a significant light bending effect that is clearly visable on approach, similar to the lensing effect of a black hole. I would expect interest from tourists and scientists alike. This could even be a canditate for a remote station/megaship near SAGITTARIUS A.....

2.

"Elmo's Highway" @ BOESKY AA-A G89

A system containing ONE Black Hole together with FIVE Neutron Stars, it is a scenic but very hazzardous system to visit due to the risk of damage from multiple Neutron Star tails. I would expect interest from tourists and scientists alike.

3.

"Sleepy Halo" @ CLOOKAO AA-A H76

A system containing THREE Black Holes, ONE Neutron Star, ONE Red Dwarf, TWO Class III Gas Giants and a landable Rocky Body. The White Dwarf has record breaking sized rings around it, which in itself is a sight for sore eyes! I would expect interest from tourists and scientists alike.

4.

"Owl and Wolf" @ STUELE AA-A H77

A system containing a Wolf-Rayet O Star together with a Herbig Ae/Be Star. This system will leave visitors awe-struck when viewing this pair of rare stars in the one system together. This would make a fascinating tourist destination.

5.

"Chief's Treasure" @ THAILIO JQ-Q C7-8

A system with an Earth-Like World, Terraformable Water World, Ammonia World, Teraformable High Metal Content Worlds and landable worlds. This system has returned my highest credits including finders fee bonus to date, it will make a great explorers destination!

FOOTNOTE: I discovered all the above systems recently, tourist beacons to share these discoveries would make a great addition to release 2.4 if possible, thanks Fdev's! o7

This is my first contribution to this forum. I hope this provides sufficient information please refer to EDSM for the finer details on my finds, thanks. I dont have a media server for sceenshots to link here sorry, happy to send them on if necessary but I am not sure how to do it.
