The Galactic Mapping Project & Historical Archive of Exploration

Is there a specific reason why only this one system has the description and not all 4 of them? Imho it would make sense to put the description on all of them.

I'm not part of the GMP team, but likely it's to not clutter the map unnecessarily, and for general convenience. In this case (and in some others this has been done too), closely related and close-by POIs are integrated into one. For example, V945 Scorpii's POI description mentions various nearby related systems that can be of interest to the visitor, instead of having an individual GMP enrty for each of them. Some others, like Shapley 1, include in their descriptions nearby expedition waypoints or similar things. Bleae Aescs ZE-A g4 (Dragon's Head Nebula) has in its description a handful of other related POIs, as in this case the nebula encompasses many systems and this specific one has been selected to stand in for the whole nebula which the description is about. So this kind of thing is common enough.

EOS CHREA XX-U D2-10094

I have just discovered this system, and two water worlds revolve around a neutron star (one is terraformable), plus a terraformable hmc.
I think it might be interesting to put a tourism beacon next to the ww terraformable. I have never seen it before.
Distance from sol : 27161.38 ly

Hello CMDR
a new POI with Geyser...
...FOIJAO EI-Q D6-8 A 1B...

surface coordinates: 5,2529Gr.

Iwould like to name this POI...smoking canyon...

I'm visiting this system:

which says:
Travelers are encouraged to submit photos of this location

Sooo... here ya go:

That's of the space station within the system. Let me know if that's not what you're looking for.

Thanks for maintaining this!

New Submission! SUBMIT!!

I'm new, so I don't even know if I'm doing this right, but here's a contribution I had to sign up to make, it's a really crazy place!

Name: Gleshpoint
Game map search ref: DRYOEA FLYUAE AA-A G392
Description: This system has a lot to look at. A black hole in binary with a neutron star, in binary with another pair of binary neutron stars with a class III gas giant orbiting the barycenter. Orbiting the barycenter of the two neutrons in binary with the black hole/neutron pair is a pink gas giant, Pepto-Jupiter. *breath* AND all of this is in binary with another neutron. Great stuff!

Name: Mordor
Game Map Search Ref: EORD FLYUE AA-A H189
Description: Black hole (Named "Melkor") orbited by a White Dwarf (Named "Mim") and a ringed Neutron Star (Named "Sauron's Eye") that has a red gas giant in orbit (Named "Witch-King"). A very dark and dangerous system with the non-sequence-star-trinity, Mordor is not a place for the faint of heart. Heading down to Sauron's Eye, one can take in the breathtaking width of the star's rings and wonder at the colossal cataclysm that happened to make them. Dip in to the ring, park up next to an asteroid and gaze out at the tails of the Sauron's Eye whipping round. Marvel in the terror of this inhuman place. Afterwhich, get out in one piece and head to Jaques to share a drink and some great photos.

Just something I stumbled on today and it does not seem to be on any map yet:

Name: Brairuia Nebula

Game Map Search Ref: Brairuia JH-U e3-4963

Description: A bright blue nebula centred around a calm and impressive neutron star. The system itself is filled with large gas giants, a ringed type Y dwarf star, three main sequence starts and a whole bunch of land-able planets. Many of the planets also have volcanic activity. The serene blue colour of the nebula makes it a great place for some amazing photographs. There seem to be other POI markers on some of the planets too, 32,000LY from Sol. (sadly I could not explore these ones myself)

Brothers in the Dark

Minor Poi Submission

Name: Brothers in the Dark
Coordinates: Slaiyooe RV-P c5-0 / Planets A4 & A5
Description:
Far away on the opposite side of the Galaxy, two Brothers can be found, circling their parrent star in the dark. The Chance of finding even a single World similar to Earth are slim, but two in close orbit, this far out?
As a Famous Captain once said: Sometimes you need to roll a hard 6. This far out, those twins would present a perfect location for a Human colony, either as an outpost, or safe harbor far away from any danger, altough some cold weather gear might be required, as the average Temperature sits on chilly -13°C.
With their lower Grativy of 0.7g, they also lessen the chore of getting on and off the planet, further supporting easy operation.
Maybe one day, a daring entrepreneur will set off to start a colony here.

Ps: Eventough im a PnP GM im bad at creating planetary fluff blurb, hope my brabble suffices. Also for the Names, i had a difficult time finding something unique. An Alternative could be: Twins in the Dark or Explorers Harbor, but this is more probably if one day someone builds a Station here ;-)
pps: since i am still on my trip and wont be home for at least another 6 months if not more, it might very well be that those of you who can dedicate more than a few hours per week to elite, will be able to fly there, snatch them and get back to a station to sell the data before i will be able to, so ok if you are that kind of person i wont be able to stop you anyway. But to all others, o7
Cheers and fly save 07

New planetary Nebula

I found a planetary nebula that I'm not seeing on the map. Maybe someone's mentioned it already, but I thought I would post it, just to be sure:

Name: Grace Hopper Nebula
Coordinates: CSI-44-17417

Description:
At the heart of this small blue nebula burns a Wolf-Rayet N star, surrounded by four gas giants. A white dwarf, K and G orbit each other 300 lightseconds out. This small nebula was named after famed computer scientist that helped spur the Information Age, allowing space exploration to be possible.

POI Update:
GalMap Ref: Eodgols ZQ-U c16-49 2 (Rock Hazard)

This might be an interesting POI:

Location: Eodgols ZQ-U c16-49

The second planet, a blue Class III Gas Giant has a three rings of which the third outer radius ranges over 7 million KM. But this is not the interesting part about the beautiful rings. The speed at which the rings move is just astonishing; a ship in full boost can't even keep up and even at lower Supercruise the rocks will overtake your ship. It gives a really weird feeling, looks trippy and really dangerous.

Now I have encountered slightly moving rings before.. but these are out to kill you.

Sadly not only do these rings not move fast anymore, but the third ring is also completely gone. The game still mentions it in the system map, but it's simply not there.

POI: Polonium Fields
System: Floalt GO-G d11-9
Body: 4-E
Description:
Inside the Amaethon Nebula nebula lies Polonium Fields, a small moon in an otherwise unassuming system. At 2.1% Polonium, this moon contains the highest known concentration of Polonium in the galaxy. At just over 500km, this small moon has only 0.03 gravity, making it a challenge to navigate the long, wide canyons that cross the moon. However, the open planes allow the experienced explorers to quickly fill their stock of Polonium.
