The Galactic Mapping Project & Historical Archive of Exploration

(Posting from mobile so I apologize for any formatting mistakes)

I can’t believe that the Mors et Vitae POI was archived. I know the GMP is interested in ELWs orbiting black holes but something we forgot to account for was ELWs orbiting 2 or more black holes (which Mors et Vitae does). I wonder what the actual count of “black Earths” are when taking this into account.

Hm, you make a good point. I have not seen another ELW orbiting two black holes. I will review this.

Let me introduce you to a system that I discovered over a year ago.
It's probably the dumbest system I've ever found.
The reason why I've been dragging so long to submit it to you is that, at first, I wanted to find the geysers on the surface of planet AB1 and, secondly, since update 3.3 I've been lazy :D

Name:Pendulum
Game map search ref:Dryau Ausms YE-A f121
Description:A black hole, a neutron star and landable planets, all in a ~8-14ls zone.
The view from the geysers of the ringed planet (AB1) is sublime. If you wait a bit you can see an eclipse of the neutron star followed closely by the black hole that deforms the star background.

/!\ Entering the system can be a little hectic, cut the throttle. Also be careful when landing on AB1, the gravity is 3.57G

Another dumb system I discovered a while ago.
Like I said, I've been lazy :p

Name:Khazad Dum bridge
Game map search ref:XEEHIA TL-K D9-14 A 1
Description:A planet so close to its white dwarf that its orbit passes into the star's forbidden zone.
But don't worry, you can escape at anytime by jumping to another system. On the other hand, landing on the planet is quite a challenge.

At the end of all things, would you go forward ?

By the way, I'm not fluent in english, feel free to change any text I wrote, even the names, it won't bother me

Kind of,

But for me landing on the world of death can be even more fun.
On both systems you can land relatively quietly when the planet is outside the star's zone of influence.
The difference between these two systems will be that, in the case of this one the planet passes into the star's forbidden zone, while in the case of the world of death the planet passes into the ejection cone.

Landing on the world of death while the planet is in the ejection cone is surely one of the funniest and most interesting gameplay of the game.

for the record,
I remember landing on the world of death by falling with my anaconda at 650 m/s when its maximum speed in normal flight is only 250m/s. The stress was intense, but it was a lot of fun.

Name: Quiet Flame Nebula
Type: Nebula
Galmap ref: Ploadaea KA-S c6-0 [nebula: Ploadaea AA-A H1]

Desc: This is a medium sized nebula of roughly 40 Ly size in all dimensions. Overall dark, with colors of burnt red and muted yellow, it offers little for the sightseer. Only a single star system is found inside the nebula.

Name:Celestial Lasso (I really wish I was better with names)
Game map search ref:Lasoae IX-L d7-6638
Description:This doubly ringed Earth-like world at the base of the 3kpc Arm is the parent of six moons which is one of a kind! This world may have hosted more moons at one time, but had ripped them apart and formed the rings that we see today.

Name:Skull Nebula
Game map search ref:Skull Sector GW-W d1-1
Description:The Skull Nebula is a small planetary nebula without a host star approximately 1600 LY below the Galactic Plane. It can be found by heading from the Bubble for the Blanco 1 star cluster and then continuing on in the same direction. The star density is sparse and a jump range of just over 70LY is required to get close without using FSD boosting. From some systems the nebula has a purplish hue but others show it to be blue. The closest star system is Skull Sector GW-W d1-1 which is approximately 40 LY away.

I was surprised not to see this real-life nebula in EDSM, especially since it's close to the Bubble, albeit in an unusual direction.

This may not have been submitted, or rejected, because it is "inside" the bubble if you look vertically at it. We usually don't take inside-bubble items. However, this nebula is more than 1500 ly down from Sol, which makes it quite reasonable to add into the GMP. Thanks for submitting it!
