I wasn't expecting the Galactic Mapping on EDSM to go live until June, so I was a little surpised to see this annotated and interactive map of the galaxy. What a beauty!

I really like 'Flying Flea nebula'. That is a much better name than it's official letter and number sequence :).

I want to express my sincere gratitude to all that have put effort in making EDSM what is today: Thank you!

There needs to be something unique (like a statistical record breaker), or something visually interesting for minor POI's to be added now - otherwise the maps will be saturated with labels. These blackhole systems are just like the millions of others in the game. Look for a black hole system that has an ELW (for example), and it'll be a better candidate - especially when we can eventually land on such worlds and experience the gravitational effects a nearby BH has on it. :cool:

The description of the POI (also listed under https://www.edsm.net/system/id/2719045/name/JOORAI+LX-L+D7-223+A) names JOORAI NI-K D8-8 A as the "first" Neutron star in the cluster, while that system has a class G as main and no neutron stars. Joorai NI-K D8-86 A however is a Neutron star, probably the missing one in the list.

Potential POI:

Type - Beacon system
Name - The Blue In The Black
GalMap - FOOTIE AA-A G0
Note- with three binary pairs, O, B and AeBe this, by some margin, is the brightest system I've found in my sojourn in the Abyssal Plain beyond the current limits of the delineated sectors. It's not really obvious on the galmap, but if you come out this way it is really obvious in the skybox.

Hey all, I found a visually interesting POI while in the Formidine Rift so I'm submitting it here and hope you find it interesting as well. Full disclosure, I named the POI in part after my ship, the Sapphire which has taken me to Beagle Point and back and now through the Formidine Rift. But it seemed an appropriate name due to the colour and the look of the rings at the equator as well. :)

Name: Sapphire Veil
Game map search ref: Scheau Phoe NB-M c24-7 (11 A)
Description: An icy white and blue moon orbiting its parent gas giant so closely that it is touching the gas giant's rings. The polar regions offer a stunning view of the gas giant and its rings stretched out before you as if they were an extension of the planet surface. Near the equator the rings appear to hang over the planet like a veil and if you get close enough you can watch the ice chunks whizz by. Because the moon has some axial tilt, the rings will move north and south over the surface. Passing through the rings while on the planet surface appears to be completely safe and provides a very unique view of the ring's dusty fog enveloping you, while the approaching ice chunks seem to leave an empty bubble around you.

Description :Gas giant with a visible (pre 2.1) 1.5 million km ring. What it makes exceptional is a ringed landable moon whose orbit plane is angled, providing a beautiful scenic point. The location lies 18kly out on the Sag A* "highway" - easy to visit for most travellers.
