The Galactic Mapping Project & Historical Archive of Exploration

Name :Dhat-Badan
Game map search ref. :Chua Dryiae JU-S b51-0
Description :A ternary system in the middle of Abyss with Earth-like (very large polar caps, nice land masses) which has a terraformable Water world twin planet, another terraformable water world and one terraformable high-metal content world. Also two ringed icy planets. When atmospheric landings will be possible, it will be a welcome resting place for explorers going to or returning from Beagle Point. Named after the ancient Yemen and Ethiopia goddess of oasis.

Name :Eactaisky Stellar Remnant
Game map search ref. :Eactaisky IR-N e6-2
Description :A neutron star, its A class companion and the gas giant with water based life, surrounded by blue nebula. Quite a sight in otherwise remote and dull Mare Desperationis.

First submission here. I entered this system and immediately passed through one of the two stars, momentarily getting a glimpse of that polygon lattice you get when you peek under the surface of a planet, accompanied by a loud bang (like hitting a rock) and then immediately overheating. Of the 4000 or so systems I've visited so far, this one came the closest to killing me.

Name :Ushornt VQ-G c10-0 (I don't have anything clever)
Game map search ref. :Ushornt VQ-G c10-0
Description :Extremely close binary stars present an immediate danger upon entering the system. The distance between the edge of the stars appears to be around 1/3 of the diameter of the smaller star. The two stars have a rotational period of .3 days.

Good luck!

If you do make it, please record your route as it'll become an invaluable source of info for future explorers :)

I did make it, was across for a long while, and came back to meatspace for XBOX Horizons launch.

Oh, and I made a detailed map of the route across, including some new POIs. I will add POI screenshots and textual descriptions of them after I process through my hundreds ofscreencaps and such ;P

Maps are on my thread here.

Hope that helps some folks get across. Of course now with the engineers and jumponium for all, it's less of an issue, but the map will at least help folks plot routes thru some of those areas where route plotting is such a pain.

Hi Erimus ;)

You can add that one : Borderlands Venture

Thorough mapping expedition (like... thorough)
ETA: around mid-july for me but it's mostly up to anyone, once the docs are ready
Location: a sector of the Upper 1st Quadrant.

Possible POI

Type - Beacon system
Name - The Four Muses
GalMap - Strivie JG-Y e3
Note - This is one of the britghtest systems in this part of the Abyssal Plain. With Three Class , and one Class A stars.

So I went to Hollywood...

On my way to the Borderlands Venture, I took a detour to Froarks Nebula and met with CMDR Hessiam there. We shared a virgin planetary nebula, she found a triple Wolf-Rayet system (DRYUAE AOSCS AA-A h190). Then I scouted the GalMap and I found that a nearby sector looked rather insane. BYOO AIRG sector and its surroundings is a dense Neutron Stars field, packed with O stars, carbon stars and Wolf Rayets. Roaming about the area, I grabbed 100 carbon stars in BYAA AIN, BYAA AIM, BYUA AIN, FOETT, FROALT, IOWHAIL, OEPHAICH and OOSCS AOB sectors; I left countless others. Then I moved to BYOO AIRG where I found most of the 124 Wolf-Rayets I visited (7 already tagged, 117 untagged by then); I grabbed a few in BYA AIL, OEPHAIF and OOSCS AOB sectors. The Wolf-Rayet area stretches about 1,500ly on its longest side, containing 124 WR systems (including a few multiple WR sys) and probably a few others I didn't care to look for farther away. I also found 3 A Class Supergiants, 1 tagged and 2 untagged.

All this little trek amounts to about 85,000ly (Bubble>Froarks>Carbon stars>WR>Bubble). Now if this area is worthy of the Mapping Project, I name it Hollywood, where stars shine bright, big, and die young :D

Thanks for the latest additions over the last few weeks - we haven't added any of the recent ones yet due to the mapping team working on the overview map and having a rethink on how we're presenting regions (this should be resolved this week and the maps will be updated soon afterward) :)

I suggest Colonia for the name of Jaques nearby nebula.

Colonia = Colony.

Thanks to Erimus and mapping team for suggesting a few names for me to choose from.

Me again (I know...).

Just assembled this: Galactic Route + Jumponium Calculator, so if you have detailed routes somewhere... or links... that I could use... Thanks :D
Nice work Qohen :) I'll add links to it on the various travel route and crossing point entries on the map. It'll be a great source of info for explorers looking up routes when using the maps.

I still need to update the maps with latest entries, I'm about a month behind, but will get around to it as soon as possible!
