"GEN# +2.12450534, which is a part of NGC 1245, a star cluster that's just out of reach. Also the only star in the galaxy to use the "GEN#" name designation"

This is now reachable - just! - with a Fleet carrier. Is this star cluster cluster notable? It is 496ly from the nearest other system outside the cluster, 1434ly below the plane, quite far out.

Mentioned as unreachable in these two threads: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/system-name-gen-2-12450534.279694/#post-4336382

I'm not sure if we had this in the GMP before but the EDSM entry was deleted in the great purge and has now been restored.

While the system is not reachable, it is significant and ought to have something about it in EDSM

Name:Col 70 Sector FY-N c21-3
Game map search ref:Col 70 Sector FY-N c21-3
Description:Many people have speculated that this system may well be the Thargoid home world because of is special significance in decoding messages from the Thargoid probes, devices and links. The system sits inside the Col 70 system which has been locked with an unknown permit. The main star is a T-Tauri (TTS3 VA) star and from spectrographic images we can tell that it has at least nine orbiting bodies.

While there is no evidence to suggest that this reall is the Thargoid homeworld, it cannot be denied that Col 70 Sector FY-N c21-3 and Merope are of special significance to the Thargoids because the distance between them is used as a unit of measurement.

The thargoid device provides a set of instructions for triangulation. Scanning it will produce 3 apparently identical messages. If you analyse the audio using a spectogram it contains an hidden image. This spectrogram image contains a form of system map, which can be seen with the 4 circular disks at the top, bottom and sides of the image. The top system is what is considered the ‘target’ system, the bottom system is considere the ‘current’ system. The system to the left is Merope, and to the right we Col 70 Sector FY-N C21-3

The image also contains icons for the Thargoid Sensor, Probe and Link as well as 2 Thargoid Interceptors in the upper corners. The several lines and dashes in the centre of the image represent the numbers 1, 2 and 3.

The spectrogram provides instructions on how to locate different sites of interests using the Thargoid Link. To summarise the overall process, the Link will provide you with 3 sets of numbers relating to distance. Compare these distances in relation to the 3 systems on the spectrogram: Merope, Col 70 Sector FY-N C21-3, and the ‘current’ system, and you can triangulate the ‘target’ system or the system of interest. The unit of measurement is the distance between Merope and Col 70.

A Thargoid probe if jettisoned in the sphere of influence of a planet will send a tightbeam transmission to Merope encoding the characteristics of the planet. One of the values encoded is the distance of the planet to Col 70 Sector FY-N c21-3 and this distance is also measured in units that are the distance between Merope and Col 70 Sector FY-N c21-3.

Resubmission of #4589

Name:Oceanus
Game map search ref:Kyloae Pruae DL-Y g5
Description:In the depths of the core, one may find some of the darkest life-bearing worlds in the galaxy. These peculiar worlds closely orbit the barycenter between two black holes. Ordinarily, these would be frigid icy bodies, but two intensely hot neutron stars are able to provide the energy required for liquid oceans and surface life. The closer Earth-like also has a landable, volcanically active moon.

The route to reach this system will require a decent jump range, a few neutron-boosted jumps, and a careful eye on the fuel reserves:
  • Kyloae Pruae NI-S e4-2 (NS) to Kyloae Pruae DL-Y g3. 238.30 ly
  • Kyloae Pruae DL-Y g3 (BH+NS) to Kyloae Pruae DL-Y g5. 100.32 ly

"Tartarus" is of course taken, but the system currently named that should probably be archived as it's only a black hole.

"Tartarus" is of course taken, but the system currently named that should probably be archived as it's only a black hole.

You're not wrong about it being a black hole, but it's also a 48 stellar mass BH pretty close to Jacques which adds to appeal. We should be able to find another name, but as I've said before, "lowest/highest of X type" are problematic - those records get broken and need to be replaced, and we already have a problem keeping up with the absolute top/bottom records people make. Multiplying it by the number of body types is a real headache.

I'll edit the post to only include my second choice then and maybe I'll come up with a more apt name later.

The description I wrote could be changed to exclude that it's currently a record holder. I would say this system would still be POI-worthy even if it were in the galactic plane as it's the only system with two ELWs directly orbiting black holes.

Name: Cythia
Game map search ref: EOL PROU EL-O D6-487
Description: This system harbors a ELW orbiting a gas giant. The ELW is off axis from its home gas giant giving it a view of the rings from a distance. The ELW also harbors metallic/rocky rings and a moon which also orbits off axis. The moon is mountainous and provides beautiful views of both worlds. But beware - climbing said mountains can be a death sentence...

Can not add to GMP, system EOL PROU EL-O D6-487 is not in EDSM database. You will need to upload a scan of this system to EDSM. As is true for every and all POI.

Map Update #4851 - #4900

You're not counting wrong, the team is splitting up the backlog by ranges, so updates may be out-of-order to the posting. This batch had a lot of DSSA carriers, little to actually add.

Added:

#4886 - Lemon Slice Nebula

Not added:

#4851 - notability
#4852 - notability
#4876 - notability
#4879 - system EOL PROU EL-O D6-487 is not in EDSM and needs to be added in order to be a POI

Map Update #4951 - #5000

Again mostly DSSA entries, but some others. Most things being submitted are still not noteable or particularly special, they're just things that the individual pilot things is interesting, but have likely been seen before.

Added:

#4987 - Gyroscope

Not added:

#4950 - notability
#4966 - notability
#4967 - notability
#4978 - notability
#4982 - not added without evidence of actual collision
#4985 - notability
#4986 - notability
#4993 - notability
#4996 - neat but not a record holder
#5000 - notability

Updated:

#4959 - Magellan's Star updated with route
#4988 - The Dryau Awesomes updated with note on colliding moons. no data currently available on the frequency of collision, pilots are encouraged to submit data
#4998 - 'Barnacle Sites - the Pleiades' updated to indicate which system sites are located in
