Unfortunately the ability to add comments when giving rep, and to give Neg rep were being increasingly abused to the point that it was decided to remove those options all together.

One should never say 'never', so I'll add that they "won't ever" be coming back :)

I'm glad it's gone, people were using it when you disagreed with their view point. One idiot even neg repped me for using the word JONTY. I wouldn't mind seeing the entire rep system disappear.
As for comments, send a PM.

Was it me!? :D I neg repped a few people for using that term because it's so utterly, mind-numbingly lame that seeing it perpetuated made me cringe at the very sight of the stupid word. :)

While I understand neg repping being removed, is it really necessary to remove the ability to comment? Most of the time, I'd like to say why I am repping the person's post.

The changes started by removing the comments first as these were used quite often to insult other member(s). After removing the comments the number of unjustified neg reps have drastically increased, meaning it became another way to abuse. If comments are turned back on again nothing stops from giving positive reputation and leaving nasty comments about it.

Why not allow abusive comments to be flagged for moderation in the same way as everything else? Deal with the abusers by taking away their ability to use the rep system.

Bubble wrap. Cotton Wool. Kid gloves.
The real world is harsh and cruel.
We shouldn't hide from it, but instead learn to deal with it.
I'm not afraid to be honest, and I'm not afraid of the criticism that brings.

EDIT: I'd like to add, I think this is an over-reaction. We have 74,147 members on this forum. How many of them were abusing the rep system, and how many were getting abused by the rep system? I'm willing to bet it's a lot less than 50% of the members.

I really miss the comments in the rep. I dislike repping someone and not being able to tell them what it was for. I rarely used negative rep but when I did I felt it was justified and I explained why I was doing it.

I'm using CH Products HOTAS and pedals. They are working fine thus far and have seen a good bit of flight time in a-10c, uh-1h and other dcs titles.

Started out using Keyboard Mouse, which was working OK, although roll was far to sensitive but didn't get around to sorting it out. Now flying a Warthog, but still in the process of ironing out my setup, which is further compounded by the fact that I only play at weekends.

Initial reactions to the Warthog is that it's an extremely high quality item, but perhaps a little overkill for my limited playing time, but what the hey!

I started with my MS Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro that I had from my Falcon 4.0 days. I recently just for a T flight HOTAS X for Elite. I don't know what to make of it yet. Throttle control is much better on the Thrustmaster but I think I preferred the stick on the Sidewinder.

Joysticks

any idea what type of joystick would be good for Elite, I think A Warthog Joystick would be to much Joystick for me, but am thinking of a Saitek X-52, or maybe I should just use a gamepad?
