Actually, I checked the mappings you gave me, and the throttle doesn't show much.. I am wondering about this one, since the switches is on and off, not like the X55 where the switches were temporary press.. I'm not sure how this Warthog throttle will work with Elite button-mappings

My CH Fighter stick and pro throttle, with saitek pedals was awesome (pre 1.1). Post 1.1, something is amiss with controller detection, but that's another thread.

Just throwing the CH Fighter stick/pro throttle/pedals option out there for ya.

1.1 Update joystick detection issue

So, after an experience of mine, and reading the 1.1 patch thread, and seeing a couple in here, I thought it was time for it's own thread. The 1.1 joystick detection issue thread.

What's happening: joysticks/controllers that worked pre 1.1 are no longer detected.

My example:

Pre 1.1:
Using CH fighter stick, pro throttle, and saitek pedals in ED. I also had a TM 1600 joystick and two Cougar MFD's plugged in, but not using for ED. All was well.

Post 1.1:
Fighter stick, pedals not detected. TM1600 and pro throttle detected. I unplugged the TM1600 and that got me the CH fighter stick back in ED. Still no pedals.

So, something had changed that has now (post 1.1) limited the number of controllers you can have plugged in and can expect to use in ED.

If this impacts you, please post your controller setup and if you have been able to fix this somehow. Also, if you have 3 or more controllers (if you combined your controllers in 3rd party software, that doesn't apply here), and all three work, please let us know.

Abil

Full CH pro setup here, Fighterstick, throttle, pedals. Not running through the controller software, ED reads as 3 controllers. No issues. Did suffer from last year's 2-device bug.

I'm using both throttle and stick. It's nothing like anything else I've used. These are Hall effect devices, unparalleled accuracy and precision.

There are a one or two things I might refine as far as function assignments go, but i wouldn't trade these for anything else currently available.

YMMV

Yes - the the hard toggles are pretty much useless, but there are enough momentary switches to cover the essentials.

Also be prepared - they are heavy

Cool.

Have you ever used the CH software to combine the three controllers? If you ever did, ED might see it as one controller.

How do you know ED sees it as 3? I can't tell what ED sees, only if it detects it or not when I try to remap a control. In Windows, you can tell by looking in "devices and printers" and if you right click on one of your game controllers and choose "game controller settings". There may be one listed as "CH Control Manager Device 1". That's the name Windows gives your combined CH controllers. Otherwise, they'll be listed separately.

There's 3 others with it no longer working, and one other it's working (that I know of). I guess for 4 it's no longer working and for 2 it is. I just don't know what the differences are.

I hadn't changed anything since last night, and then 1.1 drops today, and I go in game and my throttle/buttons and pedals don't work. After some messing around trying to remap things, it still doesn't work.

If I can map things like I do on the X55, I'll go for this Warthog.. I also saw a youtube video. They said the Warthog is very stiff.. Is it possible to losen it up a little bit?

Yes there are YouTube vids on how to disassemble and reduce the spring tension. I haven't used an X55 but I can tell you that the only time I use my kybd is in the Galaxy map to type in a destination system. Is there something you have keyed that I don't? I can't answer that, but I wouldn't trade my setup for anything made by Saitek. I used some of their stuff and it's like night and day. If you haven't used Hall effect gear, it's hard to describe the feel of quality and precision.

But don't take my word for it - there are tons of reviews out there that are more informative than anything I can tell you. I think there are threads here that some guys have shared their configurations and advice. The info is out there.

Allright. Thanks a lot! :)

Doublechecked for science - apparently I hallucinated reading the stick numbers proper in the bindings page; that or I'm thinking of another control setup I've been doing lately. My bad on that one. >___> It's possible I was thinking of how I could assign the same button number from a different input (two Joy3 controls, for example).

Despite that, I never needed the CH software since there's scads of les boutons on these controllers; so no intentional use of the software. Looking in my Windows Devices and Printers, I have all three controllers plus the CH Control Manager Root Device, but this is the same as it was during the original 2-device bug. I didn't try to combine them during the 2-D because the fix was only two days out, and was easier to wait than to mess around with a temp fix.

Throw some chicken blood on it, at this point it couldn't do anything weirder.

I moved from X52 Pro stick and throttle to the warthog stick and throttle. I'd used nearly all buttons on the Saitek, and I have a TON not mapped on the Warthog. There are many, many more buttons on the Warthog. Plus the Warthog stick has a shift "lever" on the front of the stick that basically doubles the number of programmable buttons. Using only the in-game Elite mapping I would estimate I am using something like 30-40 pct of programmable buttons on the Warthog, whereas I was at 95 pct on the X52. If I used the Warthog config software - which provides even more flexibility and increases the max number of things I can program, I'd estimate I'm probably at 20-30 pct of programmable capacity on the warthog. You'll have TONS of headroom on the warthog. Plus, it just feels so much better in the hand - heavy, solidly built, "real". Get it - you won't regret it.

Simply put, get a Warthog. They are truely amazing bits of kit. I've got the HOTAS set up and even though I've not mapped everything perfectly (still use the keyboard for some things but going to swap them out for the 'shift' modifiers the stick provides that I had forgotten about). The sticks performance is great, accurate and actually feels very comfortable in the hand as does the throttle. There is no better feeling than just lining up to exit a station and just punching it to max thrust and then boosting, you really can't describe it, but it's really your 'go go!' button, even with the slower bricks.

Now there are some disadvantages witht eh Warthog however. There is no stick twist for yaw, the stick does not support it. To counter you can map soem other bottons on the throttle for your thumb but it's slower to react and just not the same (getting peddles would fix this, at a cost, but would help with immersion so up to you). Also as a semi advantage and disadvantage, both the throttle and stick are HEAVY. The throttle is 3.5kg alone and the stick is around 3kg. It makes them stay put where ever you put them with that weight and the rubber bits on the bottom, however if you don't have a cockpit made up to play the game like most players, putting them away can be a drag and if you drop them from almost any hight onto tiles, they will survive fine most of the time, but the tiles or floorboards...not so much (friend of mine dropped their throttle about 10cm onto a tile and cracked the tile with zero damage both in looks and functionality to the throttle. They are built to a great standard however.

There are many reviews out there on other sticks that I have never used so please have a look around on youtube, they have some good reviews and advice on how to modify settings to make the sticks suit your needs.

+1 for the CH recommendation. I have a full CH HOTAS/Pedal/Throttle Quadrant setup and I just love it. The mini-joystick on the throttle is just fantastic for thrusting and gives me far greater precision than a hat or mouse nub.

Hi.

Why not have `CH Pro Throttle`, `CH Fighter Stick` and `CH F16 Combat Stick` in the poll? These are after all, side by side with Thrustmaster, the best of the best.

I have CH Pro Throttle and Fighter Stick. I voted `others`.

Regards

Science thanks you. I know what you mean. I was confused by the 1.1 update line "allow use of second controller" because I was already using 3. Then 1.1 hit, and I can only use 2 now. Some others can use 3. I wonder if it has anything to do with USB 2 vs USB 3 ports being used.

I always preferred throwing chicken bones, rather than chicken blood...less of a mess.

Since YAW is a much slower axis than ROLL in ED, it's more natural for me to have YAW on pedals. No need for fine foot control, and it's far more useful in Supercruise in making small course corrections.
I used to have Roll mapped to pedals years ago, (in other space sim games like Freespace 2) and it wasn't exactly fun.

Yes, I've switched that now. Unlearning twist was easy, but I'm still struggling when adjusting everything at once, throttle, roll, yaw and pitch. Each individually is fine. I love how you can finetune the reaction curve in the CH control manager. Vertical and lateral thrust on the throttle ministick would be far too erratic, if I hadn't toned reaction near the center down quite a bit. Now I have precision positioning there.
