Nosscar, I have been using the T flight X since release now and for the same price range there is little to no argue.
Great Hotas.
Your review on the other hand is exemplary. You should seriously post this jewel on Amazon to show everybody how it's done.

The Hotax X seems to be more popular, has more consistent better reviews and is only a couple of pounds more. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaste...XYMFS/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t/277-5097473-7803147

i can actually get the thrustmaster cheaper here at £29.94 inc postage. just can't understand why it states "wired for ps3" i hope it means the usual switch for pc or ps3.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331591783293?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

but the one in my OP has 7 axes, 2 POV (Point of View / Hat Switch) and 16 individualaction buttons – with both Joystick and Throttle controls.
So more functions, question is the quality.

Yes it can be switched between ps3 and pc no problem - picked mine up for approx £30 in Maplins back in beta - saved a few quid with some vouchers I had , figuring it would do as a stop gap. Having now tried a far more expensive Saitek set up on someone else's rig ... i wouldn't swap the Thrustmaster for anything else. Coupled with an Edtracker (£40 roughly - prebuilt ) I strapped to some cheap but surprisingly good maxtek headphones (approx £14 from Aldi) short of building an actual cockpit I have everything I need for Ed for under £90.

Yes i have the ED tracker too, plus i use voice attack, so the extra buttons on the Logic3 JS285 are not needed too much, but was thinking they would be nice to have, but not at the expense of quality.
That is why i asked on here if any one had some experience of using the Logic3 JS285 .

I'm not commenting on the quality of the reviews, bud… only stating that most of the reviews about the product are somewhat negative.
I'm not pretending to "review" the T flight X on a two lines post on a forum either, just giving my opinion.

To me, a "bad review" goes in hand with a "bad product" not a "bad reviewer".

This was my go to hotas until i got my warthog. Was great for the money and i used it for about a year with no problem. My wingmate still uses it to this day. For the price, you can't go wrong.

I am warming to it, as long as it robust enough to last a while at least.
I like the idea of the 3 modes settings, so you can configure it for normal space flight, SC, Jump buttons, navigation, maps ect.
Then jump to combat mode and have them configured for that, and then maybe an exploration mode for scanning, systems maps ect. lots of possibilities.
From what i have read they are a cheaper copy of the x45, and very similar.

I have a Thrustmaster T16000, which I like.
Does anyone know how to map the throttle to it's throttle in E: D please?
Yes, I have the T16000M and you can map the throttle in ED/Options/Controls. In the section under Flight Throttle click next to Throttle Axis and move the throttle on the joystick. "Joy Z-axis" will be entered in that space. This will ensure that the throttle is set up as analog instead of digital. Be sure to set a bit of a dead zone or it will be difficult to stop your ship. I set Invert=On so that moving the throttle forward will increase speed, etc. Also set Increments=Continuous.
.
I suggest going in for a training mission after you set this up. The throttle will now control forward and reverse throttle, so it has to be centered in it's slide range and of course the dead space you set affects how much play you'll have. When landing, make sure you bring your ship's forward thrust to a stop and use your vertical thrust to bring it to its resting point, otherwise you'll get unwanted thrust when you launch and could wind up losing your ship to a crash.

I use a pair of T16000M sticks, one for each hand. Right controls rotations and the left controls translations. The throttle on the left is the main throttle that I only use in supercruse, when I'm in normal space I push the stick forward for forward and back for back, left, right, twist for up and down. I have the hat switches and buttons set up a lot like the advanced controller scheme with modifiers so I can access most functions without taking my hands off the sticks. I wasn't sure what to do with the throttle on the right stick so I made it control zoom on the radar. Not really useful.
Anyway I really like this setup and wouldn't trade it for any HOTAS. The full stick for thrusters is amazing in combat.

I got a used X52Pro which I managed to make it work with the dreadful madcatz profile software, so I can have different button setups for combat/supercruise/normal cruise-docking. I don't use the default ED settings for it though, took some time to configure everything the way I wanted it :)

Hi, I am thinking of getting a Thrustmaster, BUT:
I see both the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X and the Thrustmaster T-Flight X - apart from the obvious difference in the throttle, the non-throttle version seems to have a LOT of buttons, whereas the Hotas-version only has a few. So why is everyone chosing the Hotas? Does it make that much of a difference?
