Thrustmaster t16000m if you want accuracy in dogfighting the other stuff like saitek is way overpriced junk with pretty lights. The CH fighterstick is maybe a tad less accurate but has more functionality (buttons), it has no twist though.

Don't take my word for it though just look up x52 mods. Most people that have used better higher quality stick end up doing the magnet mod along with a spring mod.

The t16000m for example uses the same hall sensors that the warthog does but has less button but doesn't have the sticky stick problem like the warthog often suffers from. You do have to get a throttle or second stick though. This one is also an ambidextrous stick. You could pair this up with a CH throttle or fighterstick of just try it out with a KB.

If you have lots of cash and don't mind being on a waiting list you can try the vkb fat black mamba.

If you can only watch one video listen to ALL of the x52review especially when he mention compares some elements like accuracy and reliability.

I got three videos from the same guy from youtube because I recently found his reviews and found them pretty spot on and more than useful when buying.

Since this keeps popping up. I would even say using the t16000m with and mouse KB works pretty dang good too!

I'm using a Logictec 3d pro and its pretty good, though i use the stick and keyboard, I plan on getting the Thrustmaster X HOTAS for the price and the reviews I've read it seems the best bang for the buck, and it seems like no keyboard is needed (unless your comm chatting). So either or is good, though since your using a DK2 then go for the HOTAS, it ll make it more immersive and easier to control.

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro user here. Love it. 12 buttons + 8 way HAT are more than adequate for just about any game and voice control takes care of the rest, plus its $25-30 w/shipping. Cant beat it for the price.

I've tried an X-52 HOTAS and while its neat and has tons of buttons, it just isn't comfortable for long periods of use for me. My arms and hands are more in a natural rest position with the E3DP. I also tend to shift sitting positions very often so its easy to re-position when playing for hours at a time. It also sits lower than most joysticks so there's less angle on your wrist.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies from everyone! I posted this last night, went to sleep and come back to 4 pages!
Im kinda torn between the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and the Thrustmaster T-16000M. Although I might go with Logitech because I haven't had a problem with any of the other products I have bought from them and a lot of you agree its a good stick.
And again thanks for the quick replies!

Definitely TM T16000M at that price range.

It uses the same MLX90333 Hall Effect sensor as the Warthog. Runs at 14 bit digital SPI mode. This is the best resolution you are going to get for commercial mass production joystick at the moment.

The internal gimbal is different from the Warthog, simpler and cheaper plastic, and not as beefy as Warthog. But should last if you grease it right. However, the twist and throttle use plain old potentiometer, not very good quality ones. However, it's not like Logitech Extreme 3D uses good quality pots anyway. The button mechanism is as cheap as they can make it, but so is Logitech's.

And with T16000M, you get to use Target.

I have tried several and now have an x52 pro. My favourite of all the rest was one of the cheapest.

I used a black widow and bought a cheap USB numeric keypad. Mapped the keypad keys to controls I could not fit on the black widow (it only has 8 buttons), and sat it next to the joystick.

I printed out paper labels and stuck them on the pad. Did everything I needed. I could use it with the rift with a bit of practice, and the black widow is a fantastic joystick for the price.

What an excellent idea! Thank you. *runs off to peer into Amazon's window*

I have an older Saitek AV8R-01 and it has lasted me many years flying FSX... It has plenty of buttons (the buttons on the base are switchable so 4 two-way button x 2 modes=16 possible assignments +3 button and a trigger up on top), a twist stick, a nice hat, and a dual throttle... I'm not sure the newest versions of this stick are of the same build quality as the one I have though... There is also a Madcatz version of this stick but I hear it's not built as well as the Saitek kit

Please allow me to emphatically un-recommend the T-Flight HOTAS X.

I used to own one. It has horrible deadzones, especially on the yaw rotation. The construction is poor quality. It doesn't have very many buttons, and the ones it does have are not that well placed. It definitely is not up to the level of Thrustmaster's other products.

If you think the quality and accuracy of the joystick itself is more important, get the T-16000M. It is far more accurate.
If you think the buttons and button placement are more important, the Logitech will probably serve you fine.

Personally, I'd go with the T-16000M, as I consider accuracy to be paramount.

I had read about the x55 but the longevity issues scared me off. Bought the tflight from thrustmaster and it's been very good for the fifty bucks. If I ever spring for a really nice one, the tflight will make a great backup.

I'm using an ancient Saitek p750 (it's been repaired with new buttons) - first used to play Xtension a long while ago. Seems to be adequate for the purpose.

As a person who is spoiled by the x52 Pro, my first impressions of looking at the specs of the Logitech 3d Pro is this:
1) Looks kinda inexpensive and cheap
2) I'm very glad it has the 3d twist. I wouldn't use a joystick without it any more.
3) Only one eight way hat switch? I'd prefer two four way switches instead. I actively use three hats on the x52. In Elite, I think you need discrete hats for two main things: menu navigation and thrusters. Other things can be put on separate buttons. For this reason, even an Xbox One controller will be better than this because it has two analog sticks and direction buttons which, in affect, like having two hats.
4) No pinky shift switch? Well, I can probably make macros to get around that problem I'd guess.
5) I can't imagine not having a big separate button filled throttle at my left hand in Elite, but not having it would save space.

Best explorer. Best trader (unless you like flying that space brick they call T9). Best ship in 1v1 PvP. Best ship to have in a wing of 3 smaller ones.

That's a novel definition of "best." "Best if you don't like flying a possibly better ship for the job."

I agree conda is often a better trader than a t9. Conda has a better jump range than the asp for exploration but that's about it.

I think it is more accurate that the conda is very very good at almost everything.

More big ships??!! There are many gaps to cover -somebody already commented on this. But fully support it! We need more variety, more color, more shapes in these ships.

Who needs bigger ships at this point when you can't land or transport a smaller one in them?? Until that's not an option, I don't see the need for more!

As it is, I already have the biggest ship I would like to fly: Asp. Why? Anything bigger won't land in outposts, only stations. And that's another thing that irritates me: all big stations are the same boring structures over and over. Even the luxury ones, that are just slightly better looking than the other, are sooo rare.

I want to see variety, I want to see differences, I want to see why the Empire is the Empire, and how luxurious, exhuberant and over indulgent their station get, oppose to the refinement, pragmatic yet elegant design of corporation, versus more inventive and creative one in Alliance. Unique stations that you visit because, just as in Earth, you go to Paris for the Eiffel Tower, New York for the Empire State, so forth and so on...there are no special stations or places to go and visit, to do tourism... a station with unique features, like a library one to search through the Universal Cartographics Data -I suggested this in another thread- or the Imperial Palace Station in Achenar where you can see the power of the Empire, with only rares in the commodity market, or a Military Fortress in Federation that only sells all weapons and defense systems only for certain ranks and have military patrolling....

None..we don;t get uniqueness..nor in the ships, nor in the stations....as it is we cant even name the ships, we don;t have much option when it comes to livery or decals, and belonging to a faction or allegiance is the same than belonging to any other...this is just a profound impersonal experience that requires a lot to customize and "make unique" make "my own" make it interesting and varied.

Some ships should be able to be outfitted for everything. Some. Out of the total 30 projected, shouln't be more than 4 or 5. All others should be clear cut for exploration, or mining, or combat. As a Explorer, no, I dont feel attracted to the 40ly of a Conda..everything else about it sucks from my point of view cause I dont engage in combat.

I love Elite and the game and I know they are patching lots of things...but enough already with the lack of design, creativity and lack of customization....next thing you know, to add insult to injury, these things are valued in the hundreds of million credits...but no! this is a sandbox with no end and ships are not levels to achieve....yeah right...easy to see why so many grind and grind and see it that way...

Just posting to invalidate previous post. We need big ships.

100% agreed. I love big ships and I fell in love with the Federal Corvette the second I laid eyes on her. Am looking forward immensely to her release.

Here's hoping she comes in as part of 1.3! *fingers crossed*
