Thrustmaster HOTAS X

Never used a JS before now, but love using my new Thrustmaster HOTAS X with ED.

Still getting used to the setup but it is an excellent product on a budget. Enough buttons for me, generally in the right places...

in premium beta - alpha 1.1 - you cant use the Throttle axis atm. only yaw, roll and pitch

I modded my T16000 (screw - open - remove Lights) btw. its much better now.

The Throttle axis works fine on my T16000 with Prem Beta Alpha.

So maybe you got something selected wrong.

For Dukester, no ready set Profile, It defaulted to Custom for me, but easy enough to set controls to whatever you want.

Based mine on my FreeSpace Open / Diaspora setup.

Works great.

Hi.

Does anyone know how I can ask the debs or send a bug report so that the game can detect the position of the physical flick switches on the throttle controller - or have an ON AND AN OFF binding for each possible command in the controller config.

I love my hot as and the switches, but they don't work correctly with the current Alpha 3.4.

Thanks

Any thoughts please?

Any thoughts please?

There are software you can use to map your switches and buttons to various keypresses, and depending on the software they can make continous switches act as momentary ones.

Im not sure which one would suit best though, but check out PPJoy and/or HIDMacros. Im sure there are other softwares aswell.

Did you simply cut the wires to the leds?

no I feared if I cut the wires that there could go sth. wrong with the circuit.

I just unscrew the 4 lights and just wind it around random parts in the lower bottom. they are still lighting and if I peak into the opening at the thruster-fader I can see them - so the function still remeains. but they dont really move, and they dont disturb anylonger at night.

I wouldnt recommend cutting the wires though - you never know!

Could you specify which HOTAS do you have? May be other users of such HOTAS will be able to help you or confirm the bug.
He has a Thrustmaster WartHog. I think he wants to know if the game can sync the switch positions to the related inputs in the game.

Logitech never gave the 940 the ability to merge controllers. It was asked for but they decided to abandon the 940. The 940 could have been a must buy for flight sims if they had just made a couple of changes. I used to own one :)

I still own one and it's actually great. FD said that ther will be a profile for g940 in alpha 4 and they later on there will be force feedback support too.

Yeah multiple devices in HOTAS is a problem not only for G940 but for other HOTAS too that have 2-3 devices. Game before could understand axis on separate devices it was only aware of 3 axis and it was conflicting on stick against pedals agains thruster.

IMHO Force feedback so what makes G940 better than any other HOTAS today. Other HOTAS maybe newer but immersion with FFB with OR on is one of a kind.

Sidewinder force feedback 2

Am I the only one using a Sidewinder force feedback 2 from Microsoft?

I use it with the X52 profile. Thrust controlled using the top buttons :)

Those of you who have the CH Pro Throttle (or some equivalent with a minijoystick) do you use the thumb joystick for translational thrusters?

I'm wondering whether it's better to use that or the 8 way hat. I'm used to quite aggressive combat flying (though I'm not heavy handed) and I wonder how well the minijoystick can handle the constantly changing thrust. On the other hand, having analogue control is tempting.

This Joystick/Controller discussion thread seems the right place to ask your guys opinion. This is important. Please be specific. Not much point me reading answers written by people who are only interested in notching up one extra post on their site stats.

My time with Dangerous is about to begin. I'm choosing between 2 possible controller choices. So far I do not use flight sims, so this controller purchase is fairly lavish for one game, but I know I'll get good value from it in the game for years to come.

If you've used/or use either stick with Elite Dangerous then pls reply. Or even PM me here. I want to buy a stick in the next 2 days. They are both under £40. Price isn't important.

Cyborg F.L.Y 5 or THRUSTMASTER T-FLIGHT HOTAS X

????

With the looks of it alone, the design of the T-Flight I think will hold itself a bit more steady in use.

If you've not used either in Dangerous, pls don't reply. No offence meant.

upgraded to an x52 pro but used the FLY5 stick in a few games including elite. stick itself is more than capable......... however, the throttle feels awful to me, does its job but just feels too small and has no indents for mid-point, also too close to the stick to be comfortable for longer term use.

not tried t-flight but i like the fact you can split the stick/throttle, and it having buttons on the throttle itself

on a completely unrelated topic......... i have a FLY5 for sale:D

Using T-Flight(HOTAS), I use split, it's very good... I use the paddle bar on the throttle for left/right thrusters, engine boost under heal of thumb...

...nearly enough buttons to do everything without going to keyboard.

CON ; lack of coolie hat, or extra axis on throttle part to assign up/down thrusters to.

I set the throttle on left to full range, the middle position is 'keyed'. when moved from centre does not return.

The stick is twist grip, and has a good feel and return (for me), and has been quite precise.

Not a perfect controller for me, but I'd be more than happy to stick with it.... :D
I hope that helps

I'm running full CH Hotas (Pro Throttle, Fighterstick, Pedals). I am using the mini-joystick on the throttle for transitional thrust and it's working beautifully. It's a lot more intuitive to me than the hat switch or 4 way switch, plus you get finer control when needed - docking, for example.

My setup is T-Flight HOTAS Warthog but I also went with the Saitek PRO pedals, I'm not sure how I would be playing ED if I didn't have this combination, too many axis for a joystick alone. I use pedals for lateral thrust and roll, with the stick for pitch and yaw.

The only thing I find is an issue with ED itself, and that is the YAW rate is to slow, it mimics an aircraft rather than a space craft with thrusters. Not sure if there is a way to increase yaw rate?

No, that was design decision to make yaw very slow so that the ship did not become a turret in space.
