Good buy! I recently bought it new, in a store, in a box.. no manual either.
After installing the CD some buttons didn't work under Win7-64bit so I searched the web for the latest drivers and those worked. Seems you did a fine job with 25Euro!

Buttons can be programmed from within the SST Programming software, there's a link to it in the control software icon.

Thanks - yeah it seemed like a good purchase. Mouse dodah is alittle been past its best and the screen has a scratch on it but everything seems to be working ok (so far ;) )

Picked up a Saitek x52-Pro system from a garage sale the other day and would be delighted if E D were to release someway to pre-program this sucker as there are a million buttons and alas no manual was included in the sale. Can't complain as only paid 25€ ;)

I find that the drivers on Windows Update (version 6) work better than the drivers from Saitek (version 7) themselves.

Though you need the SST programming software as well. Which you can get from Saitek easy.

Saitek x52 controller heads up.

Just a friendly post to say that there are a few on Ebay just now, seem to be going from around 30 - 50 pounds, second hand. If you fancy a new one currys.co.uk are doing a special right now for 79.99

Not used one myself, however I just bagged one for 36 pounds on ebay. Looking forward to testing it out soon.

Nag.

HAving recently tried to buy the X52 pro I have found there is a hardship in getting saitek devices at this time.

Beware of ebay cons in case they are cashing in..

I can't even get a warthog just now.. it is proving very tricky.

I wanna joystick!! :D

Amazon???? or Scamazon? lol

Im kidding.. I was passing on what I have heard from a reputable supplier of saitek kit. They can't get new stuff... equally Track IR has issues with LED shortages worldwide..

Weird huh any excuses will do to put prices up..

Buying from Amazon is like buying from a magazine... Amazon is the magazine..

sometimes the item is from Amazon, sometimes its from a seller outside Amazon but using Amazon to ship... and sometimes its someone outside Amazon using their own shipping.

The problem I find is Amazon and return policies are complicated by having to know which of these situations your order falls into... don't knock it you have a lot of protection from amazon, but I had some pretty awful orders in a matter of weeks, BUT I still use them. the bad orders were third parties using amazon shipping.. not simple to return if bits missing etc..

I just got a bunch of stuff - some through ebuyer - some through Amazon.

They did royally screw up the deliveries on some of it.

But - the stuff seems to be okay - built my first PC - and it works!

Didn't even need a hammer in the end..

:D

well done.. .today I had to replace my sons motherboard, PSU and cpu after a bad blow out... I told him.. Should get this done in 30 minutes... have you back up and runing..

Happy to report 24 minutes...!!! YAY PC engineering is still like lego.

Im hoping to hear that my saitek is on its way to me soon though I may prefer the 'we got the warthog, would you pay the difference' more!

Just picked up my X52. It's quite an intimidating beast. LEDs are bright, so they need attention. Only thing I'm not 100% keen on is the joystick angle, it needs to be tilted a bit forward for my liking, which you can't do without tilting the whole unit, with something under it.

Everything seems to be working, ran the test software and all buttons and what not do their things, not sure what those things are doing, but hey! They are doing them and that's the important thing right? lol

Really want to change how the mini mouse stick thing works though, to me it's counter intuitive. Anyone know if this can be easily done?

Next up is set up a profile for FF or FFE... :)

If you go to the windows game controller screen you can adjust the brightness of the LEDs. If you use the Saitek profiler you can set the mouse up as bands and allocate button presses or macros to each band. Simples.

Cheers. I've had a quick look at the profiler, I was mainly trying to figure out / remember what button or control was what. I'll give it closer look once I'm home.

Anyone know if there is a FF or FFE profile already made by someone out there?

x52 profile help requested.

Hey all,

I've spent the best part of 3 hours trying to set up a profile to play FFE with. However I'm struggling with 2 main areas, and they are fairly important ones too..

I can't map the throttle to the throttle, I suspect it can't be done though. I have mapped it to other controls like the toggles.

Using the stick to control the ship is proving equally difficult. I've had to remap the mini mouse control over to the stick and use a latched toggle for R-Click, however I can get the Y axis (up n down) working, but by doing this the X axis isn't roll, it's strafe. I've tried mapping keyboard controls to the X axis , playing with sensitivity and deadzones but can I get the thing to roll? Nope.

Keyboard controls work, but that kind of defeats the purpose. Ideally having it mapped so I didn't have to use a latched toggle would be the best way forward but hey ho. A work throttle would be handy too, but I truly suspect it's not going to happen.

I'm using Andys Mod vesion, and have gone in to the con fig file to enable joysticks and keybinds too - to see if the made any difference.

Anyone got any clues / ideas / solutions?

Um I am not sure if FFE can support analogue throttles. It might have the code in it for all I know, perhaps Steve or AndyJ could advise best here. If they miss your post, perhaps you could ask your question again in this thread. :)

Cheers, I'll wait a while before asking in another thread. Not really too fussed about the throttle, I guess I can manage just using the stick.. :p but the flight control issue with the stick is a pain in the bum.

What version of FFE are you using?

Try JJFFE

I do believe that is the one I'm using, as per Andys Mod.

My old joystick

Hello All
I just joined the forum today and backed up to federal trader saving up for beta tester or even alpha whenever that is!
I really hope the game will be playable on my old Microsoft sidewinder precision 2 joystck! I dont really want to play with those awful console twiddly thingys they look like toys!

I tried a very popular flight sim wargame that you can download, the game is unplayable on a joystick! mouse only
what is the point these days of flying around using a mouse in my view thats just insane, all these advancements in game technology and no one apart from the microsoft flight sims have made a good joystick game I hope ED and SC are very very different!!! rant over :)
