£2.75, a bag of used tissues and a piece of paper with 'Plan' written on it, everyone needs a plan ;)

but seriously, wouldn't this be better suited to ebay? it has an established trust system, a convenient method of payment and unlike these forums its a platform that has been set up to sell things

Also stuggling with CH Throttle

Running beta combat scenarios (alpha 1.1) all hats and buttons are mapped ok but the throttle slider dose not seem to want to map, is this likely to the alpha version 1,1 currently in use for the beta user atm? if not any advice on mapping this aspect would be gratefully appreciated.
thank you in advance of any offered help.

THere was issues with the overlapping control maping in Alpha 1.1, it doesn't support mutliple controllers which doesn't effect X52 pro as it is essentially one controller.. where as the Warthog is two separate controllers..

So it is a known issue and has been resolved!!! YAY!!

I have Alpha 1.1 and CH Fighterstick+Throttle+pedals, and I can use all axis, including the throtlle mini-stick. If you created the empty map as I explained above and it still doesn't work, check in the CH Control Manager if the throttle slider axis are correctly mapped (I don't rememeber if I edited that part or not).

When buying a new joystick do you feel that the software should play a big part in the decision?
I am still entangled in an excruciating decision process. I just do not know what to buy. At the moment I am torn between two very different beasts the CH fighterstick + throttle and the Saitek X55 Rhino HOTAS.

Overwhelmingly yes. I think it's one of the most overlooked but most important aspects. The majority of games more than a few years deal with peripherals in a very simplistic fashion. It's very common to only accept one device, to no allow axis rebindings and so on. CH control manager and Thrustmaster TARGET both allow pretty much anything to be done if you're willing to work out how. Other brands however are very limited, and you're very much at the mercy of the game as to whether you can re-assign axes, or even use all axes. I'd say if you're going to use pedals, you should overwhelmingly consider thrustmaster or CH.

It's not just adaptability; controller functionality is much improved. CH for instance allows me (listing off a few things that I've used recently) to have just about as many 'modes' as you like (essentially each button does up to 5 things on my set, this can be changed to taste), mapping buttons (wsad) to axes, timed macros on keypresses, adjusted functionality for hold rather than click button. You don't realise quite how important or powerful a tool it is until you have it!

Basically, if you use pedals, or if you play a lot of old games, I'd strongly advise TM or CH.

Thank you, I have now looked at the slider axis and set it to Z axis all seems to be well now, thank you again for that :)

Does anyone have an actual copy of Microsoft SideWinder Game Controller Software Version 4.0 (mssff40.zip) they could upload somewhere for me to grab please. Its for Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback joystick, to hopefully gain access to the button and other options.

Would be most grateful, as its disappeared from the web and only spammy links appear to be there now. I spent 3 hours going deep into google.

Maybe some might have it on the last 'Red edition' CD for Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback joystick.

PM me please if you do. Thank you kindly if you can.

Make sure to buy some of these after you pick up your HOTAS and flight pedals.

An aerosol with compressed air, is also useful if you do not have an appropriate cover

Indeed.

I am guessing an old sock and a beanie would suffice for those who don't want to spend much on desktop accoutrements.

A use for unwanted Christmas presents possibly?

I prefer to suck, rather than to blow.

That's what she s..

Oh never mind. Like the covers - funnily enough my other half just told me yesterday how I should be keeping my joystick dust free.

And that really is what she..

Ooops, here we go again.
