it appears to be working on my MS Forcefeedback Pro 2

But still having a huge deadzone in the middle, control setup is a PITA too

Hopefully the finished game will have a good/exceptional level of response curve and dead zone customization. Like this. I would be pretty surprised if it didn't given how invested ED is in analogue input compared to other non-sim games. :D

Thanks for your reply,

Its really for adjusting the force feedback with that stick. I had read that the windows update for windows 7 installs some basic drivers for these sticks now and you lose out on pretty much all options.

I thought installing Microsoft SideWinder Game Controller Software Version 4.0 in win200/xp compatibility mode would work.

I'm not sure those other app suggestions handle force feedback.

You will need to track down fededit. I will look tonight on the gaming compy.
Found the files but cant attach to pm. Send me you email address and I will send them.

I have come across a brand new still boxed CH Force FX stick, gameport connector. Shame to waste a good stick so I'd like to at least try and get it working in windows.

Does anyone know how to get this working on USB win7x64 with the force feedback.

Any and all help most appreciated.

Thank you kindly commander for that data package :)

I did try many tricks to get it to work, installing as win2000 mode, and other tricks I read up on etc looking up dozens of threads. But its dead to windows 7. Without some driver hacking knowledge I just don't think getting a proper full force feedback control panel is possible in win7 onwards.

Have now sent Bill gates an email requesting he do something about this MS force feedback 2 and windows 7/8/9 control panel functionality, and to get some people writing new drivers and fully supported force feedback control panel software. ;) Someone from MS might read it.

Fedit yes I have this thanks (v1.0). I also found some profiles to load in to test the stick. Not sure how this controls the FFB generally though.

Am I right in thinking the FFE files can edited and placed in which ever game I am using it with and that already had ffe files. (backing those original files up first of course).

And or is there a general windows ffe file. I'm new to this so don't really understand what Fedit is for. I can test a sticks force feedback with the various ffe profiles if I load them in. But beyond that I don't know any more.

Force feedback does not work in the current beta - not on my FFB2 (green led/USB). I could be missing something though? Let me be clear: the stick works but there is no vibration etc.

Also iirc gameport stuff wont work with windows 7, probably not even with xp.

Joystick throttle detent (or lack thereof)

Is a bit of a bummer having a traditional joystick with throttle and no way to tell where the middle is. Most flight sims just need to know on/off, thrust/no thrust. ED however has a reverse gear, one you need to use to win fights ..

Anyone got any suggestions how I could get a detente? Can you configure a deadzone on the axis in game maybe?

I'm using an old FFB btw.

From what I can tell the device driver must be force feedback capable. Games/Simulator software send a Directinput command which I think is standard across the range of all games whenever a force feedback situation occurs. It's the Directinput device driver that interprets it and sends the command to the joystick.

Profile for X52 Pro??

Hi all

Got one of those fancy X52 Pro joysticks - never used one before.

Am thinking of getting an upgrade to the premium beta but was wondering about joystick support. Does the above post mean that the game already has these presets that load automatically, or if not then does anyone share their profiles so i can download a copy?

many thanks

The game already has that preset set up for you in options, just select X-52 Pro and you're good to go

Of course you can always tweak it, but the default one FD have in the game is already pretty good.

Yes you can edit the way the game talks to the stick. I think that there is a readme file in the stuff I sent, but there has to be files in the game for you to edit and I dont know if Dangerous has them yet.
