Good Idea?

Hi Surmav,

Mining has not yet been implemented into this version of the Beta. I expect it will show up fairly soon though.

NPC's are able to haul you out of Frameshift using some kind of interdiction device. At present it is not available to players but again it should show up in a later beta release

Mining, on the live twitch thing last night it seemed from Michael's response we have a little time to wait before we can go mining :( due to 'complications'

Looking forward to both interdiction and mining though.

I think the Type 6 will make an ideal mining vehicle

Which ships are best for mining and where can i get mining equipment?

Also I'm wondering how can other ships get me out from SC? Are they using some kind interrupter or what?

Hey and welcome :)
There is an extensive mining thread already check it out. (no mining yet, coming soon)

In SC there is a chance of 'interdiction' if another ship has interdiction equipment. When used succesfully you are both pulled out of SC.

Interdiction equipment will be purchasable in later releases.

Peruse the DDA, the wealth of info there is invaluable.

I'm a little concerned, the Beta has maybe a felt amount of ~10% of the features described in the design proposals but they're aiming for a Q4 2014 release. I doubt this is doable except they've got nearly everything already done and just need to do testing.

So for currently what is there to do's is just PVP with players, piracy, transporting / selling items from markets and exploring?
Currently i can't arrange group of players to own/build space stations for own faction nor attack space stations etc?
Or is there something more into it for me to do and test?

you bet!

I'll try to mine with the sidewinder in dangerous zones! As I started mining under EVE, friends told me I were gone nuts! Going out into LowSec with a Hyperion, mining weldspar, for those who know ^^ THAT WAS *KICKING! Would have been the same than sticking a panel in space with indicators to my mining place and written: HIT ME :)

:D

The mining sidewinders are still in the belts for sure only now joined with NPC pirates and security ships trying to defend them. Tell ya what the NPC pirates are really good at scooping :D

Will be very interested to see what mining is like in the final product. Kinda disappointed we haven't seen it in A4 because miners are clearly going to be the Human pirates bread and butter in. I really hope FD have something special lined up for mining and not just sit and point a laser at a rock ala EVE online etc.

mining asteroids for aliens, that could run amok in your cargo hold. That would be cool.

Mining possible in the Beta?

Hi Fellow Commanders,

Is it possible to mine for metals / gems in this version of the beta. I don't see any mining lasers as in Elite 1984

rgrds,

I have seen sidewinders mining in some systems when you go to the "resource extraction sites". They appear to have a wide, white pulse laser thing.

Obviously I killed them but they didn't drop any good loot.

No mining at release ?

From newsletter #38 (my underline) ...

Newsletter said:
If for example something (like your mining colony building – or even a player-owned mining machine – things that will come after first release) is destroyed, then it will be stored as destroyed on our servers, and that is how you will see it in the game, at least until it is repaired or removed.

... or is a 'player owned mining machine' not the same as your ship + mining laser ?

Rug

I think that means that more advanced mining techniques will come post-release. I'd be highly surprised if we don't have mining lasers and mineral scooping at release.

No, it means mining machine which you leave at the resource site, and come back later for cargo.

You will be able to mine using your own ship and mining lasors :)

As far as I recall mining might have been mentioned as a possible even in Beta 2. I think the above wasn't recalling to mining a rock with your mining laser as such.

This was more about player owned mining facilities (which sound cool!) or building. Something which will be a placeable object in space I assume.

The mining feature itself I'm sure is wayyyy under testing at this stage already and wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't make it into beta 2 or the next.

Hope that helps.

Mining machines won't happen until we can land on the rocks.

In the meantime, mining will be from the ships, a la Eve.

OK, so I got confused

I was under the impression that Frontier had ruled out owning X style factories, and having an autonomous mining vehicle sounds equivalent to building a mine on an asteroid to me ...

I'm probably confused again

I think they're supposed to be fairly small scale, like a drill module that will collect x canisters of y over z minutes. You plop it down, call back later kinda thing.

I might be wrong, but that's what I had gathered from the DDA
