The Open v Solo v Groups thread

I'm not seeing a build that would my T9 live long enough to high wake against all those hilarious PAs/Pacifiers and whatnots.

Let's start with 4 PDs so maybe I don't take a Containment Missile to the ass this time.
Here you go. Just keep 4 pips to sys when being shot at.

The reason the pvp community slowly dies until nothing but bored gankers are left is becuase the game fails to put players into organic situations that come along with the games actual gameplay.

I love doing actual piracy, but if i do it, it has to be purely for fun because it benefits me in no other way. Im pledged to archon, the pirate king, do i get merits for priating? for selling stolen goods? decent credits? Answer to all is no. And its difficult to do well, on top of all the other issues like having to bump stop NPCs which is janky af, and players logging, etc etc etc.

How about powerplay pvp? does the game create dynamic situations where organic pvp can occur? nope, why? see this thread. BGS, same. add in instancing on top of it too.

So whats left when the itch for pew pew hits?
1. try to coordinate pvp meetups (which has all the same scheduling issues of a dnd game) that takes us away from whatever else we were doing at the time (shocking i know pvpers play the game too).
2. Go where the player hot spots are and just shoot at whatever is on the radar.

The solution is for the game to give pvpers more meaningful ways to pvp so that #2 isnt the most common option.
So what you are saying is that the game doesn't support PvP ? So those PvPers are trying to push something the game doesn't support ?? 🤔Interesting

It does support it, but like so many features cough (wings/teams, multicrew) cough the features dont get properly integrated into each other, and Elite has always suffered from Fdevs mvp one foot in, one foot out, philosophy.

But thanks for being disingenuous!

I don't think so. I think gankers were around as soon as the game launched (in fact their complaints about Solo and PG date from then), and they'll still be seal clubbing even if some new challenging PvP content gets added. It's nothing to do with getting bored, it's just who they are. I respect real PvPers and proper RP pirates and I distinguish them from the scum I've met and blocked in Deciat. The first lot are good for the game; the deciatteri aren't worth playing with.

And when the game launched this problem existed.

Solution for the gamers is just block annoying shoot everything types for good. And hope they get the hint and go away.

Edit, besides I think this thing from other point of view? What I get from being target for PVP? At best lost gaming time, at worst I eat a rebuy plus lost cargo/data/failed missions. There is NO incentive for me.

most do seek out challenging opponents.

Hard to believe considering Farseer seemingly always has a ganker or two above it.

the problem is a lack of challenging opponents.

That shouldn't mean that those wanting challenging PvP then default to ganking.

The game currently doesnt encourage players to actually get better sadly,

Encourage? Better? A lot of people play this game to trade or to explore, and they are better at it. A lot don't care about PvP so feel no need to get better at it. If you mean the game doesn't push people to get better, you'd just end up with a lot of people walking away from the game. It wouldn't solve the lack of targets.

And I agree there should be one.

And? Just because you trade or explore doesnt mean you shouldnt know how to survive and build your ship to survive, instead of abusing the block button or just swapping modes.

It not about abusing the block button. When I fly cargo stuff I want to deliver it. LAST thing I want is serial interdiction or high jump, jump again, high jump rinse repeat idiocy.

Like wise when I'm exploring last thing I want is to lug heavy shields, and armour which I don't need for 99.999% voyage and eating jump penalty for whole trek. Just to provide unwanted "fun" for some antisocial players.

No-one is recommending abuse of block. It's FD's intended way to deal with griefers; they've said so.

I think it's clunky and I'd prefer a better solution, but block is what FD have chosen to provide and they've said it's to deal with griefers.

I can use all intended game options to get the gameplay I want in the game I bought.

Oh no you might have 70ly jump range instead of 75! Perish the thought.
