Help! What's the point of spending all the effort to make planetary landings when it should have been used to introduce <insert poster's favorite feature/change here>

My ten year old son plays that behind me whilst I play Elite. It totally batpoo mental chicken oriental ! It may be my age but I tend to sit there staring at the game play with a look of pure bewilderment on my face :S

I landed on a planet, hunted some creatures to extinction, got into a fist fight with a local weapons merchant, walked around the woods picking wild mushrooms and went for a swim in the ocean but now I'm bored and there's nothing else to do. I need a storyline where I'm the hero. Please fix this bug. Mile wide but an inch deep.

You missed the part about consuming the mushrooms. :D That leads to a multi-coloured dreamworld where you have to save a race of small piglet-like creatures (bacons) using only your [spoiler removed].

First world problems and a severe case of entitlement syndrome have led me to believe that an entertainment software product, hand-crafted specifically for my enjoyment has failed to satisfy my gluttonous appetite for 'emergent gameplay'. Please fix, KThxBye.

BRABEN! i Went AFk 4 tea like only 5 minute while booooooring SC and HIT A PLANET!!! Plz make PLant less eazy to hit. STUPID DEVS SPACE IS BIG SHOULD BE HARD TO HIT PANTS!

FD! I landed on a planet called Lordran and some random skeleton blew up my ship! I demand compensation! This clearly must be a bug! My big spaceship must be superior to anything that walks!

Seriously though, not all the planets in the galaxy can be inhibited by high tech (i.e., space travelling) societies. What about the lesser civilisations that will pray to a random Asp Explorer as their new god? And just imagine the chaos manual planetary landings would cause!

Random pilot: FD! An angered god blew up my ship for blasphemy! How can I cope with such RNG?! Cut that content and fix aerodynamics instead!

FD: Thank you for your report, we are aware of the issue and the appropriate team has been notified. Have a great day. If you find aerodynamics are broken please compile a bug report and share it in the bug section.

Random pilot: Bug section! Laughable! I tried to do a loop on a .7 earth masses planet in my T7 and crashed! What are all these thrusters for?!

FD: Your T7 can only fly in atmospheres because the combined power of your thrusters and the lift created under your wings counters gravity. If ships would behave the same in atmospheres as in space we wouldn't have needed to develop different ship behaviours. Also note that 1.2 earth masses is the maximum a T7 can land on. If you desire to perform a loop please search for a planet that has below 0.3 earth masses.

Random pilot: I don't care! The Python has no wings either and can land! With more cargo!

FD: The maximum for a Python to land on are 1.0 earth masses. It cannot do loops on 0.7 either.

Random pilot: But my T7 should!

FD: ...Why?

Random pilot: Because immersion! Balance!

Complaint: I tried landing on three different planets. I burnt up in the atmosphere three different times.

Support: Looking at the log, you didn't have atmospheric shielding fitted to your craft.

Complaint: Tried again, fitted atmospheric shielding. Still burnt up.

Support: We'll look into it.

Support: That wasn't atmospheric shielding you'd fitted, that was atmospheric processors you'd bought. Fitting atmospheric shielding in the outfitting screen.

Complaint: This game is too hard. Refund please!

Support: Refund given.
