So, using my new Imp Cutter ( finally unlocked and love it so much! 🚀 ) and carrying a 'guardian relic' in my anti-corrosive cargobay , i just visited & landed at Ram Tah's station in Meene system ...but unfortunately no missions nor mails have triggered. ( i disembarked, spoke dialog with Ram, and even did a few engineer part upgrades just in case )

Is there anything else you're doing these days @Reyedog to get these missions to happen? i'll go try Professor Palin next...

*i'm also wondering if it's possible i've already done these particular missions, many weeks/months ago when i first unlocked & visited these 2 engineers ...but i'm not sure how to check whether or not i already did them? ( other than scrolling back thru all my forum posts maybe over past year )

As far as I remember you should dock at Felice Dock in Meene, not Ram Tah's outpost.

ohhhhh okay THANKYOU so much CMDR !
i will be sure to back to Meene system later today then yeah ( i just now landed at Professor Palin's 'Abel Laboratory' in Arque system , but no missions nor mails triggered . So i'm gonna guess i'm probably at the wrong location for Palin now as well? )

Meanwhile I just tried and after a few tries finally got my mission. Make sure to try to relog, undock and dock again.

Ah nice! Didn't realize you were at the wrong place.

Not sure if this has any significance but I was poking around with the Colonisation filters and found something rather strange...
There are five oddly specific systems in the Colonia area that are blacklisted from being claimed:
  • Eol Prou LW-L c8-127
  • Eol Prou LW-L c8-99
  • Eol Prou PC-K c9-221
  • Eol Prou PC-K c9-154
  • Eol Prou KW-L c8-301
The first one is a Detention Centre with 0 population. I suppose prison locations aren't meant to be colonized? Sure. Fair enough.
The other four systems however are just ordinary empty systems. Is there something special about them that I'm not aware of? Why blacklist them especially when nothing near Colonia can even be claimed yet?

Depends if they were x marked recently. And if users were in said systems using the quick build cheat. They did mention removing those people and leaving the system unable to build after removal. It also could be reserved for the NPC factions to expand into without player assistance.

If they have a beacon, or something of the sort in there, you won't be able to colonize it.

ahhhh ok awesome , so now i'm even more motivated to login today!
Thanks for the scoop, CMDR!

Are they ( 'Cannon' ) still active playing the game at present?

I think they very much are. Spotted a couple of Cannon associated FC's on Inara - most probably associated with the colonization going on in a system in Pleaides.

Though people told me on the TDW discord that the prime target of Cannon is Polaris.

it is. I am up there with people building starports. I got a scientific observation outpost that looks straight at polaris the bubble and colsack nebula.

They are also quite active on their Discord. And yes, they are aiming for Polaris.

Thanks to @Mattius101, I've dusted off my tin foil hat and decided to pursue leads discussed in his recent video.

- Polaris - I've confirmed that Canon has colonized to a system next to Polaris. It's here that I was able to purchase exploration data for Polaris and have an in-game system map of Polaris.

- Mic Turner - Mic Turner is in game and discussed in the systems Alioth and Olgrea. He is described as an explorer, ship designer, founder of the Alliance and an excellent pilot. He was in the rebellion in Alioth and met Meredith Argent where they became "... partners for life". What I have not confirmed is the part where Mic vanished / was murdered in a prototype ship "Turner Quest". In Alioth, there is the minor faction Turner Research Group. They have a presence in the California Nebula and two items relating to Mic. One is a planetary port named "Mic Turner Base" and the other is a planetary beacon called "Mic Turner Bark Mounds" (Both found here, California Sector BA-A e6) Neither of them describe Mic Turner directly or have anything to do with the Mic Turner story other than his name.

- Meredith Argent - In Alioth, Meredith is described only as a scientist, partook in a battle with the rebel Cakers, life partner of Mic Turner and daughter of Walter Argent. These are the only confirmed in-game points I've found so far. Some items I believe that could possibly be referenced in-game relating to Meredith are 1) She was the first Prime Minister of the newly formed Alliance from 3230 to 3236. Edmond Mahon is the second Prime Minister elected in 3301. Why did she leave being prime minister? Why did it take 65 years for a new Prime Minister to be elected? 2) There is a rumor that she was directly involved with the disbanding of INRA in 3253.

- INRA - The story (non-cannon) is that Mic left and is never hear from again. Meredith sent a second ship, the Argent Quest to complete the task originaly set for Mic. The Argent Quest was successful. The un-named pilot brought back a thargoid vessel, but soon after this pilots return, he and the tharg vessel disappeared. Meredith suspected that INRA was involved with both Mic and this un-named pilots disappearance so she organized the demise of INRA with help.

At this point, the only tie between cannon and non-cannon events is the end of INRA. I haven't been able to find anything relating to the end of INRA other than non-cannon stories. If someone willing to read this diarrhea from my mind and have an in-game clue regarding the end of INRA I'd love to hear it.

My theory is that Mic Turner's corpse holds the permission to visit Polaris. (Of course, this idea is supported by non-cannon means) His resting place is assumed to be between Alioth and Pleione. Travel (as i understand it) in the year 3252 (the year of Mic's disappearance) is by supercruise. (Edit; This statement is incorrect. here is a description of the evolution of hyperdirves.) But all this is just rumor... unless we find in-game evidence tying rumor to cannon. I believe that this tie is in the discovery of how INRA was disbanded. I think, that if Meredith Argent is mentioned in-game to be involved with the disbanding of INRA, that this could confirm her motivation for doing so. This gives validation to Mic's story of disappearance, the reason for the Argent Quest, the un-named pilot completing the mission and INRA's involvement.

I could just take off and investigate every god forsaken rock with a crash site and hope for the best, but it would be nice to know before hand that there is nothing there before I prove that nothing is there.

What do you mean by supercruise?
Traveling from system to system in a supercruise state. The ability to jump from star to star near instantly had not been invented. So to go from Sol to Alpha Centauri (4.25ly away) would take aprox 19hrs. I bring this up as it could help describe how a ship would navigate from point to point without an FSD. A trip of 300ly would take just shy of 2 months to complete at a speed of 2000c.

Which is the source of that? Couldn't find any references.
