Nice! Ya I havent made it to the Void yet... still pfaffing around.... Ive had to use the Outer Arm a couple times unfortunatly due to my limited jump range... Keep an ear out for those Sirens :)

What speeding again?
Didn’t see the Space Whale Crossing sign? 🐳🐳
Unpaid space tax? annual ship inspection expired?
Distracted by a nodding BRAYBEN????
Hypnotised by singing of half-woman half-bird aliens? 🧜‍♀️🧟‍♀️👯‍♀️🧜‍♀️🧟‍♀️

Aside from the previous elite games, is john jameson a character in any of the books and what all do we know about him? Im only familiar with a few logs that give some references but aside from that i know nothing. Could anyone be so kind as to fill me in? You can send me a direct message if you'd prefer

See the tourist beacons list third tab
(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eu30UyjpQrWexAglwD1Ax_GaDz4d7l8KD76kSzX4DEk/htmlview#). I seem to remember one of them said he was the first Elite commander? Or was that one of the other Jamesons? And there’s the Jameson crashed ship logs that tell about the Thargoid delivery mission (see Canonn site if you haven’t been there; its a good place to get rare data mats for engineering!)

Lave Revolution mentions that Walden had a chance meeting with Peter Jameson in 3125 when he was buying a Cobra Mk3...

The book doesn't have any Jamesons in it but it does have Watt Tyler... aka Commander Javelin Saunders making an appearance.... the once leader of INRA counterintelligence from FFE (believed to be dead), who was blamed for the assassination of Mic Turner and might have been responsible for the sabotage of John Jamesons ship , as well as a host of other things (Mycoid?)... in Lave Revolution he sabotages the destroyer Yamorro during the battle for Lave Station ...

It will be interesting to see what happens with that initiative, but playing that sort of BGS machinations needs a lot of players and I cant help but think that recruitment to TDW should be feasible by a single player. And I suspect (although the Codex seems to link them), that finding Raxxla is not dependent on recruitment to TDW (who apparently may not know Raxxla’s location).
It all adds interest to the possibilities...🤓
I don't want to start any rumors, so this is also a question for the old-timers. I seem to remember that there was once a rather "official" statement that they liked the idea that a lone wolf would solve the mystery. - Is there any truth to the memory or did I get something wrong in my head over the years.
But if I remember it right, I would consider the new initiative to be at least questionable...

I'm pretty sure that comes from the Formidine Rift thread, with Drew Wagar saying that a single player could solve it/find the mystery in the Rift.

Good luck searching the Void, simulacrae (and anyone else daring the 55 KLY journey). I went out there about a year ago to survey a sector called Phaa Chrie, as I thought it might have been a reference to 'Far Cry' or perhaps the cry of sirens... . I never found anything relevant but there are certainly some pretty impressive sights to see out on the Rim.

I remember that, but I think it was Guardian related.
not 100% on this.

My memory is David Braben answering a question in an interview (not sure whether text or video) by saying something like "it would probably take lots of people working together to solve it, but in a way I quite like the idea of a single cmdr managing it on their own".

But of course I could easily be misremembering.

Might be FRift, might be Raxxla,I vaguely remember it too.

However the initiative (apparently) started off trying to get TDW membership via BGS play, and now according to OA’s video it’s all about Raxxla. Someone’s got hold of the wrong end of the stick. According to Codex TDW don’t know where Raxxla is and are still looking after hundeds of years...can’t have been looking very hard! 😉

Think someone posted that saying on this thread last year, but couldn’t come up with the source vid. I did a bit of Googling but couldnt find it. Maybe another urban moth?

While we’re reminiscing about FD sayings...I remember Michael Brookes saying something about things being hidden off the ecliptic cos people never look there. Couldn’t find it via Google Advanced Search. Anybody else remember it/got the reference? I think it was in one of the old UA and alien mysteries (Canonn) threads.

It would be a worthwhile, but full-time, occupation to document all the FD “hints” from over the last 5 years!!!

Unless I dreamt it (possible) I think I heard/read it first hand. I don't tend to place too much weight on what others say! Fairly sure it was related to Raxxla, especially as I feel it was 2014/15/16, but of course can't be sure.

Rethinking the Codex bit about the Omphalos Rift being a gateway to the Gods...
Suspect that’s another way of saying you find it and then you die!!

Jaques station is unique in the fact that it is not just a station but a very old highly modified cyborg, jacques is its self an independent entity cable of choosing it's own location, it's not owned by any factions it is self aware.
If we still had the gal net records available you could read its entire history

I remember this one. It was when he was a guest on one of the Thursday evening livestreams with Ed Lewis, whom I think was exploring near Sgr A* / the Galactic Core at the time. I think he might also have made the comment about the infinite range of the ADS making things a bit too easy in the same livestream.

Umm... since when? Do you have any FACTS or evidence to back up your claim?

Jaques is only special in the sense that it was outfitted with a "hyper-drive" so that it could be moved to Begal Point, but only made it to Colonia.

I dont want to start another war in this thread, esspecially about a topic I know for a fact has RECENTLY been discussed, in this thread, but spreading mis-information and/or opinons as facts, is a horribly mean thing to do, esspecially considering how much effort most people put into their research.

"If we still had the gal net records available you could read its entire history" - is just adding fuel to the fire of mis-information, when its simply not true.

New-comers, Im sure, dont appriciate things like that.

Sorry, never mind, your half right... that station itself is not a cyborg, but owned by one.

" the centuries-old cyborg bartender Jaques, formerly a member of a Federal black ops team called the "Quinentis Fourteens", gained full ownership of the Starport Peters Base in Facece.[1] During his years bartending, Jaques had long dreamed of attaching engines to the station and using it to explore the galaxy. Jaques eventually made his dream a reality, despite some delays: he had to exchange Peters Base, a Coriolis, for a more resilient Orbis, which he named after himself "

what i do find interesting about Jaques Station is this:

  • Jaques Station's jump from Gliese 1269 to Colonia covered a distance of 21,890.11 ly, which is the longest single recorded jump made by a human vessel in Elite Dangerous.

Which seems to say that depending on the "hyperdrive" used, and enough fuel on board, excessivly long individual jumps, are TECHNICALLY possible in the game. Thuogh it would seem only for Jaques Station at the current time.

BUT that would lead back to my theory weeks ago, that Raxxla (if a planet or station) or TDW Station, maybe also have "hyperdrives" of some sort that have not been told to us, and that those locations could be "moblie" in the sense that on a regular basis, they switch or alternate between a handful of systems.

This rings a bell for me but I'm sorry that I still can't put my finger on it. ... Might also come from the rift story.
