The system contains a number of planets - mostly gas giants that support a mixed industrial and refinery economy. A powerful crime family is said to operate within this system.
I think the Codex is mostly giving us the framework to understand the Raxxla Myth itself, and some starting clues to find the Landscape Signal, as per my post here and here. I'm unsure if it contains any hints at locations other than pointing at the centre of the Galaxy though, it might do, but I think if there are additional clues that they're elsewhere in the lore.
Yes! Although... I assume there's a lot we don't understand (like why Halsey and Gan and the Rift crewmember, and not Gan's wife, a member of the Guardian wing, or any of the other Rift crewmembers?).
I have ideas... but they're just theorycrafting right now. I'm trying to find something more tangible.
I think so. I think the intention in gameplay terms is that we'd have recognised the Landscape Signal sooner (has been there since the start) and so we'd already have been looking for compatible clues. The Codex was trying to tell us that too but it took another couple of years before the Landscape Signal was picked up, and even now it's not widely considered interesting.
Obstacles:
The obvious downside is not everyone is an audio engineer (unless we work collectively), or unless said signal become incredibly obvious, like a moment of enlightenment!
If Raxxla is not initially visual nor physical no wonder no one’s found it, granted said signal when decrypted could still point us elsewhere, but how many of us play with the sound down/off?
I would hope good design work to have also incorporated a visual cue as well, as is with the ‘visions’ - an area of the void illuminated.
Yes, I think this might be what DB meant when he allegedly said "...and we know why people haven't found it".
Once you know what to listen for the Landscape Signal is incredibly hard to miss even in casual play, but I heard it for years, I even remember hearing it when I started properly playing when Horizons launched and thinking "oh, that's just the sound the Milky Way makes, that's cool, spooky". I never considered for even a second that it was anything more than background sound.
My guess is that if other compatible audio sources exist, they'll be similarly recognisable in such a way as to be identifiable by any player who is "alert" - or maybe we could say "has eyes to see"?
It's also fully possible that other clues are visual or have other features to identify them, I really have no further ideas on what to look for
Unfortunately that's the massive flaw in my theory here; until we find one of the other "pieces of the map", then it could be anything or nothing. It's impossible to prove it either way until something is found, and then presumably once (if) one other piece is found, then we'll know what we're looking for. Until then it's just an idea that I happen to think fits pretty well
As you say, the quest continues, only now hopefully people will also be listening to game sounds a bit harder. I do very much think it'll be a space sound, if that helps, since the Landscape Signal can't be heard within Horizons areas - so that means stellar bodies, stations, maybe even specific locations in space.
Other than being created there, I have spent very little time in the bubble. However, recently while looking at Tau Ceti on the Gal Map I notice gray jump lines. Now, I've been 60,000 LY's away from the bubble for probably over a year so they would not be my most recent jump line indicators. Anyone know why they are there? You're all probably laughing at how "out of touch" I am - LOL.

It looks like you have the Constellations toggle turned on, to me. (Left side on the Galaxy Map, where you control whether to show friends, engineers etc.)

On another note, regarding looking a audio signals in space. It would be nice to listen in on that "Whisperer in Witch-space". However witch-space is the time-space tunnel we travel through in a hyper-jump. Obviously we can't just go "visit" Witch-Space since, unlike the early travelers using a risky FOSC system, we don't get accidentally trapped in witch-space. However, we can try to record the sounds in a hyper-jump. So, I did that just now. This is just a very first raw shot at it and it's not from a camera but from the cabin. I didn't find much in the signal but I will look further and try to clean it up. I do notice what looks like a small wheel in a triangle, but it's probably nothing but random chance. The area is a bit more distinct in Audacity itself.
Yeah I know, it’s a conscious choice, it’s comparatively central, so like Sol I’m always mindful it’s there. I try and omit body names in many assessments, just to keep the foil under control.

Can confirm it's present in all the recordings I've checked....(approx 40 recordings of witchspace jumps around the bubble) for those with eyes to see, I suppose.
It looks to me like a three lobed shape around a circle with some inner structure.
What do you think @D7 ? It's your discovery, what now?

Yeah, I,m going to play a little more with settings and few more tries. Earlier this morning I had some slightly different setting and could swear the larger lobe area looked like a gas giant with a full ring looking maybe 20 degrees off edge and a maybe a small planetoid (dark). Agree looks like the gas giant doubles as a circle with inner structure. One look this morning made it look like the dark wheel symbol in the codex selection menu (or perhaps more like the generation ships symbol in the codex menu) but I had to go and forget the settings. Ill look more into this. Y'all have noticed the obvious similarities in those two symbols right?
"It is extremely difficult to find consistency among the various fragmentary rumors of Raxxla much like the ancient myths of Atlantis, El Dorado and the kingdom of Prester John, interpretations of the story range from the skeptical to the outlandish: Raxxla has been suggested to be anything from an unremarkable moon to a state of cosmic enlightenment. The earliest documented stories tend to agree on several points, however: that Raxxla is a definite place and that it holds a mystical secret."
Ancient Myths / Places like Atlantis, El Dorado and the kingdom of Prester John in the Gal Map, random or placed carefully?
Agartha (Agarttha or Agarthi): This concept exists in various esoteric traditions and is believed to be a hidden city or subterranean world beneath the surface of the Earth. It is associated with spiritual enlightenment and advanced civilizations.
Atlantis - Atlantis first appeared in the writings of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, circa 360 BC, in his dialogues "Timaeus" and "Critias." Plato describes it as a powerful naval empire with advanced technology and culture, predating Athens by 9,000 years. After succumbing to greed and hubris, Atlantis angered the gods who, as punishment, plunged the entire island kingdom into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean in a single day and night. While Plato presented Atlantis as factual, many scholars believe it served as a cautionary tale about societal decline and the consequences of overreach.
Avalon - Arthurian Legend: Most famously, Avalon is a mythical island featured in the Arthurian legend. It's depicted as a paradise-like place, often shrouded in mist and associated with magic and healing.
Cibola - Eighty years before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, Spanish explorers visited Kansas. Seeking gold in New Mexico, Francisco Vasquez de Coronado was told of Quivira by an Indian called the Turk. Here were “trees hung with golden bells and people whose pots and pans were beaten gold.” With 30 picked horsemen and a Franciscan friar named Juan de Padilla, Coronado marched “north by the needle” from a point in Texas until he reached Kansas. Here he found no gold but a country he described as “the best I have ever seen for producing all the products of Spain.” The Turk confessed he had deceived the Spaniards and one night was strangled. For 25 days in the summer of 1541, Coronado remained among the grass-hut villages of the Quiviran Indians, then returned to New Mexico. Padilla went with him but came back to Quivira as a missionary the following year. Later he was killed by the Indians, the first Christian martyr in the present United States. Near this marker is the site of one of the largest villages of the “Kingdom of Quivira".

Gwaelod - Welsh Atlantis (Gwealod = "bottom") - Cantre'r Gwaelod, also known as the "Sunken Hundred," is a legendary Welsh myth that tells the story of a fertile land that existed off the western coast of Wales but was lost beneath the sea. According to the myth, Cantre'r Gwaelod was a low-lying, coastal plain that was protected from the sea by a series of embankments and gates. The land was said to be rich and prosperous, with numerous townships, farms, and a royal court. It was ruled by a legendary king named Gwyddno Garanhir, who was known for his wisdom and generosity. The myth often portrays Cantre'r Gwaelod as a land of abundance, with fertile fields, lush forests, and abundant wildlife. However, the myth also tells of a tragic event that led to the submergence of Cantre'r Gwaelod. The land was protected by a sluice gate system, which was operated by a trusted overseer named Seithennin. Seithennin was known for his love of wine, and one night, he became intoxicated and neglected his duties. As a result, the sea broke through the embankments, causing the land to flood.
Hyperborea - Hyperborea is a mythical land in Greek mythology, located in the far northern part of the known world. The name “Hyperborea” appears to derive from the Greek ὑπέρ Βορέᾱ, meaning “beyond Boreas” (the God of the North Wind). The Hyperboreans were believed to inhabit a sunny, temperate, and divinely-blessed land, despite their location in an otherwise frigid part of the world. In many versions of the story, they lived north of the Riphean Mountains, which shielded them from the effects of the cold North Wind 1. The oldest myths portray them as the favorites of Apollo, and some ancient Greek writers regarded the Hyperboreans as the mythical founders of Apollo’s shrines at Delos and Delphi. Later writers disagreed on the existence and location of the Hyperboreans, with some regarding them as purely mythological, and others connecting them to real-world peoples and places in northern Eurasia (e.g. Britain, Scandinavia, or Siberia).

These were the Hopi, Zuni, Rio Grande Pueblo, Apache, and Navajo peoples. As Coronado arrived at the Rio Grande, he was disappointed by the lack of wealth among the Pueblo people, but he heard from a Plains Indian informant dubbed “The Turk” of a wealthy nation named Quivira far to the east, whose leader supposedly drank from golden cups hanging from the trees. She held this form for three years, until a serving man of the Dark Druid took pity on her and told her that if she set foot in the dún (fort or castle) of the Fianna of Ireland, the druid would no longer have any power over her. She then travelled straight to Almhuin (Fionn’s house) and was found by Fionn while he was out hunting. Since Sadhbh was a human in animal form, she was not harmed by Fionn’s hounds Bran and Sceolan, as they too had been transformed from their original human shape. On their return to Almhuin, Sadhbh became a beautiful girl once more and soon she and Fionn were married. Fionn loved her so much that he gave up hunting and all other pleasures but her, and she quickly became pregnant. It was while Fionn was in battle against the Vikings that Sadhbh was taken from him. A false image of Fionn and of Bran and Sceolan appeared outside the dún and Sadhbh ran out to her husband, unaware of the danger. As soon as she reached the false image it changed to reveal the Fear Doirche, who took out a wand made of hazel and struck her, thus she became a deer once more. Fionn spent seven years searching for Sadhbh, but to no avail. At the end of these seven long years, a wild boy was found in the forest while the Fianna hunted. Immediately, Fionn recognised in the boy’s face some of Sadhbh’s features and realised he was looking at their son. He was named Oisín and over time he became as famous as his father is in Irish mythology.

For myself I see that part of the Codex and the Brookes Tours identifies that zone specifically. On one aspect it’s a Robert Holdstock Easter Egg, on another I believe it is part of a larger construct, a cosmological model universe.
Yeah I know, it’s a conscious choice, it’s comparatively central, so like Sol I’m always mindful it’s there. I try and omit body names in many assessments, just to keep the foil under control.
Note what is situated in the middle: Sol, Tau Ceti, and Sirius. It may just possibly be important especially given Tau Ceti is mentioned rather directly in the codex. Tau Ceti Bridge makes me think there is something hidden in the installations of Tau Ceti.

The link lists the ISBN numbers. It was written in the 80s. Oddly, the books Holdstock lists as non-fiction are some of the ones most relevant. You are best looking at rare book websites or possibly Amazon.
