anyways, it’s forbes. i mean, it’s actually staff writers but it stil forbes. idk if there’s a difference between staff writer forbes and the rest of forbes, but i would suggest that no one in a position of power at forbes incorporated gives a **** anyway. forbes brand being about as poisonous as it is surprised to see it here. take it with the due course it deserves. which id on’t care what the subject is or if it agrees with me, if it’s on forbes.com it’s tainted.

It's Forbes.

Did anyone else notice in the tone of the article that most of the predatory marketing strategy (not to mention the weird stalking reports etc) seems to be dumped at S.G's door rather than CR?

Carrying the can now is she?

Excellent read at any rate and about time more articles like this were appearing on a regular basis.

Yes, I m kind of shocked how casually critical information are dumped into the article. Stuff like Sandis mental state, her history with Chris as well as them buying a 4+ million house. Fact? So far its just written there but I assume that the Roberts will go against it, if only by a written piece of themselves. I mean this is serious stuff....nothing like the kindergarten fluff WE discuss in here and which all is immediately coming under attack with "do you have evidence for those claims?" counters.

I m a bit torn between happy and sad that this article doesnt have a comment section....it would ve been ̶o̶̶v̶̶e̶̶r̶̶ ̶̶9̶̶0̶̶0̶̶0̶ EPIC. But probably for the better. With the repuation the SC community has built over the years I guess it was the correct decision.

I always thought that Sandis role in all this was minor at best, she never struck me as capable enough to come up with something like this. But regardless if she turns into a driving force or not....that doesnt make Chris any less guilty (if all this is true of course....)

There is indeed quite a fair number of surprising posts agreeing with the article.

Obviously I havent reached those yet. So far its all chest pumping, offering any kind of insight that shows that the article is a hate piece and so far I only saw comments that rip into ED and its community.

edit: /facepalm I just realized that a lot of comments are not shown until you click on "x more replies" thats where those hide :)

how -imaginary swear filter- stupid you have to be to preorder a game for 24k

We can just imagine how the conversation went down at Forbes:

::Forbes offices, shady 1930's Chicago press room in the heat of the summer. A man leans back in his chair wearing a fedora drinking whiskey, gazing out of the window at the city. Suddenly his office door is thrown open by a very enthusiastic young reporter::

Reporter: "I've got a great article to publish boss, it's about Star Citizen"

Boss: "Star Citizen, What's that? Sounds Soviet.."

Reporter: "Naw boss, it's a v-yid-yo game that's been crowd funded for the tune of $200 smackers... The article talks about how it's all been mismanaged and the guys behind it are sharing huge salaries while people can't stop givin' them more cash boss...more cash..for these lil' Spaceships boss..it's hot stuff"

Boss: "It sounds daft, are we ganna put ourselves on the line for this Jimmy? It's sounds like sensationalism...pure sensationalism..What about facts son? Have ya checked yer' facts?"

Reporter: "Naw, I just made this s**t up boss, I made it up to sell newspapers and because I'm a fan-boy of another game that came out five years ago that you can pick it up in a steam sale for ten bucks and has no commercial bearing on this project. Also it'll make Derek Smart laugh, remember Derek Smart? He made that Battle Cruiser thing..remember that boss? Remember how all the gals in the typing pool love them some Battle Cruiser AD?"

Boss: "Jimmy I do, this is exactly the kind of righteous story we've been waiting to put the interrogatory of Forbes on the line for. I like it, pass me the phone cancel my meetings. This is going to make 'The President's men' look like sponge bob square pants"

All those upvotes in the reddit "echo chamber" :)

Dear gods, that's a first. I've been fending off an inbox explosion, so didn't even bother looking to see how hard i'd been downvoted... apparently not.

Even more amazing, most of the responses from people on the sub have been reasonable. Sure, still strong in their faith, but actually debating instead of immediately throwing poo. A year or so ago i'd have got a ton of hate and insults from the crazed backers.

Times have changed.

Is this either because people are beginning to see the problems, or they see the progress and feel surer that CIG can deliver and therefore less defensive.

I've seen the nutjobs are out in force in the thread, but so far none have jumped on my comments yet.

Yeah, that's how the downvotes work. You get hidden behind a plus if you get too many downvotes.

On the reddit sub, usually critcism gets you a downvote while insulting another game or praising CIG gets you an upvote... unless apparently, you are me. And i'm still in shock over this.

I remember getting downvoted to oblivion back then around v2.x when i criticized the (absence of) flight model. I have not really made the effort to get back into that subreddit since, it's way too toxic for me.

The only time I ventured onto Reddit was when I refunded my old concierge account 2 years ago during 2.63 and after that Citizencon when the wheels fell off not only the Ursa rover in the demo, but CiG's already tenuous credibility with many backers...

I went on Reddit just to look through some of the posts there to see how many had been successfully and fully refunded. Turns out I needn't have bothered as I got in my refund quite easily with no fuss whatsoever...this was late 2017 and before Ci¬G shut the refunds down with the mass exodus of backers dumping SC and refunding after that particular Citizencon fiasco. It certainly was a wake up call for those heralding the SC white knighting at the time (I wasn't one) when they saw what Ci¬G had actually produced instead of theorizing after watching a staged tech demo narrated by CR telling utter fibs.

Careful after a few posts to many Sandy might enter your home and try to become your family... LOL

I did find it incredible that the article went that far into Sandi's personal relationship with CR.

Says a lot that we're always in their thoughts, they really do care (despite claims to the contrary 😂).

Probably because ED taunts and teases simply by working and existing. It might not be a perfect game but its there, anytime, allows you to fly and do stuff and what it does it does (IMO) well without major bugs and glitches. Plus it does look beautiful. In addition ED evolves as time passes so who knows what it ll be in a few more years,

A fact that SC white knights often forget when they condemn Elite, calling it crap and whatnot all the while praising Star Citizen which is currently much worse in almost every aspect...yes even FPS but defending that hypocrisy by calling on the dream and it ll be all good in the end. Elite, despite its shortcomings has the exact same potential (if not more) yet is denied that reservation. Both project a vision but only one of them is rooted in reality, the other is an illusion. Take a guess which is which.....

When it comes to Star Citizen discussions the term "hate" is often used but I find it more and more appearent that the people using it are actually the haters here.

Also following in Forbes wake is this article on the MMORPG site.

edit: OMG....it has a comment section .....🍿

Just read through the comments. I was surprised at the ratio of CIG supporters/detractors. It was like reading this thread. The vast majority of posts agreeing with the article or saying it did not go far enough. A few posts denigrating Forbes. Hardly anyone saying CI(G) were doing a good job or SC was a good game.
