Thing is, as an SC backer, the only game in town is talking about sales. In fact, in the ongoing absence of any evidence to support your decision to be a backer, you have to talk about the sales figures to reassure yourself and other fellow backers. As an Elite Backer, they actually have the makings of a great game to talk about.

I wonder how long it will be before we see sigs with all the Constellation variants proudly displayed :)

No idea, but I do know, here in the UK, if that connie trailer came on TV by law it would have to have a disclaimer reading "Not Actual Gameplay"

People can think what they want about SC, but CIG does know how to promote and present their game to get many gamers to back it.

The key is knowing how to make the game.

Wow, they've really outdone themselves. $350 for a single ship (Connie, Phoenix variant) - God does it look hideous inside.

And now they appear to be limited in quantity, see on the website (4000 odd left). So now it really is Pay2Win if they are selling limited items.

Sheesh. Why am I really surprised, this was on the cards for a while now.

So, the live stream was really just another commercial for a new ship sale. I'm so glad I declined the invitation to attend.

The multicrew combat looks fantastic. Looks to be coming along very nicely.

I am looking forward to the racing in two weeks. I have both an M50 and a 350r and it will be cool to take them for a spin.

What will be hard to decide though is will I use my mouse or my joystick. In Elite I prefer the mouse but in Star Citizen I am still undecided. :)

I hate CR and CIG!

They are producing so many PR videos and until the game isn't released - which may never happen - all the kiddies will shout "Oh, SC is soooo great!".

So racing is now supposed to be part of the SC project? Where have this been mentioned? Was this a stretch-goal? I am completely confused!

It's obvious that the ONLY reason why they are adding a "racing"-module is because they wanted to create something easy to implement that will impress the masses. This has nothing to do with a space sim which should have
- a big persistent universe
- trading, fighting, mining
in the first place!

But since they have trouble to create big environments due to their 32bit limitation they will continue to look for many many many more modules which will fit that limitation! ;)

CR is a beguiler!

Racing has been in the plan since last year at least.

I own a 350r and an M50 and I when I purchased them back last November I knew there was going to be racing.

I really don't understand the hate. The ship sales and commercials is there marketing strategy and I don't have a problem with it.

No-one is forcing people to buy anything.

If only they took as much care and effort on the game that they do on their shiny commercial videos, then we'd have a decent product.

I give them one thing - they are good at doing their cinematic commercials, they do look good, though nothing like what the game will be in reality.

I mean, the people look like the move and walk normally in the commercials - nothing like what you get at the moment.

Yeah, and you get no sense of a spaceship mouse shooter suitable for capture the flag. Or that the it will be a very small finite universe with no real scope for exploring uncharted worlds.

I really don't think it is fair to critique stuff like that so early in development. Improving the walking animations in Arena Commander is probably a low priority at the moment.

Though I guess if people want to whine they will whine. It isn't hard to find many things to whine about in a game in development.

I could whine about the exit transition of supercruise to starport space in the Elite beta but I expect it will be improved. It is still early days. :)

As someone who may not even buy SC, and mainly supports / plans to play ED, I thought it was good that they were able to demonstrate real progress. There's a ton of work ahead of them, and it's unclear what the end result will actually be, but they were at least able to show that they are making some solid progress on achieving some of their goals.

I'm much more interested in / impressed by some of the new information on procedural generation in elite, but good for SC.

My point was not whining, but saying how there is a disconnect between what people are brainwashed into expecting the game will be (their shiny video animations) to what they will get in reality will very different.

People will be disappointed I'm sure, then the whining will really ramp up if/when the final game is here.

Here we can see where all the money is gone for! ;)

Of course they move normally because they are made with those real-actor-tracking-systems. Those aren't ingame scenes. That's quite easy to do and isn't really impressing once you know it.

Edit:
This said, expect even more PR commercial videos rolling out the coming months! ;)
Hey, the money has to roll in somehow!!! ;)

I've posted a warning about the 'lets bash SC' content and it's still here - this is the last time before I start handing out warnings and/or infractions.

I'm temp locking so you can all read this and understand it.
