I don't light the weightless feel of the ships, nor the rather extreme rates of acceleration/deceleration. I like that it's different and faster paced than ED (Both are good ideas that can be fun) but I don't like how it's executed. Especially jarring are the strafe thrusters, yaw/pitch and the way when you go to "top speed" you hit a hard wall. I think slowing to that top edge feels less gamey (though both are unrealistic). The other thing was we were supposed to have human tolerances and anyone behind the cockpit of a ship in SC would be dead rather quickly with how it works (not consistent with the promise of having it function within those peramiters). I also don't like how they've set up the flight controls for gimbals, having an auto fight that lets mouse essentially aim to steer. The whole controller parity is thrown out the window for that and they have to come up with several convoluted methods to try and balance it out.

^^This.

I think if you set a sliding scale from the most corrosive "anti-SC" upwards on here, you would still find that they won't get any particular pleasure in the game itself failing; only in some sense of self-justified pleasure in CR having to take a fall over his (in their perception) hubris.

Only an opinion, most all would like to see SC come out, they just don't have any faith (left) that it will happen. I want it to come out principally because it will be a more "nowhere to hide" pvp game and may likely engage some of ED's fringe characters. It is correct that the notion of the "pvp slider" was quietly dropped? Maybe they will try something new like modes?...

So when the new batch of "Oh, I just happened across this thread and felt compelled to post" commentors turn up, it quickly descends into a snark vs smarm fest for a while.

Yeah the whole controller parity thing is a bit borked, I used fixed anyway and twin sticks, I agree with the acceleration bit BUT I will add that in Arena Commander you can't use cruise mode and when you do inside the PU it makes far more sense in PvP, then tactics and placement counts, it is quite exhilerating, just a shame about stability and FPS which hopefully gets better, that Super Hornet pledge counts on it lol.

Look, I'm speaking from personal experience here. I have in fact attempted to engage in an entirely neutral discussion with people here and I get nothing but trolling in return. Sometimes and individual or two will try to talk to me, and I even called them out and said I appreciate it. I then got trolled even more lol.

You may see reasons to lose faith in SC and CIG, but they keep giving me reasons to believe the game I want is still being built in good hands. That gamescom demo absolutely blew me away, as I'm sure CitizenCon will as well. I can't wait to get 3.0 in my hands.

But... that isn't a recorded a death threat and doesn't prove anything...

Here, lemme help. This is what a death threat looks like, recently made against Sandi on Twitter: https://archive.is/sfqq7

I see you have a consistent standard for "recorded death threats" that prove something.

So twitter is good enough for one but not the other?

Just a few posts before yours someone clearly keen on SC chimed in - in a reasonable manner - and no-one jumped on him - they just engaged him normally.

This thread was was moving along quite reasonably in the last few pages till you popped up to stir things up - perhaps that was your intent?

So okay, you're reaching with the first example. He never says he wishes he'd be shot, and notice that his behavior isn't supported by the community.

That second threat was a fabricated email by Derek Smart lol. He was caught posting the same threats years before.
got any proofs of that?
the guy was actually tracked down based on that email. And it resulted in whole school shutting down

Did you notice that DS didn't support that crap against Sandi and was apparently instrumental in getting the account shut down?

Also the "real person" announced that someone else was using his name falsely.

At the end of the day it's all secondhand info but if you choose to discredit one on that basis then you can't claim with any credibility that the other one has any basis in fact.

I own both Elite and SC/SQ42, I enjoy both, I have given Frontier over £100 and SC £35, value for money SC is good, I prefer the FM in SC to ED. I play the PU in solo mode for smooth framerate and stable play and play alot of Arena Commander.

Arena Commander is worth 35 quid on it's own for me, I have had that much fun with it.

If and when 3.0 comes along I will pledge more and CCU to a Super Hornet.

SQ42 looks a definite, they have the tech now to do that already, they just need the ships and cut scenes for the single player campaign finished.

Both games can coexist, they are VERY different games.

I didn't know you could play the pu solo. Do they have much non player traffic in the game currently?

Edit> apologies for OT, just establishing context.

Out of curiosity - why?

You've already bought the game, they've already got many times enough to make it by their own account - what is your motivation/benefit behind giving them more money? Were they saying they didn't have enough and you believed it in then I'd understand but that's not how it appears to be

But 'a milestone for the development' does not mean you have to rave and brag about it, certainly not when something as central as 'persistence' is only partially added after four years of development. I am sure "being able to open a door without a good chance of instantly dying" is a milestone too if they ever get there, but it sure isnt something they should be proud of at this point either. Its that combination of doing standard things that literally every other mmo has done years after intending to release the entire game and presenting it as some kind of accomplishment anyway that is annoying as heck. Remember that the 100 systems should have been done in 2014? Then 2015? Then 2016? Now we're gonna get a second system (hopefully) in 2017, and already you know they're gonna present it as a massive accomplishment again. If two years after the deadline you've done 2% of the work, 'being humble' is the only correct attitude.

As for graphics, lets just ask this: do you think that the water shown in SC looks 'amazing' or 'meh'? Because from my perspective, that looks very much 'meh' when you compare it with pretty much anything recent. I certainly wouldnt call it 'state of the art' or 'top notch'.

CryEngine has some of the best water graphics in any game out there... already built in. Load up any map in the CryEngine and it will start covered - surrounded, by this very water. I'm confused as to why they would want to use any other water. Have they made their own water?

I can't believe I missed that. Have you played PU (what a terrible acronym, by the way, on par of ED and IBS) post persistence patch (2.4 I believe?).

You get pirate spawn at will with pretty simplistic AI, what the solo PU shows you is the game area atm at about 60FPS and is pretty stable, I can play 2.5 solo at 60 FPS, in the standard PU I get about 20-40 FPS, sometimes a lot less and much more instability.

Please look at the date of your source, this was during the initial campaign... I don't think CR is able to foresee the future and definitely didn't think at that time to be able to fund ~$120 million...

I'm not here to convince anyone to re-buy, lol.

He made the choice to continue funding post kS and even past his initial goals of 6 million and 23 million etc etc.

So in a way is actions were laying the ground work to achieve 120 million but there were many many milestones before that.

Plus spending the money as you receive it is not a good way to fiscally manage projects that will contain delays for various reasons.
