Must be difficult to cope with the fact that he's doing the game he's allways dreamed off since a child and that there are thousands of gamers supporting him and thousands more joining in day by day. :D

Chris Roberts must be so flattered (and confused) to have disciples who want to spread the good word while also paying him to do so.

Anyhow, last I read was they had 500,000 or so backers so they've actually had about 342 per day, on average.

I know him from The Wire.

/offtopic, sorry mods :D

Ah yes that's right, Stringer Bell. He was great as Stringer Bell.

Must be very difficult indeed since it seems to have gone to his head :D

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I have one more:

It sure isn't as difficult as coping with the fact your own childhood dreams will never come true because you are a neckbeard over thirty with no accomplishments, admiring idols and leaders who know how to make you feel important; but I won't go there. It's just too cruel of a joke ;)

Must be difficult to cope with the fact that David Braben got an OBE, while Chris Roberts got sued by Kevin Costner.

Still. Kevin Costner!

To be fair, Braben became part in the making of a neat creativity toy that helps kids discover the joy of engineering. Roberts became a used-car salesman.

But hey, yeah. If you're going to be thrown out of Hollywood, there's definitely some style points for being thrown out by Hollywood royalty.

How exactly does the number of people registering on a website contribute anything whatso ever to the development of a game?

Your numbers are also massively exaggerated btw.

Well, it does indicate a deep need to join part of an ever-growing movement. A movement that's going places despite all the doubters! You'll see! You'll ALL SEE! When the day of judgment arrives. Days of judgment tend to get put off every year tho, that's yet another thing Roberts has in common with cult hucksters.

It's kind of strange to hear this kind of quasi-religious yearning applied to a video game, hmm? One thinks of "Boo" capitalizing His Vision.

It's a wonderful time to be a space loving gamer. Both Braben and Roberts are following their childhood dream of building their dream space game for everyone to play! Best of both worlds! Go Braben Go Roberts!

Go Braben! Just don't go too fast, too far, or too competently because you're making CIG look bad. It's tough to keep up the condescending "oh but ED isn't nearly as ambitious" as it is!

Obviously it doesn't. Though if I was prone to conspiracy theories, I'd suspect that the Byzantine layout of the SC website was actually designed to encourage people to sign up - I know that I kept finding pages blocked to unregistered users when I first looked at it, trying to make some sense of what exactly one needed to purchase in order to play the (pre-alpha) game. Since I'm not prone to conspiracy theories though, I'll put it down to incompetence - I suspect they would actually have sold more jpeg starships if they laid it out more sensibly.

One is building. One is dreaming...

Roberts boy the race has started.
You have to start running now Roberts.
I don't care if your expensive designer trainers haven't arrived, Braben's almost out of sight.
You cant fasten a picture of the trainers to your bare feet lad, just start running wear the school trainers.
Oh god he's crying, where's his mum ?.

What's that ?, oh yes well done Braben.

'Vanduul' actually :) Although I suspect 'Vandull' might be appropriate. :p

Yeah you got me there ;) It's allways amusing to see how deep the knowledge about Star Citizen lore is intrinsic to the backers, I bet you didn't need research that, just came out of your tongue like second nature knowledge! kudos citizen.

And before you ask, I'm hiding @ Covalex waiting for my mate to pick me up. ;)

Especially if it turns out that, as has been hinted at, the Vandals are just slightly revamped Kzinti Kill-with-wrath:i after EA told Chris they weren't interested in another Wing Commander and that he needed to find his funding elsewhere.

Cribbing your own carbon-copy creation… such fractal uninspired-ness would be a sight to to behold. :D

Well word on the streets is that EA offered +250$millions to Chris for Star Citizen, but that's just rumours from bars filled with journalists, nobody cares about that, much less in this forum. Rumours? Nah. ;)

Imagine there was an IQ test you had to pass before you could play SC.
How many players would be there ?
