It's a pretty fair article.
It's funny and kinda sad how divided people get over this game.

You're either a White Knight or a Goon - there's really no in-between lately.
In reality yes, there is, but most people just want to hear their same thoughts if not you are either one of those two groups yes. Extremists are always bad.

Its kinda ironical that Kotaku is now breaking the news.
Especially when they called out escapist for their article.
https://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/comments/3nih23/industry_kotakus_jason_schreier_says_that_kotaku/
the irony is strong now :)

I cant wait for chairmans response to kotaku.
for those who have forgotten heres chris response to escapist
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14979-Chairmans-Response-To-The-Escapist

They're very different things. The Escapist claimed that CIG was doomed, citing sources that were shady at best. Kotaku is merely commenting on the revision of the official ToS.

I do hope this doesn't result in another 100,000 word rebuttal. That amount of writing will keep Chris away from the important task of coding the game :/

That letter made me lose a lot of respect for Chris Roberts when it came out, mainly for two reasons;
• A CEO of a company writes like the average internet rant'er.
• The letter was directed at the Escapist, but somehow manages to mention Derek Smart 23 times. (Try a CTRL+F for "Derek")

The second mention is CR acknowledging that the Escapist had already stated then none of the claims in the article came from Derek Smart, but he still went on to mention him 21 more times.

Escapist never called star citizen doomed.

It called the workplace of CIG toxic.
It also called out wasted man hours they had wasted on tech demos that would never be real and i do think they were right with that.
It also called Austin being downsized a lot, but thats unknown to us. But it did not close down so thats one point where the article went wrong.(or maybe cig cant close down the studio after the article went live)

Basically what i gather from article was the fact that employee's wanted change more ethical work environment with less sandi gardiner. And questioned the meaningfulness of making tech demos that wont be in the final game.
also 9 different sources saying same thing sounds like story to me
Basically i think the leak was real and tells us about work culture that cant handle criticism.

Hmm, fair enough, but the sources were still shady at best, and the article ultimately only reflects an organization that can't handle criticism IF the leak was real, something which wasn't definitively proven. Kotaku's comments on the TOS revision is based on officially announced information alone, and therein lies the difference.

Fair enough as well. Official information is always better than anonymous information.

I don't think we'll ever get official information on whether or not CIG was/is a Toxic workplace — No sane employee is gonna risk their future careers by speaking up publicly against their current employer.

Every time I've heard presentations about job applications / job interviews etc. - It's always mentioned that you should never, ever, speak badly about a former employer. Certainly not a current one.

It's good that press is waking up from other side we can see that the ppl. who depend's from SC agenda(Grey market traders included)start begging for more money from their backers here is one more example below:

begging starts at 2:10...after that are usual Nikki"BatGirl" bedtime stories and fairy tales......

Semi-seriously though: Do you think they can possibly present at Gamescom and not give a release date (even a season or quarter) for Sq42? Is that only important for "critics" and will the "happy to wait" element not care at all?

If they don't give a release date, my thought is that would be an admission they cannot release it. Although another sad reality with the project so far is that release dates only serve as ugly tombstones for dreams.

With the new ToS, they don't have to give any dates, show any significant progress, or for that matter do anything more than tell everyone they're still working on it. Remember, the clause states that as long as they don't abandon it or cease development (rather ambiguous but nice that they don't need to provide milestones), you have no choice but to sit back and suck up whatever they deign to give you. I strongly suspect the best you can expect at either Gamescon or Citcon will be some heavily scripted CG video, I doubt they would risk doing something involving live players, even though that would amount to little less than a multi-person LAN party.

toe crunching at best, $115 MIL and they don't have enough money still?

"we don't want you to get into trouble" really? dudet trouble is piling up right here outside the door!!!!

I thought it was anonymised information, not anonymous.
From what I remember The Escapist documented how they verified (and excluded) the people they were quoting.
Some were anonymous and some were confirmed but had their information hidden. They all told consistent story and thats what got escapist interested. Its interesting podcast to listen, it contains even more outlandish claims that they left out of article.

Exactly, it wasn't anonymous information, it was that Escapist verified the bona fides of the individuals but kept it anonymous to the public. No different than any other journalist.

One thing you missed, top-hats, canes and a krill vending machine added to space mall.

Actually with a monocle is a concierge flair, no kidding
