Unsubstantiated rumour, I honestly can't believe they would relocate an office to Czech Republic. Why not just go the whole hog and move to India?

Or use Capita, like every level of infrastructure in the UK? Hah

Only time will tell, I got nothing to support it so we just need to wait and see.

He will probably buy his own island in international water in order to be not hold accountable at all. Why do you think he drove so much with his boat around :p

Is there actually a game? Or is this 1494 pages of talking about how there's no game?

@7.00
Q:
In the slide specifically from 3.0 to 4.0, there was no mention of ships docking together. When will we be able to launch our snub craft from larger ships? When will we be able to transfer fuel or cargo between larger ships?

Chris Roberts
Ah, so ahh... NOT in 2.6 but we are, uhm, aiming to get that functionality in between 3.0 and 3.1 so ah, refuelling is definitely... especially when you... when we move to 3.0 and we're in a full Stanton system, you know people are gonna travel and maybe run out of fuel, perhaps they're gonna have to get... REFUELLED and we really wanna get the docking of say the MERLIN into the CONSTELLATION done... so we've been working on sort of DOCKING with a bigger ship which is what we need for the SQUADRON 42 stuff when you come in and land, say on the IDRIS, so it FALLS out of that, so depending on where that ends up will depend on whether it's in 3.0 or 3.1

EXACT SAME question was answered in 10FTC March 7th 2016

10 for the Chairman: Episode 78 Mar 7, 2016

Q: We already have a flyable Constellation and a flyable P-52 Merlin. How far are we from a workable tech for docking and undocking? Is this something we can expect in the near future or is this a functionality planned further down the line?

A: Yeah ah you know I really wanna actually get the fifty... P52 and the Constellation, ah, to WORK together cos they're, they're MEANT to... to... work together, it is probably something we will ah, start to work on with ah, Craig after... Craig Gransell who's done the sort of landing system, he's still got some... landing system stuff that he's wrapping up for Squadron FORTY TWO and some... enhancements for Star Citizen and that, this will probably be the next... TASK to get this working it's not THAT difficult, I mean basically you just kinda
wanna get... it's just like the landing system really you get in a certain area and then you say Ok... DOCK and then we'll just sorta bring you in and CONNECT you and the Merlin will be attached to the Constellation and then, hopefully you can get out and you should just be able to enter into the... back of the Constellation so ah, I do wanna (incoherent mumble) cos it's ah, NOT... that difficult technically to get working it's really just people have had a whole bunch of other things they're working on first, ah for instance you know we... ah... you know... HAVEN'T SHOWN IT YET, but you know we have an IDRIS FLYING AROUND and you can land inside it and take off inside it and, em, walk around it and it's pretty cool so um, ah, that was sort of the higher priority and we've still got some stuff to do on the bigger ships in terms of ah....

TLDR;
- According to Chris they were wrapping up the docking tech for Squadron 42 and had an Idris flying around that you could land on in MARCH

- It's now OCTOBER and Chris is saying they are still working on the docking and landing for Squadron 42 and the same tech for the PU will fall out of that when they get it done.

Just as a counter to Mr Nowak's attempts to draw comfort from Chris Roberts' mumblings.

Simple answer?

No, don't put any money into this game until it has come out.

The later. SC is full of controversy would be to much list them all.

I can only say, wait for a official release you cant lose that way anything, but you would probably have to wait a while longer.

That was like a minute of someone saying they didn't think it was a big deal they were mismanaging backers money.

That's not a positive thing, nor a realistic assessment of how much it matters when the investors will never get anything back either way.

No - you'll gain nothing that you wouldn't get if you just bought a copy of the game when/if it gets released.

Considering the risk that it won't get released in the claimed state and the lessons learnt from No Man's Sky it seems wise not to throw money at it until the full playable demo is there.

If you go looking on the official RSI / CIG forums, they occasionally have "Free fly" weekends or weeks, where you only need to sign up for a forum account to try limited portions of the current alpha.

One slightly shonky thing about that, is that CIG then use that total number of accounts, even if they touched the game once and didn't invest, as a tracker of how many "citizens" they have.

Tony Z on 3.0:
I think that 3.0 is basically when it really starts to feel like a complete, solid, comprehensive game experience. And if you look at the release schedule that we put out at Citizencon, every point release after 3.0 has significant major new content in it

Chris Roberts on 3.0
From 10 for the Chairman: Episode 75 Jan 25, 2016 @ 17:45
3.0 is when you... go... between star system instead of just travel around one star system, ahm... but we haven't... determined that yet but we'll... we'll figure it out so ah, stay tuned for that one

Hmm it kinda feels like NMS & Star Citizen would be great for future research into consumer behaviour & games developer marketing strategies.

Based on this thread alone you could probably write a thesis on human relationships to a brand or a promise.

You might have a couple hours of fun that one might get from any Demo, but after the initial "wow-looks-so-great" factor is gone, then it's totally meh.

I've been in a Star Citizen guild/org since mid 2013, and I can tell you that SC activity has been entirely dead for over a year, and only "on-and-off" interest the year before that.
Some of us might spend 30 minutes when a new patch comes out to see if it actually has gotten anywhere serious, but other than that we play other games.

Only time will tell, I got nothing to support it so we just need to wait and see.

From what I have seen the Czech rumours need to the thoroughly double Czeched, looks 99% likely that rumour is false. Still, depending on burn rate/income from ship sales it's easy to see how a move like that could/would become necessary in the future.

If you look at the tech demos, SC is impressive that's why I bought in heavily after their 2012 demo. However if you look at their record of promises and retractions on things like module releases/release dates, promises on controls/VR, constant deliberate vagueness of information and maximum use of hype to gain more pre-sales/orders I would recommend steering well clear till a full release of SQ42 at a minimum. If they keep getting money for delivering nothing, there will never be incentive to finish their 'MVP' and actually release the game.

I doubt the Czech move is real, that would cost more money just to move resources there than they would save. Assuming they are closing out an office, moving equipment, and other costs that come with closing/moving offices.

As far as SC - I finally heard back about my refund request. Standard "please play, check out our videos, look at our demos!" which I responded that I've seen everything and would like a refund.

The problem is their demos are custom built to show progress that isn't progress, it's just another tech demo... at best proof of concept. That's not something we should be seeing at this stage of development.

There are two major hurdles or blockers to this whole game - one being the engine itself, they really needed to do their own custom engine so they knew the ins and outs of it as even the CryTek people they hired don't understand the whole thing since it has been a constantly built/improved engine since CryEngine 1 back in early 2000s and the second huge hurdle/blocker is Chris Roberts himself as he's pulling the same stunts he did with Freelancer.

Star citizen would make a great documentary. Its every single disappointing game project rolled into single massive con.
Yes i say con because theres no doubt that they cant deliver what they are saying today in said deadlines. For example 2.6 we get these kinds of answers.

"We're PLANNING to get players into the game and then THAT'S what will come out with 2.6 but then shortly after that, when the AI come online... the AI basically will be in the game, PROPERLY, the first you'll see of that will be in 3.0"

I'm confused and it seems that some of my viewers are confused. Are there going to be NPCs in 2.6?

Ben Lesnick, Developer
2.6 for the Star Marine stuff YES. 2.6 is focussing on Star Marine and Arena Commander.

But wait, Ben said he PLAYED Star Marine! So he would know if he played it against AI, right?

Who did you play Star Marine with Ben?
