ANNOUNCEMENT Tritium Depot Refills

Free things are always free things. However Im pretty sure those who were "stranded in the black" before still are after the refill. I think I got maybe 300 something to get the full tank. But I still only have 266 in reserves. Really doesn't take me nowhere with the FC.
Not really free if you take into account the operating loss caused by the immobilization of the FC.

@Just Ice you have been countering a majority of players on this topic since the patch, and I say that you are not really helping the issue. (...)

I do not consider myself "semi-god" of ED world.
And I am a lousy SSD miner.
I still can mine ca 200t/h Tri per hour, only because I have used my mind to to something else then whining: improvised and tested some unorthodox ideas.
(Like LTD/Tri overlap synergy that seems to be true)

If I can do it, everybody can do it.

It's as simple as that.

"You burned down my house!"

"Oh, we are sorry, we'll see what we can do about it. In the meantime, have this brick."

I agree that the gesture shows good will. It also shows a complete misunderstanding of the problem.

In the Bubble, where this amount of Tritium might be useful, most people buy their Tritium so aren't really affected by the mining blight. Out in the black, where you do need to mine Tritium, a thousand tons (at most) is next to nothing.
It’s not your house they burned down. It’s theirs. You and everyone else essentially paid a fee for the privilege to use FDev’s software.

(...)

Also: I find it strange, that when LTD3 was a thing, everybody was mining in one place and it was considered "normal".

Now, when I suggest as TEMPORARY solution: SSD mining in Tri/LTD overlaps, based on my very good results in such spots, I get attacked for "not helping the issue."

Although there are several such spots in the bubble.

What is the issue anyway to you ?

For me it's simple : to be able to
a) mine the Tritium
or
b) buy it

I know already how to mine it.
You too, you just somehow you try to suppress this fact.

Buying is not a big deal too: yes, Tri for 4k is available in laughable amounts.
But
We can laser mine 200t/h of Painite and sell it at almost 800k.
What gives us enough credits to buy 4.000t of "expensive" Tri.
Which is 4 times more, then maximal amount we could get from FD in it's "graceful" act of refilling depots.
For ONE hour of mining PLUS some time to sell it.
Reminder: demand for Painite is not as nerfed as it's with LTD - it resets to the max every 15 minutes.

So, I ask again, what is the ISSUE for you?
Joining "group whining club", hoping to force FD to give some freebies?

Because with exception of FCs stuck in the deep with commanders not prepared for SSD mining, everyone else should not be as hysterical as they are.

Solutions are there - not as convenient as usual, but no desperate either.

Uhh, what?
I have no way near billions of cr or can imagine how to obtain them playing normally and have had the game since beta. Plus the credit scam is blatant and ongoing online. Are you supposed to team up and buy as a joint venture?

I am at work ATM, have no access to ED logs etc, but I remember the last spot I have tested:

Col 285 Sector XB-H b25-0

Ring 6A

LTD2 overlap with 1 tritium hotspot in the middle of the overlap

Try dropping exactly in the middle of LTD" overlap or closer to the Tri HS - the latter is enveloped and very small.
I do not remember now which option gave better yields.

Hmm it was not too bad for me. I started playing two years ago and between the credits from distant world's 2 exploration, trading, and of course mining, I have been able to gain 6 bil total. I play maybe 2-3 hours per week on average.

I wonder do they realize that 1000t of trit is only 4 jumps.

So here you have 4 jumps after over a week of broken mechanics.... buhhahah 😂

And no one is 100% empty so no one will recive 1000t of trit.

This is a bit absurd:

For FCs stuck in "deep space" this is hardly any solution.
As you wrote, 4 jumps : a joke for someone is several tds ly from "civilization"

And commanders IN THE BUBBLE shouldn't actually get anything IMO.
As I wrote, we can buy 4.000t of always available 40k/t Tri for 1 hour of laser mining Painite.
This nullifies any reason to get freebies there.

Refilling depot of FCs outside the bubble (and in Colonia - no Tri to buy there) ONCE DAILY would have more sense.

It would more or less be adequate to several hours of mining and would allow the ones who really can't do anything (e.g. no SSD launchers onboard, expected laser mining only) to move slowly but steady towards their destination.

A patch is incoming - expect news tomorrow!

-Arf
@Arthur Tolmie So the news was, we have no new information on the patch, have a little Tritium - if you have room in your tank ? Is this really being open with the players?
To all the people complaining: Fdev didnt have to give you anything.
I think they do.
  • I paid £ for Elite Dangerous
  • I paid £ for Elite Dangerous - Horizons
  • I paid £ for paintjobs and more in the Frontier store
  • I paid £ for ARX to use for paintjobs etc on my new (currently partially useless) Fleet Carrier
I don't feel at all entitled for demanding Frontier Developments fix what they broke with patch 3. They partially broke fleet carriers and mostly broke mining, two of the most played activities in the game. Also, if these devs, CMs, Product Managers etc want to keep their jobs working with Elite Dangerous, they should step up their game, so Elite Dangerous doesn't die.
Thanks for the update Bruce, as annoying as waiting for a patch is I understand these things aren't fixed with the flick of a switch. Just one question, this free depot refill, will it be a daily thing or just a one time deal?
Funny thing, adding the problems was done at the flick of a switch when releasing Patch 3. Well, not quite, since there was likely db-updates and maybe other infrastructure changes enabling this patch. But if you are running your project like Frontier Developments are now, without a working plan to roll back, then you need to have either proper testing or a way to disable the new feature ("fix"), somtimes called a "feature toggle". Preferably both. From where I am sitting with no proper information on what actually went wrong, it looks like FDev did none of the above! As a dev at Frontier I'd be dreadfully embarrassed and freshening up my CV to find a better place to work that takes stuff seriously. Sure during the pandemic I'd have to sweat it out but after that I wouldn't look back.
Does tritium mining suck right now? Yes. Is FDEV aware of it? Yes. Is there anything you can do about it? No.

If you don't trust that FDEV is aware of the problem and are going to fix it as they said they would, why do you still play?
  • We don't play.
  • This is about trying to convey to FDev what a monumental screw up this is so they don't ever do this again.
  • Technically this could be about putting enough pressure on FDev so they roll back the mining changes in Patch 3 but the CMs are not responding to that at all. I guess this is the CMs way of being "open".

Wouldn't rolling back the update that broke it all in the first place be an easier solution?
Would it not be easier to reverse the patch for mining and then just alter the price of ltd

I’m no expert in this field but IIRC, the patch was supposed to address the mining exploit issue and other issues not related to mining. I wouldn’t know how easy it would be to ‘undo’ bits of one patch. So all those Adder errors we saw have been greatly reduced, you wouldn’t want to just roll back the entire patch.

It’s a guess, again, I have no experience in this stuff.
