While we need to revisit the commodities tests, it is my belief that we need to be looking at Hafnium 178.
Why Hafnium 178? From
http://www.chemicool.com/elements/hafnium.html ...
We can see that UAs radiate something because of the pulsing purple/green aura when they're floating in space, and they cause toxic damage to ship systems when contained in the cargo hold.
If it was gamma radiation, it would tend to pass through matter rather than interact/damage it. If it was alpha radiation, it can't penetrate matter enough to damage electronics. It is was beta radiation, light metal would stop it in it's tracks.
Neutron radiation however...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutron_radiation
So are UAs radiating neutrons in such quantities that our ship systems get damaged by it?
That brings us back to Hafnium 178. As a neutron absorber, it could reduce the effect of neutron radiation (if it is neutron radiation). Hafnium 178 is also supposedly a source of energy if the radioactive decay can be stimulated.
My proposal is to source large quantities of Hafnium 178 and sell them on a station that is beginning to suffer problems. UAs can only be sold at black markets, and since the only source of Hafnium 178 we know of is Faction fleet convoys, they're illegal and can only be sold at black markets as well. This might intervene at a station that is still functional, but I don't know how we can revive or cure a station that has been shutdown.
I would also suggest the same experiment but using SAP8 Cores at another station.
