Update on Communication

It may have already been said, but it’s worth noting that Frontier was in the process of hiring a new senior gameplay designer for Elite a few weeks ago. What that’ll end up meaning for the game is anyone’s guess, but it definitely makes sense that FDev went quiet while they hash out plans with the new gameplay lead, and it’s very clear proof that any “doom” predictions are wildly premature. Why hire a new gameplay designer for a game you don’t plan to support much longer? 😝

Whatever happens, I do hope Frontier announces something more concrete before the community meet up in a couple weeks, otherwise the poor CMs are gonna be bombarded with tons of questions they can’t answer.

Just get a pc if I want odyssey. Consoles are doodoo anyway. Pc is the best platform. Fdev should just say no odyssey on consoles BUT we will transfer your commander from console to PC if u make the switch.
I am certainly not ever gonna get a £1300-£2000 PC just to play one lame game (EDO), when I've got a perfectly usable £200 PS4, and other games for it besides EDH.
And I CERTAINLY don't want to go marching around for hours on a planet on foot, just like Skyrim BTW, looking at PLANTS what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And switching on lights for a few CR mission - what is that all about!!!

I want to fly in space, that's totally fine in EDH, as I will never get a chance to do it in RL.
The only people who MAY have a (slight) chance are not even born yet, maybe birth year 2030 onwards, for astronauts who don't need 3 PHD's and be top 3% fighter pilots.

It's great to know you're all alive and well but I see there is still no timeline as to when the 'Odyssey wont be coming to console' announcement will be made. If we were dogs you'd take us to the vets and just put us down.

Greetings Commanders,

I want to speak directly about the lack of official streams and reduced communications from our social channels since the start of 2022. I understand the concerns this has caused and hope this statement goes some way to alleviate them.

The whole team are excited to share all of the upcoming content for this year including new updates, content expansions and the next major phase in the ongoing narrative following the Azimuth Saga finale. Beyond this, we also look forward to sharing our new streaming format when the series returns as a weekly show. Changes will include new segments, year-round Twitch Drop campaigns and studio-quality production once we move back into the office.

However, there are several questions that must be answered internally to inform this communication plan. It is important to me that we address key subjects by priority and when we do that the information we provide is clear. The team and I are working incredibly hard behind the scenes to gather this information and provide these answers.

As always, the team and I are grateful for your patience and support while we wait for the opportunity to share all of the above with you. We will update you with more detail as soon as we can.

See you in the black o7.

Content for who?p.c.? It's not like you have had 6+ months without so much a fart Worth of info for console, aside from the usual cut and paste statement we've been getting since June !

But to be honest, this doesn't sound like doom. If it was doom then it would have been easier to just stay mum..

No matter what they say, people will complain.
Not so much that. The player base is disgruntled where the game is at now vs where it should be to begin with.
Of course people complain about it. And no matter how many floor panels are adjusted in the process, and FPS are bumped by 10%, after you delivered an unfinished and unpolished product without as much an apology to your player base, the damage is done. There is only so much goodwill the player base can muster before they complain about it. Some have more tolerance than others for mistakes like that.
CMs are doing their best to keep the torches and pitchforks at bay. But it is exhausting over time. I get that.

The more odd on consoles gets to cold storage, well that equally makes the longevity of horizons all the more certain. Its the same backend and would avoid the awkward shareholder disclosure that platforms will stop being supported.. why not?

Well, the skybox and the planets are better there.

Might have to go clock some hours trucking to affirm their metrics :)

Only FDEV could provide an update on communication without actually saying anything.

That's not even funny, its their trademark move.

In the past when faith was better people would giggle from the tease and let imaginations go wild.

Since its never worked out ever + odd, seems that same thing is getting filled with completely different inspiration now. But try teaching frontier new tricks... they never change.
