Update on Communication

I was thinking about this whole situation in bed last night - ooh, sounds weird. Anyway couldn't sleep for various reasons.

I'm not referring to this comment particularly but in general I think we should consider that this must be very difficult for the Community Managers. You know they're not to blame and imagine for a job you having to put on a front 2 or 3 times a week on live streams, with not a great deal of good news to talk about. I know it's their job but It must have felt like being thrown out to the Hyenas at times.

Anyway, it's pure speculation on my part, but it wouldn't surprise me if the CMs just can't take much more of it and so internally, they and those in charge at FDev are having to sort out some issues and come up with a plan.

Sally put out a public tweet indicating she might not be well at the moment. Obviously this is private and we don't know what's up (I wish you well Sally btw), but it reminded me that sometimes the pressures at work can actually make you poorly. I hope this isn't the case with Sally, but it can happen. It's happened to me.

By all means I'd say continue to show Frontier how you feel. After all we are here because we're passionate about Elite and last year we paid hard earned money for a product that should never have been released in the state it was.

Anyway I don't really know what to say other than be kind.

That's all I want to say, now sod off ha ha.

Yes, I see it the same. We should (even must) tell FD how we feel or think about the game. What we need to consider when writing our feedback is that the CMs are just the messengers, all they can do is to inform us about things they are allowed to tell us and sometimes is just a message like the one in this thread. CM are also the firewall between us and the developers and decision makers, guess that's the worst part of the job.

I don't think we'd have these 400 posts had they told us in January that the dev update wasn't happening.
I think they might get way more than 400 hundred posts if they actually gave some indication of what's happening.

400 hundred posts are a good thing (unless the posts are abusive). Commanders are still engaged even after the Odyssey hmmm .... episode.

Absolute nonsense you should be ashamed of yourself with this nonsense.

Everyone: Why don't Frontier just publish a quick update telling us the game isn't dead?
Frontier: Publishes a quick update telling everyone the game isn't dead
Everyone: No, we meant a cast-iron development roadmap, a console release date and where are the ship interiors.
See F-DEV, he gets it !!!🤣

I mean, it's just an advert. They might find someone, they might not (I hear UK companies struggle these days finding qualified people... after a certain ... event took place) - and there's no guarantee that that someone will eventually deliver, or indeed might instead get roped into the other IPs (as apparently staff gets rotated around internally depending on needs/firefighting).

I guess time will (eventually) tell.
Frontier advertise for one person. Another space game developer, is looking for 600 people over the next few years in the UK.

If I could work from home, maybe I could work for either. Really not going to move
....

With respect, the paragraphs, whilst beautifully formed, are lacking in real information and appear to be sidestepping the questions that have been asked since December last year by the members of the forum.

Has the 'new era' of communication been shelved? Is ED and its expansions actually 'doomed' as is being bandied around? Read around Arf, the children are nervous!
Making a post about the lack of communication/information while having no communication/information in it. Cheers!
