The split off, comes from peoples who think, they deserved a special treatment.
Like when consolers wanted daily reassurance/news from Sally and the other CM's that they had not been forgotten?
Tea break after Sallys notice they all went "oh he** no, nah, ah ah" and left their earl grey and cookies behind and dissapeared out the room faster than you can say salt dungeonThis is still a present tense thing though. I wonder if this is why we don't see the other CMs, as they don't want to be the new echo chamber now Sally is on a break.

Absolutely and resounding YES to this.Personally, if you'd have asked me 4 years ago what I'd have wanted I'd have gone for atmospheric worlds (as we have) but with SRV gameplay being fleshed out much more than it is. The whole of Odyssey has a feeling of someone biting off more than they could chew and now here we are with this added dimension of being on foot, which still doesn't seem to mesh together fully yet (sphere of combat, anyone?).
I'll quite happily run round settlements shooting rockets into the face of anything that has one or collecting stuff on far flung places to go build or sell things, but I could do that in other games. No other game I've played does what ED Horizons does in terms of flying a ship or even bouncing an armed moon buggy into/over craters for that matter and I don't think anyone should get particularly worried about something that doesn't build on that.
Wow, this merry-go-round never stops! I'd reiterate again that if you're on console (as I am) and not interested in getting a PC to play EDO then your/our options are to enjoy EDH if you still can, or find something else to play. The past 7 months have shown that FDEV is not influenced by our begging, pleading, threats to quit, or any other appeals. Odyssey is a paid expansion and, as with any business, if they want our money they're going to let us know!
I've done my fair share of bemoaning, that's for sure! But, I recognized that it didn't change anything other than making me bitter towards EDH. A little change in mindset and I've spent that last two weeks in EDH. I think we look at the expansion as something better, which in some ways it may be, but it's not like EDH is bad. I also realized there was a lot in EDH that I hadn't done or didn't know, so there's still some discovery there. I have this sneaking suspicion though that when/if EDO is released on console there are going to be a lot of disappointed CMDRS saying "is this it?".Well said. Sometimes it's best to just quit in life - in terms of the continued bemoaning, players like yourself are better served by playing something else, and I really do mean that in a positive way, not a dismissive way.
As someone who just moved from PS5 to PC … yeh, I probably wouldn’t do it for EDO alone. I went for a fairly meaty spec (12th Gen i7, 32GB RAM, RTX3070) and get 60FPS at 4K/Ultra with Bloom/Amibent Occlusion off and AA down to FX rather than SM … in space … on foot, it’s a little sketchy to keep up (50-60) so I dropped to 1440 which manages a steady 60FPS in all situations fine. But that’s a lotta power to throw at the problem …Honestly, if I was on console, I would've begrudgingly interpreted the ongoing non statements from Frontier as a "probably not gonna happen" after all these months and moved on, or if I was that desperate to play EDO just get a PC (not that I would recommend this as EDO isn't worth a major expense like that even after all the patching done imo), instead of going on "are we there yet" like kids on the backseat. It's really starting to grate at this point.

I don't want to knock the gameplay too much... sneaking around in settlements can be fun but... this is the kind of stuff I've done two decades ago in MGS1 on my Playstation, and the stealth mechanics in that were a fair bit more sophisticated (you got a proper sniper rifle for starters... claymores to set in strategic spots, etc. etc.) - I never really expected (by that I mean, wanted) that sort of stuff in a game about flying spaceships really, but it is what FDev deemed like a good idea so... yeah.Gameplay wise … I enjoy the on-foot stuff a lot more than I was expecting to - and the challenge is a decent one - but progression. Is far too slow. I only got a semi-decent start (G2 engineering) thanks to some help from a kindly squadron mate but I have no idea when I will ever get the mats required for further engineering as the grind is just crazy!
Not gonna lie, this was precisely my reaction when I booted up the game in May last year. WYSIWYG and nothing more. I hoped for stuff to do at Thargoid/Guardian sites, or the Horizons settlements, but nope. 100% ring-fenced content.I have this sneaking suspicion though that when/if EDO is released on console there are going to be a lot of disappointed CMDRS saying "is this it?".
Sorry for being so obnoxious now, but I wish people would not just compare to Scam C... that other space game.. when there are are others like X4 which do still play things 'by the book' i.e. release a feature complete game, support it to the extent it's now rock solid and stable, and release DLC at fair prices that expand the game in a meaningful way. It's quite refreshing I have to say, and Egosoft are a much smaller outfit as well. They're already guaranteed my money once the new DLC releases in the next weeks/months as a result. There are so many ways to see this, but I often think of the forum as storm in a teacup..
We work ourselves up into a frenzy over basically nothing.. Remember a few years back, when FDev concentrated on upcoming FCs and a future upcoming DLC? We had no galnet, no CGs, communication blackout, etc.. At least this time around we have it better!
And much as I dislike it, I think staying silent is in the end probably the best strategy. Just look at the latest outcry in the SC society.. If I've understood correctly they changed the roadmap and how it works, and now the community is on fire! Sounds familiar..
And that for a game that isn't even published, and something more like an alpha test trying different things to see what sticks.. To me it appears completely normal that they'll have to change things as they develop them and realize that they need to do things differently or add other bits and bobs.
And of course there are setbacks, you went down a programming cul de sac and it didn't work, so you have to backtrack and get delayed, or something went wrong and your fps are no longer where you want them on all machines, that could be easy or a devil of a thing to figure out.
If you say nothing then it's an outrage for one reason or other, and if you do say something and it needs changing then you're a liar and possibly worse.. Thorny problem for a game company!
Give it a day or so and we'll be somewhere between "cat memes" and "pineapple pizza".We appear to be at the depression/console phase of the thread.
