what are the best mods for Manticore Executioner

I use a G5 Executioner with scope, magazine size, stability and audio masking. At long ranges, stability lets me get the second shot off while the first is still on the way. The long range shots are a lot of fun as I cheer on the little ball of Plasma as it makes it way to the target, all the while hoping the victim doesn't wander off before it arrives.

I also use a G5 Tormentor pistol with stability, extra range, noise suppression and audio masking. The Tormentor does the most work for me and can also 1 shot skimmers, which was a nice suprise.

@Evazan: cheers for that info. I hadn't considered Stability as a useful mod for the Executioner. Think I'll try that one out...
My Exe will therefore be rocking: Audio masking, Scope, Magazine and Stability!
(I had mistakenly thought I'd put Faster handling on there but was confused: I had applied that mod to the Tormentor).

Yes, check my gallery on Inara.

Scope and no scope screenshots by just swapping weapon.
I know some other games do this too but it would be nice if the scope magnified only the portion in the scope screen rather than the whole view.

I would prefer at least 2 levels of zoom. Adding a scope to Executor makes it very hard for use in close combat.

'we have already a zoom in the vanity cam.... Could rewrite that one for a scope'
'Na, that's perfect, just use it, these space nerds will buy it'

Using a sniper rifle for close quarters combat...
😬😬😬
Sorry. The ex-soldier in me recoils at such heresy!
;)

Today I progressed and unlocked Yarden Bond.

Upgraded the G5 Executioner for Audio Masking and Faster Handling.

Took it for a 'test drive' (so to speak), taking two 'Exterminate Scavenger' missions.

WOW. Completely changed my game - no more hit 'n run tactics (although the lessons learned doing that will be forever useful in-game in other scenarios).

Much better scope aim with no reactions from other guards unless they were stood next to their comrade when I burned a hole in the back of them.

Scope is next, not quite sure what the fourth mod will be though; possibly one of Greater Range, Higher Accuracy or Stability. Will have to consult with some of the folk round here who specialise in stealth to see which one would be best...

Audio masking did make the Exe useful for me in Scav hunts.

Then again, it’s sometimes more helpful to make some noise and let them swarm so you don’t have to search for Scavenger 8/9. :)

I use my SRV‘s (which is parked behind a rock somewhere on the base perimeter) contact screen to find the stragglers.

Just yesterday I had an instance where the last scav was nowhere to be found, even with the SRV. I even installed (and reclaimed) a power regulator to see if I could draw him out. I eventually just relogged and killed all 9 scavs that second time.

I have noise suppression, audio masking, scope and faster handling on my Executioner. Sitting on a chimney or drill rig popping scavengers is right fun. Only if you want to go for the really long distance skill shots you may consider switching faster handling with greater range.

Anyone any experience of the Exe with Faster Handling and Greater Range as a sniper weapon? Currently I have Audio Masking and Faster Handling; was wondering if any CMDRs think the Greater Range is worth it.

Greater range is only relevant when you want to shoot someone all the way across a larger settlement. Like sitting on the radar dish of a medium military settlement and shooting all the way over the large landing pad and into the platforms at the other side. Then normal range does not kill the target. But even with scope they're hard to aim.

I was thinking of using it on linear-walking targets (where they're aligned with you) or poised/crouching scavengers; I've seen a lot of opportunities for it but knew without long range I'd not take them out.

I think you've answered my question - I am going to go for it.

Having said that, I'd still welcome more experiences from any other CMDRs!

As I said earlier in the thread, greater range just affects damage fall off, it doesn’t increase the overall range. I’ve never had a G5 exe not kill an unshielded target (yet) regardless of range. It either hits & kills or doesn’t make it the distance so certainly in my view greater range isn’t all that useful. I guess there’ll be a certain distance right at the very end of the range in which the G5 might not kill a high level target but I suspect it’s a very small window as I haven’t experienced it yet.
