Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I told you to stay the hell out of my car.
I do have e-breach's on my person. Could they detect those through a ship to ship scan? It doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes it might be just a single NPC out of a group of six, other times it could be up to four or five that turn red on my HUD and start attacking me.

Edit: I had been to Oden's Crag four times (prison ship) before I realized what was happening, I was assuming they were wing mates I didn't notice so I returned fire and got fined but I payed them and went to prison. They made changes to this where I could log into Horizons and pay my fine, no more after U15. I hope this isn't a bug.

Were you already in combat with other enemy, eg: pirates? One might've gotten in your line of fire (system security are notorious for this ;p) and turned hostile /attacked you - then if you continue to fight back, the rest of their wing will also turn hostile.

Oops... had missed that edit ;]

The last time it occurred I was deliberately very careful not to accidentally hit a cop that got between me and a wanted pirate. The only reason I went to Odens Crag was because I returned fire on someone already shooting at me, last time I locked on, scanned the attacker and it was a system authority cop attacking me, I never fired at him, just left, no choice.

Mmm. Since it's been widely reported Thargoid Scouts are in berserk mode making any AX combat for a solo pilot like me too expensive on rebuys and short on fun, I'm off into the deep black for a few weeks tomorrow. I'm overdue a holiday in Colonia, but will take the carrier to a spot I know 6000ly in that direction for a spot of deep space core mining first. Hopefully there will be some of the bubble left when I get back!

Eeek - just watched this. Looks like a very difficult CZ where the enemy just keep coming and you have no team mates to help out. I wonder what grade of suit and weapons they were using...

I’ve uploaded a longer video, a cutdown from the full hour i was mucking about there (the extra stuff was mostly scraping the place - not a lot of mats, but a few choice ones that were welcome - peeps must’ve left in a hurry…)

…the mission itself was really from about 20:00, when i changed back to my Maverick suit & sneaked back in, into the power centre:

…also, noticed that the “whatever” that got my Scorp on getaway after completing objectives seemed to be a Revenant after all - really, should’ve just kept going until i was over the next hill, or at least repaired the SRV before trying to exit… it all happened rather suddenly/quickly though* ;]

*in fact the best getaway if you’ve had to dismiss or lost your ship, is probably to use the “move somewhere safe” option from the main menu - thanks @Codger again for that tip, which let me keep 5 MI’s on the next mission :]

have you tried using the SRV weapons against those drones? I'd bet it's rubbish...

I just watched a video about how to farm materials in the Maelstroms (D2EA has just released the video), and wow -- it's a complex process, which requires some very specific engineering and loadout for your ship.

It does look exciting, but also annoying, heh.

Of course, the materials you get have no use (yet), but I still found it very interesting to watch the process.

I won't be bothering with it myself, at least not yet. If I'm going to go through all of that, I need a better reason than "I might need these someday" :)

As I mentioned elsewhere I have finally been able to enjoy playing the game again. Completely uninterested in the Thargoid stuff but exploration had been really frustrating with the disappearing planets in supercruise so had not been playing much since the live-game split. Happily this seems to have been fixed in U15 so the past few days I have been able to resume my Formidine Rift exploration. (So my trains, planes, yachts, cars and trucks might get a bit rusty now and my NMS frigate fleet will be bored no doubt.)

Had a total ramfest today, I laugh so hard I can barely play.

Do you think the game is sentient?
A lot of RNG engines are built that way. It uses your inventory or loadout against you. Diablo III is probaby the best example of it I've ever seen. If you're trying to roll, say, 20% physical damage on a set of bracers, and your skills are all set to do physical damage, you will roll 100 times, and each roll cost you more money and materials and never get physical damage, or if you do it will be only once or twice at something ridiculously low, say 12 or 13%.

Now, bear in mind, there aren't many forms of damage at all: Fire, Cold, Physical, Poison. That's it.

And what makes it so blatant is you'll roll Cold 10 times in a row, then Fire 5 times in a row, then Poison 10 times in a row but you'll never see physical.

But the system is easy to beat. Before you start rolling, just change your skills to fire and BOOM!

20% physical on the 4th roll.
